After the seas & skies, where else would Bioshock go?

Why would space be out of the question? I mean... System Shock.
That's the problem: There's already System shock. Setting it in space means we're back to square one, unless Irrational can come up with setting it in a different past era.

Good idea, why set it within a "hollow moon"?

Well, that's a problem - you said they'd be "jumping the shark".

Space would be definitely be out of question for Irrational; for if you set Bioshock up, it'll mean that the devs have jump the shark.

What other possible places on Earth would Bioshock explore next?

Some theories:

It'll be set on a vertical world like in the book On by Adam Roberts

The core of the Earth as inspired by Jules Verne

A giant towerlike structure that looks like Spearpoint from Terminal World, and acts as a space elevator.

A giant tree can reach to the sky, that can support a massive civilization on it's branches

Any other ideas?
to be frank, I kind of developed an idea along this line. It seems the Bioshock line is progressing further back in time, so I put my idea just after the California rush and the whole bio theme came from a Native American tribe using a flower that releases drugs that enhance the senses like vision or hearing - kind of like the flowers in RE5. You'd play as a marshal investigating after people fled from the city
I definitely like your idea of a giant tower like structure.

They'll go into the sewers.

"I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Crapture!"
That brings new meaning to "The city's gone to shit!"

And maybe they could do a Wonder City like Arkham City did.

First thought was space, but then I started thinking. Snowy mountain top.

I'd say it has a lot of potential. Blizzards and steep mountains make for perfect isolation just as well as a city under water.

After the sea and the sky, there's one other place I could think of where there wouldn't be any obvious trace!

They could have it as some sort of Anarchist state. And I mean literally, NO controlling government at all, just one guy, a dream and a golden inverted tower to look over his "Truly free subjects".

A game that would actually make sewer levels... good?

That in itself would be revolutionary.

Detroit? That'd be quite an interesting example and could actually go back to the philosophical discussion that was in the first game without feeling forced. It'd be sort of like Heroes: The Video Game.

Funny thing about underground, there has been a lot of post-apocalyptic B-movies where cities were build underground in the 90's.

How about this:
A city set inside a giant creature, like a whale or something. That really should explore the Bio-side of the game.
I would totally play "Bioshock: Giant Turtle's Back"

Underground would be my guess, if we're keeping with the whole "hidden city" thing.
Well I wouldn't say hidden so much as near impossible for mere mortals to reach it Rapture may of only been known by selective invitation only but some outside communication would be needed to recruit others. While Infinite's "New Eden"? touring the country/world is just hard to get to(for the ill-informed.)/find/track/attack.

I'd agree with maybe being underground somewhere (Maybe under the soil of Rapture under the sea?) With them saving Space and Rifts in to pocket/other dimensions for a later installment.

My first reaction was "space, obviously, like every other franchise in existence!" Even the freaking Leprechaun horror movies went into space, eventually.

That said, underground could be an interesting idea but they'd have to probably try and keep it from feeling like a Fallout setting. Or rather, Bioshock underground makes me think of "what if instead of going into the world of Fallout, the player stumbled upon a long forgotten refuge from the nuclear holocaust that either 1) never came or 2) has since played its course.

Land would be interesting in a "Land that Time Forgot" sort of way. I could definitely see both ideas working. Still, if they did go into space, they'd have to keep it from feeling too much like Dead Space or Halo. Insofar as the writing or atmosphere goes, I mean. Obviously the gameplay is different.

Underground would be a particularly cool place to do it.
If you were to do it right, and knowing the aesthetics Bioshock brings, they would do it right.

i think a better question might be, what philosopy will be looked at next? thats what made bioshock differant, and the city reflected it, everythingwas a twisted reflection of objectavisem, from the expotation of little girls for power to prying on the slightest weakness that its residents exibit. i'd like to see something from the left side of spectrum in the next game, that might be fun.
When people continue to say stuff like this, it makes me seriously wonder if I was the only person who didn't just read the press blurbs.

Oo, oo, how 'bout a volcano? That'd be the best.
Sort of already done in the original Bioshock with the Hephaestus level. Not that it wouldn't be cool :).
