Yes I realise that and that is what I disagree with. I disagreed with the statement that most of the MW2 complaints are about the player base. I think most of the complaints are directed toward badly made game mechanics and a greedy business model but that's just me.

So I recently got back into Modern Warfare 2 as a friend of mine got Xbox Live. After about 3 days of playing, I must have received 18 messages from random people asking me to join quick-scoping, no-scoping, boosting, clan initiations and knifing games... One little shit actually asked me to donate $10-$15 so they could buy a new tv.

What the fuck is it with this game and little children asking me to boost? I just want to have a good time, playing the game with my friends. I usually mute everyone but that doesn't stop them sending me pointless messages.

Is anyone else bothered by this? Or is it just me taking it to heart?

What is quick-scoping?

Where someone looks down the scope for a split second before killing you. It's a dick tactic used by arseholes who think a sniper rifle is a shotgun.

Because just because they use a tactic that's not even cheap. That makes them a dick. Obviously.

Oh it is cheap. They take advantage of the auto aim. You should not be able to snipe someone across the map by tapping the L trigger and firing.

There is some youtube vids on it. You really need to see it in action.

Until you show me a video of you doing that, I'm gonna call bullshit. The auto aim is nowhere near as dramatic as you make out.

I've had messages like those. Nowhere near as bad as that, but like them none the less. I never get them from anyone who sounds like they've gone through puberty though.

I recall one game I was in with a few friends who were boosting. Both me and my partner had an unspoken agreement to kill anyone we seen. Of course, we got a lot of abuse for it and the boosters never moved position. I've never had more fun in a game of Call of Duty that day. The perfectly hidden claymores taking out a passer-by, the waiting in a bush for the dead to return, amazing.

Hunting boosters has become my favourite activity now.

On topic...I get messages about the game despite never actually having it in my xbox, I've only played it at friend's houses. Though not many, it's still pretty ironic that people just assume I have it.

Boosting is when two or more people get together and kill each other over and over and over for easy kills so they can rank up so they can prestige and do it all over again...sounds fun doesn't it -_-

Isn't it on Steam you can only receive messages from friends? Apart from in-game chat. I mean through the steam interface. I just realise to spite 100 combined hours on Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 and 260+ hours on TF2 plus several hundred in other games... I don't think I have ever been sent a private message. Loads of friends requests but that's it.

Yeah you can only chat to people you don't know, although there is a "Send Message" function, but it is very rarely used. If someone wants to rage at you, they just do it in the game. But yeah you just get lots of friend requests.
