Why do so many porn type games involve rape? I mean I know not all of them do, Sakura Dungeon, despite the name is all consensual and its awesome but why do so many of the other ones always go with rape? Its fucken weird. I mean there can't be that many people who are into rape to get off, right?

People often fetishize things that are taboo or horrible in real life. Look up how many incest fantasies you can find on mainstream porn sites. Bondage, rape, etc, these things are actual fantasies held by people who would never do these things in real life, but the fantasy of it is actually a fairly normal thing.

Rape seems to be more popular in Europe and Asia, while incest is more popular in the West. Dunno why. There have been studies that suggest it is normal social expectations that lead people to develop darker sexual fantasies, but I dunno how true that is.

Yeah, and that is fine, get off to something safely like that instead of actually doing it. My issue is that it seems like in this genre almost 80% of the games feature rape, excluding the vm games. If you're playing a side scrolling sex game or a rpg or whatever then chances are the sex is from a lose condition for you and therefore a rape of your character. If that's your thing then whatever, but it would be nice to have some alternatives since I find rape a pretty big boner killer. Plus it just rewards losing since I know in at least a few games you only get sex scenes from losing.

Well that's because people use art to live out their darkest fantasies vicariously. Obviously no sane person would go out and start raping people, but they make take out those fantasties on their artwork, or in this case by making an interactive video game where they can have their fantasy without harming anyone. It's honestly a pretty healthy way to deal with those kinds of fetishes.

Secondly, if you are looking for a game to help you jerk off and the material you are finding in gaming a problem for you keeping it up then I would suggest you find other material to use to get your rocks off. There is no shortage of porn on the internet and I'm sure you can find plenty to satisfy yourself too.

It?s pretty much the sexual equivalent of so many other games that focus on killing people. You?re not just fighting them, you?re murdering them as the main point of the game, for fun.

It has to be because, at least in the U.S., our society was founded on violence and revolt that involved plenty of murder. It?s ingrained in our culture, coupled with the fact that human beings are little more than animals to begin with. Our higher intelligence ultimately means more significant ways of either improving our existence or fucking things up. We do plenty of both.

I believe the T-800 said it best when after young John Connon posed the question while watching kids play with toy guns,

?(People) aren't gonna make it, are we.?

He simply stated, ?It?s in your nature to destroy yourselves.?

I think it's because early in the development of this..."genre" for lack of a better word, there was a lot of media attention being given to games like Rapelay, because this was back during the height of the "vidya games turning your children into serial killers" media phase (IIRC Rapelay was given the spotlight only shortly after Jack Thompson made his remarks about the V Tech shooting), and that ended up setting the tone when a bunch of no-name devs decided that it might be a good way to capitalize on the attention and make a quick buck.

And also, it's a lot easier to sell things to people with a particular fetish. People with a strong preference for a specific type of porn are a reliable market. So if you make a game based on a single fetish, then you're guaranteed that at least some people will give it a look. But if it's just a general "sex game" it will end up lost in the endless sea of free porn.
