It's messed up in aload of places now, but it will be our saving grace when they get their act together. We need it for farm land and ecological projects. Also its a great place for solar power and testing new social designs and infastructures. Also we need enviromental projects there to help species of plants and animals.
Seriously. You sound more than just a little ethnocentric. "when they get there act together"? So the rest of the world is just sitting by for Africa to "get its act together" so we can exploit them further. I hope that I just misunderstood what you said. If not I hope other people have called you out as well.
Watcha talking about? Who's 'waiting' to exploit Africa? What people are waiting for is for when the countries become more powerful and start exploiting them!
"Who's claw is the rubber band on now?!"

Not to mention the INSANE agressiveness of the locals outside of the capitals
Meh, that's mostly the stupid South Africans if you pay attention to the accent (I'm assuming you're talking about Far Cry 2 and not being serious)
I am indeed hence why i quoted that post

...but in the end people are individuals and race does not determin character or aptitude to certain actitvities.

And to answear your question, yes, yes it is.
Companies use demographics, gender, and other personal features to sell products. Why? Because there are certain generalizations they make that hold true, and so make them more money. Besides, Matzy never once mentioned a race, he mentioned a large-scale culture. He said Africans. African just implies what geographic region that person lives in, like Canadians and U.S. residences are considered Americans. Not racist, but an offensive generalization.

This is just a pointless derailment, everyone. End it or go to PM.

Oh damn it, I went to post a reply and, out of habit from an old forum I use, clicked on the REPORT button on your last post TimmyTom, sorry mate. Hope it doesn't screw anything up, and if it does just see if you can get a mod to sort it out, was just a horrible accident XD

And now I've forgotten what I was actually gonna post. Fantastic...again, sorry tim

Who said anything about exploitation? They are mostly a broken continent. They need to fix up and get in the game so they can help out the rest of the world. I'm not saying lets go over there and exploit them! That was done before and had some bad results.

I'm intrigued by your proposal, and I'd like to take you up on it with a few questions of my own-

1. What is life like living in Africa? I'm pretty sure one's lifestyle is better off than just living in mud huts, and no one's questioning that it's possible to live there, but is it a place where the numbers of the poor, the numbers of the middle class, or the numbers of the upper class are greater? In short, what is the average lifestyle like?

2. How good of a government do you have? Is it mostly democratic, despotistic, communistic, collectivistic, or what? Essentially, what kind of government should a newcomer be expecting?

3. How dangerous is most of the wildlife, and how high of a chance do you have of being seriously in danger because of it? Also, if so, what do you do to avoid said wildlife?
Right,
1. There is barely any middle-class to speak of, and they leave as soon as they can... i can't really speak for the average African, but most of them live in rural areas and towns, those who do live in the city (which is a lot) are poor, but they manage their life. If you move to Zambia, you will be upper-class. You will most probably have a maid, a gardener, guard, and a pool. To us, everything there is cheap, so you will live a 'grander life than in a first world country...

2.The goverment is corrupt. And everyone is okay with it. There are HUGE billboards for a book that tells you about the corruption, and everyone talks about it. So it is deffinetly not totalitarian. It's kinda a wannabe capitalism, a country that failed at it since the copper prices fell and they now have HUGE debts to pay off, with what little money is left after the officials have taken it. It's a different way of thinking there, you accept the fact that the goverment is corrupt, but it's not corrupt in an... evil? way. Nobody gets hurt by the goverment or anything like that.

3. The wildlife problem differs from place to place. In Zambia we had virtually no problem since the animals were in the rural areas. Many African kids have to go to special zoo's to see their first Giraffe. The only problem we had in Zambia was that sometimes the Presidents baboons escaped (apparently he had his own mini-zoo). In Kenya there is a lot more rain forest in the capital, so there is a slightly higher risk. The wildlife is of no danger unless you live outside of the city, which i never did.
1. How about healthcare? Is it easy/feasible to get healthcare where you live, and in Africa and general?

2. Ah, I see. It sounds like American government can take a few tips from the Zambian government on how to manage their evil empire. :p

3. Sounds interesting. What kind of pets might be available in Africa that wouldn't be in the 'states? I've heard Africa has a diverse selection of animals there and all.

