Some people I know sometimes bring up the fact that I am 20 and I have neither lost my virginity or had any kind of lasting meaningful relationship. In response, I list all the reasons that such goals are stupid to go for because the probability of someone wanting me in that specific way is about as small as an x-factor winners odds of a meaningful career once their one year contract is up.
And yet, people still say I should try. This both confuses and makes me happy me about normal people. Often, you will see people go up against incredible odds for things that are not worth it, relationships that are unlikely to last three months, climbing everest seemingly for the kudos, voting for any other party than Labour or conservatives. It's stupid and yet, inspiring. That ability to keep going for a goal when the odds are so much against them that any victory is likely to be at great cost.
So, what do you think of going against the odds? Stupid? Brave? Bit of both? Any particular stories?
