Hire him, escapist. Get this guy before it's too late, he was one of the only reasons I went on G4, and probably my favorite person in the industry.
I'll second that!
I don't think escapist could afford him....maybe penny arcade could though
Simple, get rid of MovieBob, add Adam Sessler and his soapbox to the Escapist! Problem solved!

(seriously, just getting rid of MovieBob alone would be a plus! XD)
Why should the Escapist get rid of MovieBob?
Because we have enough self-entitled fuckwits on the Escapist as it is. Removing Bob and getting Sessler wouldn't be -1/+1, it'd be +1/+1.
I don't really know about adding Sessler. I've never watched anything involving him, but I am totally behind canning Bob.
To be honest throw Jim out of here before Bob. Bob has some good points sometimes when he's not whining about a movie he really likes. Jim just brings up half points and tries to defend them horribly, all while trying waaaaay yo hard to be funny.

Why should the Escapist get rid of MovieBob?
Do you want an numerated list, or should the usual argument suffice?

He is a 6-year old whiny brat when it comes to anything he doesn't like. Voicing it in one video? Fine. Bringing it up 4 videos in a row, in an unrelated video, yeah, no.

He did it with The Expendables, calling everyone who saw that and not Scott Pilgrim a worthless reject. And brought it up in four subsequent reviews. He did it with Fast Five. More recently, he's taken to calling everyone who hated the ME3 ending an entitled prat, bringing it up in 3 different videos or articles, despite having never played a Mass Effect game before.

He's a whiny hypocrite, who will lambaste someone for playing a game because it has tits in it (Dead or Alive) and then turn around and say that the tits and or sex were the best reason to see a movie (Piranha 3D and Black Swan).

THAT'S WHY!
Actually his bone was more with the Retakers and their childish antics. You don't need to play Mass Effect to see that they were being stupid. It wasn't about the ending, it was about their infantile behavior.

I don't remember him saying much about DoA, though, was that in Game Overthinker? I don't usually watch it because I'm more interested in his critiques of a subject than his "Storylines".

And I'm totally fine with him bringing up a point several times when it's a good one. Expendables was dog shit compared to Scott Pilgrim.

EDIT: On topic, i'm glad Sessler's leaving. As a kid I always liked X-Play and thought their skits were funny, but not funny enough to sit through most of the other shit they had, especially when they became less gaming focused.
Expendables was bad in your opinion. Which is fine. Now spending the next 4 posts telling everyone how everyone who saw the Expendables is a waste of life on this planet because they dare to disagree with you would be childish. Which is what Bob does on a semi-regular basis.

Personally, I liked the Expendables, and I hate Michael Cera, so that was an easy decision for me.
Michael Cera killed the Scott Pilgrim Movie by being in it. Bob needs to realize that. It's not like Youth in Revolt came out right before Scott Pilgrim, there were a lot of BAD Michael Cera movies before that. It would be like having Robert Pattison star in the next Christopher Nolan film, no matter how good it is no one wants to see Pattinson's mug on screen.

Sessler was basically the only reason I watched G4. Can't wait to see what he does next. I love this guy :D

Wow, he's the only G4 guy I actually believed had some decent knowledge in gaming. Good for him to leave then. Also I'm glad I in before this moviebob stuff blew over. ABANDON THREAD!

Wow. I never thought I would see the day...

I think it can be argued that, along with Morgan Webb and X-Play in general, Sessler was single-handedly keeping G4 relevant to it's original purpose (much like TRL on MTV). Now with Sessler gone I don't see how X-Play will be the same, and with their flagship series now shot in the foot like this G4 might finally be beyond saving.

I liked Mr. Sessler for the longest of times. I was a huge fan of X-Play back in the day (around 2005, I think) but haven't really kept up with it. But where Mr. Sessler really shined was when he was discussing video games with people like Jack Thompson. He was always polite, yet firm on his ideals and points. I'm sure whatever he does next will be a success.

It makes me sad to see him go, but I am sure that he is going to do bigger and better things. I'll miss seeing him and Morgan together on X-play. Best of luck to him

Honestly, this is a little sad. I'm sure for everyone, Sessler really was a face for video-game's becoming mainstream and maybe without him, x-play and some of the work G4 USED to do we would not be in the position we are today. It truly is the end of an era.

While I, personally had lost interest in anything G4 did after a while, my respect and my regards and views of Adam Sessler in particular always remained fond. I was really shown, after watching clips of his soapbox, how truly intelligent he was. Perhaps even more intelligent than 85% of the journalists and reviewers you'll find in the world today. He really showed an intellectual side of him in his soapbox that he never really got the chance to express during X-play.

I hope that whatever he does he will be successful in. And, I'm sure that whatever he does, he will have a rather large following. I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to become more of an internet presence than anything. That would be really easy seeing as I'm sure that most of the people who remember him fondly have already moved onto more internet related activities (like the escapist).

