Adult Escapists: What do you do for a living?

I work as a coordinator in an ER. I'm also training to be an EMT: Basic. After that I'm gonna keep going up the chain to Paramedic, though.

I throw food on shelves for 8 hours a day and 5 days a week, and get payed for it. That's basically it, easy job just mind numbing. Very temporary thing though (I hope).

Unemployed but I'm looking for work if they ever give me a chance. It's because of that I don't buy games too often (I still got some money but that's something I don't use or go reckless with it).

Teacher, mostly P.E, but I can substitute a few courses if needed.

Is one of them geography? Whenever you see a P.E teacher on TV or in a film, they seem to do geography aswell.
At least from what I can recall, which to be fair, is Brian from Teachers.

I work third shift as a custodian. It helps pay the bills. Some day might be good to go back to college, but...that takes money I don't have, both in its own costs, and in lost income from time spent in classes. Plus...someone's got to look after the kids during the day after school.

Im a salesman, it's great, every time I sell someone a new couch I'm effectively buying myself a new game. SCORE. Piss easy too, quiet afternoons spent on websites n forums n stuff.

I also do freelance voice over work (When I can get it), and freelance audio production (Radio imaging, podcast imaging, that sort of thing).

And I love it!

I work in the logistics industry. My main role is coordinating the loading/offloading of freight on aircraft. This also includes weight and balancing these aircraft(think of an airplane as a see saw in mid air, too much weight in front or back will cause it to flip or nose dive).

Weight and balancing is the more interesting part, because, well I usually do not know the weight of the freight until the last second, so I have to be creative with how I load the aircraft, making contingency plans in case that "one group of freight" that is normally 1,000 lbs, ends up being 10,000 lbs today. The computer does all the calculations though, I mostly just do data entry, and do my best to predict how much weight will come in.

By the way, they do the same thing with passenger aircraft, they just give each person the "average" weight of 200 lbs. So the next time you are at the back of an airplane, and a big fatty gets up to use the restroom, brace for impact.

Though I'm 29 I find it hard to class myself as an Adult. Adults have stability and responsibilities and generally know how to take care of themselves, while I do not have any of those things.

To answer the question, I work primarily as a waiter but also have a casual job in retail.

Right now I don't have a job but I'm searching for one. My main source of income is my dad because as long as I do well in school and stay off drugs he'll give me money when I need it.I'll probably end up joining the Edmonton police Force when I graduate though.

It is true tho people look down on others for some jobs but fact is someone has to do it a janitor is just as important as a doctor in my eyes.


OT: I am a multimedia designer I do work anything from say drawing and concepts to programming websites to planing out movies than going out and filming them and even editing it all. Basically I am a professional in almost any media based field.

The only things I can't really do that well are 3d animation and writing my own software. Though I do know the basics in maya and how to apply it and I also know how to make my own app's

I'm doing a work placement at Argos, i.e. working for free. I don't know why I agreed to work for free, but no TV and no Xbox makes me bored, so I decided to do something, and somehow I managed to get a job that doesn't pay, probably should have thought through that decision.

research technician for Newcastle university, just part time but in the current job climate I feel very luck just to get that, especialy after working in a lab for 6 years just to be made redundant after the company was bought up which sucked big time, pretty much caught up on purchases now tho - thank you steam

Huh, weird...

I'm a Senior Data Analyst for a large UK charity, working and living in London =p. Doesn't pay as well as a private job would, but I like the feeling that I'm working towards something other then making someone above me some money, and I recommend working in charity sector to anyone. Also, the people are really laid back and I get to spend unfair amounts of time online. Like now for instance!

Also, I'm surprised that so many of you are unemployed... In my experience adult gamers tend to do pretty well for themselves, because lets be honest lads, most of us were geeks in school!

Yeah, I couldn't get away with spending so much time here if it wasn't for the whole 'office manager' bit. Luckily though, there's no danger I'm gonna suddenly look over my shoulder and start shouting at me!
