About 2 years or so ago, I sold my PS2, and most of its games, to save up for a 360. I've regretted it ever since. Sure, the 360 is awesome, but there are so many games I loved on the PS2 and wanted to play again, and so many I missed and wish I'd had the chance.

But anyway, since recently I've had a look at next years line up of games for the 360 and quiet simply died a little inside, I've decided enough is enough. This year is catch up year! So, about 20 minites ago, I bought a new PS2, a memory card, and Beyond Good and Evil (i've heard good things about it) and I'm just about to set it up and start playing. But, I need some more awesome games to play on this thing, so I'm calling on YOU, the escapians, to give me some names of kick ass games on the PS2 that I shouldn't miss. Hears a list of games I've played, enjoyed and remember on the PS2

The Prince of Persia trilogy (faviourite game series ever!)

Jak & Daxter I, most of Jak & Daxter II

...Ahh crap, my minds gone blank. Ok, err, I'll have to update this list later when my brain comes back, but please, give me some decent titles. Thanks

I really liked Ratchet and Clank. Also God of War, although you probably have played it already.

All of the above, plus the DMC series if you want a challenge, and the Onimusha series. Okami would be a good game to get too.

If you've played Jak 1 and 2 then you should play the third as well.
Also RE4 is pretty good.

Ico and Shadow of the colossus both classics so check them out if you haven't already - they have a great feel and atmosphere. Okami is absolutely charming, innovative and have a stunning visual side and nice humour.
Then there's Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy if you enjoy good storytelling and interesting characters.

Now I haven't played either Jak & Daxter or Prince of Persia, so I don't know if our game taste is the same, but they are some of the game that made the strongest impression on my PS2 days.

If you can play Beyond Good and Evil on a Wii/Gamecube I'd recommend that, but if not it is still an experience not to miss. I'd say check out Katamari Damacy and/or the sequel, We Love Katamari. Everyone should try one of these games once and they're very cheap. Odd game but neat. Second the notion of Shadow of the Colossus as that is fantastic in every way.

Your avatar tells me you've already played the house favorite so I'll skip that one... Uh... Okami if you haven't played it yet. One other one that I always thought was neat was called Stretch Panic, it's a very weird sort-of platformer that mainly focuses on boss-fights, and your weapon is... a... demon possessed scarf! I know, you can barely contain your excitement. It's pretty weird but it's a kind of actiony game and worth a shot.

Get Rayman 3. I've always had a soft spot for that limbless, hand-shooting man.

MGS Collection? I got all three games for 30$ at hastings it was called the "MGS Essentials collection" I've had fun with it. Althought Snake eater, and Sons of Liberty are their "Substance redo's" and Snake eater only comes with the first disk

depending on what types of games you like to play...

GTA San Andreas is a beast of a game.
Metal Gear Series is always some frustrating (in a good way) fun
Final Fantasy XII
Kingdom Hearts
Red Faction
MegaMan Collections (yay nostalgia)
Winning Eleven

To be fair they are still releasing SMT games for the PS2, I too sold my PS2 in favour of a next generation console but I plan to get it back.

Really loved Primal, Shadow of the Collosus, Psychonaughts, Ratchet & Clank, God of War.

I would say GTA: San Andreas is a must play.

Also, I recommend the Ratchet and Clank series, 2 being my personal favourite.