Zambia sounds like a pretty nice place. I've always wanted to see Egypt, what with the ancient tombs and the rich history there, but since it's technically in Africa, I might make a detour. :)

"Africa" ? I can't find the image i remember from GCSE geography, but you can fit North America and India into Africa - so why not ask "Whats northamericaindia like" while you're at it... Its a pretty huge place, you could loose Belgium in the Sahara alone. Climate ranging from Mediterranean to desert to tropical, 54 different countries, uncountable languages and cultures - if you put together every documentary ever made you probably wouldn't cover a 10th of it. For comparison the EU has 27 member states, and hands up anyone from one of them who cringes when someone (looking at Americans here :p) asks "what's Europe like".

Probably the only thing they have in common is they get screwed over by every large power and corporation at every opportunity. (like the way most countries are in debt after we lent them money to pay our corporations to build factories and oil plants to make cheep goods and oil for US, then demanded the money we lent them back)

I've heard it's full of sand and diamonds. But mostly sand. Sure you get the occasional tree, or lion, but it is mostly sand.

Not Good, that is true in a lot of parts in Africa. Especially South Africa,
Cpt_Oblivious, Temperature ranges from 13 (coldest) to 30+ during the dry season, and in Zambia at least the people are VERY friendly,
TopHatTim, I've heard the expression "first world countries" more than I've heard the expression "Developed world", the "third world" is sometimes referenced to as "developing countries".
As for Scamola, I've never had anyone try to sell me Ak's, Zambia has never had a war, but I can tell you that it is very easy to get Marijuana in Kenya.
Yep, now I know why those Olympic Marathon Runners are all from Kenya; it's the marijuana!

Man...this is very hard to ask a serious question without sounding like racist! Oh well, answer them if you would like, and I do not mean to sound racist, I am just curious.

Do you have a functioning society in Zambia?
Do you have a real house?
Is there lots of drugs and killing?
Is there lots of AIDS?
Have you heard of Invisible Children?
What sports do you play?
What do you do for your down-time?
Are you apart of the local militia?
Yes,
I live in what you would call a small mansion, a large house with a swimming pool,
I can only speak for Zambia, but I never heard of a killing, and i did not hear of drugs that often, I can say that in South Africa there is a lot of violent crime,
Yes, there is a lot of AIDS and phobia about AIDS, and help programs, and grass root programs to help people learn about AIDS,
Never heard of them,
I didn't play sports when i lived in Zambia, xcept for Tennis sometimes, though our School had an awesome swimming team, and some even swam in the national team,
In my spare time i would play games, watch tv, read, play with my cat, etc.
Neither I, nor anyone i know has heard of or is part of local militia. Zambia does have an... okayish army? There is more than a guy with a pointy stick, and they do have tanks.
Np to answer these questions, it's just these kinda things i want to sort out. That, and to attract attention to Zambia (used to be one of the richest countries, and has never had a war)
How are you so blessed as to live in a large house with a swimming pool?
Anyone who moves to any African Country, from a first world country, is able to live like i do because it's cheap, and it's how we live. A compensation for the lack things that we don't have, e.g. in Lusaka there is only one Cinema, one bowling alley, and one laughable shopping mall. With the money you are making now, in Zambia it's a fortune and thus you live as if you had a fortune.. in some aspects.
*starts packing things*

Bye mom, I'm gonna move to Zambia. I'll be back in about 15 years!

1. In Southern Africa, you go to South Africa if something serious happens. My friend crushed his ankle last year, and was immediately rushed to Johanesburg. The health care doesn't really exist in many African countries, but there are some clinics that try. I never had to go to South Africa to get treated for anything, and I sometimes got quite seriously sick.
3. As for pets, there are some people that keep monkeys as pets, but that is illegal in nearly all African countries. Personally I've had 2 cats over the years, and many of my friends either have a cat or a dog.
Keeping non-domestic animals is a stupid, cruel, and dangerous idea.

Heh, i like ur enthusiasm, but consider this: one cinema, one shopping center, loads of insects around, specially mosquitoes and cockroaches, games cost more and appear less often, everyone in your school will also have the same kind of house as you, and you will meet the same people over and over no matter where you go... still kinda fun though...