Hope he flips the place off when he leaves.
I doubt he will, at least in hard copy. If he intends to get a job right away in the gaming industry, an eagle semen e-mail would make a very ugly period on an otherwise good sentence. (Though I do have to say, having two TechTV employees leave in the same way would be hilarious.)

Then again, with that beard of his maybe he's angling for a longshoreman job or something.

Good for Adam! He's one of a handful of video game journalists that I have any respect for as a journalist as he's one of the few who is truly a gamer, has a well rounded knowledge and appreciation of the subject matter's history, and is intelligent, witty, and opinionated enough to provide any kind of meaty commentary. Hopefully he'll wind up somewhere worthy of him.

Adam Sessler and Sara Underwood are the only reason I occasionally flip through G4, honestly Sessler was the only gamer on that channel that's supposed to be about "video game TV" but 90% of the time its all Cops, Ninja Warrior, Campus PD, or Cheaters, so I'm happy he left still given the recent live shows he's been on he's probably going to IGN now

Even though I haven't been able to watch X-Play in a long while, this saddens me. I hope the best for Mr. Sessler.

And my guess is, they'll replace him with Herter. Not that he's a bad guy (met him at NYCC last year), but he's just not much of a reviewer.

I haven't kept up with anything G4 related since Direct TV dropped the station a while back. I did, however, enjoy shows like X Play when I could watch them on TV so I hope Adam does well wherever he goes next.

Well until someone hires him (or he produces it himself) I guess i won't be seeing any bits of Sessler's Soapbox anytime soon.

Well, there goes any of my reasons why I still occasionally check on G4. Now it's just another generic game site.

I really can't wait to see what he does next. I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on whatever he does, because he was the only reason to check in on G4. He was a damn good journalist.

And I also support trying to hire him for the Escapist. Granted, it's understandable if the odds are slim and you don't get him, but damn, wouldn't it be so bloody awesome? Two awesome sources for gaming, joined into one! :D
agreed. However, if it was a contract dispute that came up, I interpret that to mean $$$ issues. And though a quality site, The Escapist is not financially the most fluid.
Yea, I think his humor (which was much more evident in the older episodes) would be perfect for this site but if he's in dispute with a tv network, a web site might have a harder time. That is unless they've been making a lot more money with those ad-caps and pop-ins. Maybe it's enough to get Sessler's Soapbox as a regular video.

Either way, good for him. That whole network has steadily been becoming dry and boring over the years and he has a really interesting and eclectic sense of humor. I actually hope he starts up his own thing; either a site or maybe a small indie dev studio. I'm curious to see what kind of game he would come up with.

I'm more worried for G4 which really needs to work on the funny side a little bit with both Munn (who's replacement is not funny at all; except when Kevin is making fun of her) & Sessler gone.

Holy shit. That's kind of awesome. I look forward to seeing what he does next. I've never been keen on the idea of giving G4 ratings when I want to get the latest word from Mr. Sessler.
Unless you're a Neilsen family, you don't have to worry about giving them ratings.

Adam Sessler is ok when he debates and speaks facts. It is the only time I think his words have merit.

Adam Sessler is an absolute tool bag of the douchepocolypse when he give his own personal opinion on any matter like it was the words of every god combined and channeled through him. Which is probably 95% of the time. More often then not I would change the channel whenever I saw him talking. Though with that said, I changed the channel any time Morgan Web talked too. She is terrible, and that Blair guy. Actually, all of g4 is pretty terrible.

Also agree with the Bob Chipman talk in this thread. He is almost as bad as Sessler, but comes of far worse when he does it. Just to add to the list of movies he insulted people for liking, watch the Transformers reviews. I'm pretty sure he made it a point to insult anyone who liked them multiple times. I've been thinking they should drop Bob for a while now. He doesn't have the charisma to get away with the things he says like other acts out there.

Wasn't he also an editor in chief for g4.com as well as a host for x-play? Regardless I have to say I'm shocked.

My money is on a contract negation problem revolving around the networks clear move away from game coverage. The entire station is "Movies that don't suck" followed by "cops" and "campus PD" for 12 hours then "Ninja Warrior" for the rest.

You can't make him like things he doesn't. Also, if people don't like something that doesn't mean they can't improve journalism regarding it.
How would he improve it? Telling people that they're the bane of gaming like in his reviews is not helping...

That's a strange pair of reviews to go to the walls over. I've played both those games in the past year, my PS2 is still plugged in mostly because I'm still working through Gust's back library, but they're not really pinnacles of the genre. They're low budget affairs that do not compare well with AAA titles of any stripe, and I think they're exactly right to call them niche products.

Besides, if you fired all the reviewers who don't like JRPGs, there wouldn't be any left.
Then how about not letting them review it? How bout instead, people hire someone who do like the genre instead?
