I'm not trying to be all elitist, I swear, It's just on PC I don't usually receive messages asking me to do all that stuff.

Isn't it on Steam you can only receive messages from friends? Apart from in-game chat. I mean through the steam interface. I just realise to spite 100 combined hours on Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 and 260+ hours on TF2 plus several hundred in other games... I don't think I have ever been sent a private message. Loads of friends requests but that's it.

Yeah you can only chat to people you don't know, although there is a "Send Message" function, but it is very rarely used. If someone wants to rage at you, they just do it in the game. But yeah you just get lots of friend requests.

I guess it's just a completely different community. People only want to communicate if it is amicable. I find it really pathetic that on XBL people send Private Messages just to complain and make accusations.

I'm not saying we don't have jackasses but they get vote-kicked quickly.

See when people trash talk, you shouldn't trash talk back... let them make themselves out to be a total asshole then initiate vote-kick and they're almost guaranteed to be gone. I think like pavlovian dogs they'll learn not to be asshats if they want to stay in the game.

I just block all voice chat when people annoy me on MW2. I have it on Steam, so I can't block the chat messages.
And anything you do is "noob" to someone. I was playing it a week ago, and decided to finish a weapon challange (Intervention with ACOG scope [The non-zoom scope]). I got a 2-14 K/D ratio (yeah, it was bad) and was called a "noob" by my team mate. Then next game I went back to my standard 50 Cal with Thermal (I unlocked it, I can use it!). Then proceded to be the best player in the game. I was again called a "noob" by the same guy who was now on the enemy team for using Thermal.

One day you will be considered a "noob" just for either firing a weapon or using a knife.

It doesn't bother me too much, it's the abusive messages after you play well that tend to grind my gears a little.

MW2 is a culture in itself, loads of these kids make youtube vids, booster accounts and what not, it's all just seen as the norm for them.

On topic...I get messages about the game despite never actually having it in my xbox, I've only played it at friend's houses. Though not many, it's still pretty ironic that people just assume I have it.

Blocking him and avoiding him does nothing. For every 14 year old kid on xbox live there's 500 more.

That's one reason why I play fighting games, its too hard for them!
