Jessica Alba. The woman can?t act and, as far as I?m concerned, is only still getting work because men perceive her as ?hot?.

Nolan North. I've never really liked any character he's voiced because they're all such colossal tools.

The fact that he keeps getting work when he only has one voice is equally annoying.
I'm actually going to take a moment to defend Nolan North here. The problem isn't so much him, but more on how he is cast. So while he can be hired to give a bland and uninspiring performance such as Desmond in Assassin's Creed, he can also do a lot better if called for it.

Nolan North as the Penguin

And also Captain Martin from Spec Ops The Line

I see what you mean. For me, that was Jeff Bridges prior to True Grit. You'd see him in a movie and go "Hey, it's Jeff Bridges... again..."
I would agree were it not for The Dude. Seriously, how can you not love him?
Dammit, I knew I was forgetting something. That's right, he was phenomenal in TBL.

Kind of tired of the Rock at the moment. A few weeks ago I walked past the theater's posters and GI Joe, Pain and Gain, and The Fast and the Furious were right next to each other.

Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise crazy, and frankly something about DiCaprio creeps me out.

Tom Cruise was the one I was going to say. I really can't see him in any movie and see him as whatever character he's supposed to be. He is and forever shall be "Tom Cruise--the crazy Scientologist apologist who needs to never smirk again."

I loved DiCaprio in the Great Gatsby though, so I can't give you that one :p

I'm tired of people not using Michael Cera to portray more awkward guys in their films. He's perfect.
I actually tend to find him quite annoying, partly for that exact reason. He's just an annoyingly high-pitched dweeb.

Hey, did you guys see that movie where Tom cruise played a flat everyman character? Did you also see the one where he plays the superskilled professional?

Cool, you've seen almost every recent performance of his.

And by 'recent performance' surely you mean 'every performance'.

OP: I read the thread title and immediately thought Johnny Depp. Looks like I wasn't the only one. Johnny's a good actor but I think he's abused his deadpan style to the point it looks like sheer boredom. And he does tend to play every character the same way, give or take a couple of Sparrow movies - he's either naively enthusiastic or grim and broody.

To this and all others who have bismirtched the good name of Johnny Depp I give you one film to prove his brilliance:

Adam Sandler

Seriously, when was the last time he was in a good movie? All I remember is his absolutely shitty movies that are lowest common denominator and simply not funny.
I've heard it said that he's made his recent films just he can get his friends work. If true, that's nice of him... But, perhaps he should find them other jobs.

Great one-time performance indeed but he seems to lazily walk through every other role. Even his Jack Sparrow shtick everybody was raving about 10 years ago is getting old at four movies and a fifth coming up.

I think a lot of people need to realize that the actors they are listing (Parker for example), do not really show up all that much. I mean hell we might not like the horse, but at-least we don't have to look at it often.

Instead consider the following: Ryan Reynolds. Rolled out often for over hyped movies (ho ho ho greeeeeeen lantern) which really just leave us with a bland taste in the mouth. I mean sure he might be a nice guy, sure maybe his acting isn't per say bad, but when he is listed as the headliner you know it is at most going to be meh

James Franco. I really can't pin down exactly why I don't like him (though if I had to guess, I'd say it's the near-constant smug attitude), but whenever he's in something, he always grates on my nerves.

Well what do you want him to do with Jack Sparrow? Play the character completely differently for the sequels? It isn't Depp's fault that the way he played played a pirate in a film based on a theme park ride ended up being so entertaining the studio won't let the character die.

Yeah he's had his off roles and appeared in some real shite but so did Brando, so did Olivier. That in no way takes away from Fear and Loathing or Ed Wood or any of his really great roles.

Depp only seem to be able to play a single character.
Actually, if you watch him pre-Pirates (which, in the first one, he did a VERY good job in) he is actually an extremely versatile actor. In Ed Wood... Christ one of the best performances of all time. Its just that now he has been given this quirky quota that he seems to have to fulfill to widespread film audiences expectations.

Anyhow, for me it would have been Brad Pitt, but then he made Moneyball. Then it would have been Channing Tatum, but 21 Jump Street... Tom Cruise but then MI: Ghost Protocol... I might have to say Will Smith, but its less that I want him to go away as much as much as start making better career choices. The guy has a LOT of talent, and I would love be to able to talk about how much I loved the latest Will Smith movie again.

I mean there are plenty of actors I don't like (most of what the guy above me said) but none of them where ever really any good in the first place so I really never even bothered to care (besides Seth Rogan, and really dude? Did you see 50/50?!?!?!?! By far the best comedy of the year, one of my favorites of all time!).
