McPhearson took his time putting on his armor, savoring the task. Every movement made by the armor had a sense of finality to it. He played around with moving the armor, feeling how the pistons resisted his movements and how they held him in place. The HUD was a beautiful chaotic mess, giving thermal readouts, UV, IR, and night vision. It even had a marker system for keeping track of spotted enemies behind cover. When he could spend no more time laboring over his new armor, he turned to the group at large's discussion.

"First thing's first," he said briskly, "The best way for us to understand how we'll function as a group is to give everyone a working knowledge of who we are and what we're all capable of. I shall go first"

He walked around the group to the head of the table, where Fury was sitting a few minutes ago.
"I'm Gabriel McPhearson, and my ability was given to me from God himself"

He spread his arms wide, and focused a glowing beam of light into a massive, cartoonish chain gun. He swung the giant weapon high into the air, as though it were weightless, and then brought it down with a grunt onto the table with a massive crash, sending a crack along the length of conference room
Let's see the demon top that He thought with a chuckle.

"I don't control light, I command it. It bends to my will, and it shall do anything I think of. I never need to worry about ammo, and I can blind a room with a thought. Don't worry about establishing perimeters, worry about catching the enemies as they flee my Holy light."

"Oh my God." He rubbed his eyes. "You're telling me they assigned a crazy street preacher with superpowers to S.P.E.A.R.? I work with Rangers, Delta, Hulkbusters, and I only get recruited after I get dosed with super soldier serum, but this guy can make holographic guns and make grand proclamations about his own divinity and he gets recruited?"

Monaghan got to his feet and went over to the coffee pot, poured a cup, then picked up the whole pot and began drinking out of it. He glanced at it in his hand and his brow seemed to furrow in a 'That's -not- what you're supposed to do sort of way, then shrugged slightly. "So let me get this straight. On a mission that requires -stealth- you want to run around with your incredibly shiny armor and your shiny gun and fire a -minigun-. I take it when God gave you powers, his finger kinda sunk into your head a little bit and scrambled your brains too?"

Climbing back out of his armour, Neil rolled his eyes at McPhearson's display. Stepping forward a bit, he peered down at the rest of the room. "Nice trick there Gabe. So does your ego come with a dimmer switch?" Shaking his massive head, he made to address the others.

"I'm Neil Reetz, man mountain and general bringer of pain." Jerking a salami sized thumb at his armour. "I carry what amounts to a 25mm autocannon, loaded with programmable smart rounds. Add that to some fancy armour, and you end up with a walking LAV."

Ash was suited up in no time. Although not as protective as the Stark-based armor some of the others wore, the reinforced battle gear would work just fine. The fabric of the uniform had a familiar feel to it. It wasn't the standard 50/50 nylon and cotton, it was a fireproof fabric. That was a very nice touch. Ash held out his gloved hand palm-up. A small flame appeared, floating about two inches above his covered skin. He wouldn't have been able to do this in an Iron Man inspired suit; it wouldn't have allowed his skin to breathe.

A loud crashing sound caught Ash's attention. The fireball died out with a faint puff. He turned around to see the preacher man - he recalled the name was Agent McPhearson - standing with a large, glowing chaingun set on the table in front of him. Ash couldn't help but shake his head in disapproval as McPhearson arrogantly boasted about his powers. The ghoulish man - Agent Monaghan - spoke up, and Ash decided to join in.

"Boasting is one thing. Living up to it is another. Save the theatrics for when we'll need them, Agent McPhearson."

'And here's hoping we never will'

McPhearson laughed at the comments from across the room "A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. Proverb 18:2. If you can't see the tactical advantage of a giant glowing distraction at a thousand rounds a minute, then you clearly weren't assigned to this team for your smarts."

He sent the chain gun away with a flourish of his hands, and sat down in the chair Directer Fury was in before. He rested his hands on the table and leaned in towards Monaghan.

"We'll be going up against one of the most powerful organizations in the world. Do you really think they won't expect someone to try to break in? Master Man isn't stupid, he'll expect something, and he'll be prepared. He'll have redundancies built into redundancies. What he won't expect, however, is the Wrath of God blowing a hole in his compound."

He rose slowly, walking towards the map in the center of the room.

"No one is going to be paying attention to pressure sensors or hacked doors at the back of the compound when they think there's a full scale invasion. Even if someone notices, you'll be dealing with at most one-tenth of the force. Stealth isn't just being undetected, it's not letting the enemy know your true intentions. Leave me at the front of the compound with some back-up, and have everyone else take the rear. It'll be a piece of cake with their forces divided like that. We minimize risk of harm and maximize effectiveness in combat." He continued to examine the map, seemingly lost in thought.

"I've read your file, Monaghan. Don't bother boasting about your time with the Hulkbusters. I don't intend to have this team massacred by a giant with down syndrome. Everyone is going to come back in one piece, hell or high water."

"Look, Father Christmas. If you speak about the Nashville Massacre again, we're going to find out if you can save yourself after you have a tragic accident and go off the side of the Helicarrier." Monaghan was visibly fuming, but this time managed to restrain his homicidal urges and didn't fling the coffee pot at him, just took a long, deep draft of the steaming hot coffee.

"We want stealth for more reason than just the A.I.D. goons that are there. These guys work for the Red Skull. They get out a message that they're under full-scale assault by S.H.I.E.L.D. do you really think that Schmidt is just going to let us have the base? No. First they're likely going to wipe their computers, thus making this whole exercise pointless, and second they're probably going to get reinforcements. Leave the tactics to people who actually understand what they're talking about."

"And since you like quoting, here's one for you. To claim victory in a hundred battles is not the acme of skill, to subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill. Sun Tzu, the Art of War. Now, I don't think we can pull off this mission without shooting a few people, but we will fail this mission if we do a frontal assault. We might survive. The data will not. And the data is paramount, Red Skull must be stopped. Whatever he is planning, it isn't good."

Blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah... Was what everything sounded like to Millicent right now. She slipped the needle out of Amber's arm and stuck a little cotton swab on top, taping it down. "I hope to have a good time working in the field again with such fine agents. No doubt I will be so beschäftigt wie ein Löwe, as my father used to say." she chuckled to herself. "I'll have plenty of business thanks to how well this squad is running."

When McPherson started talking, it was so much more blah. She had to wonder if he would even let her do a good physical. Hopefully he had better lines for flirting than he was using for boasting right now. Right now she had to concentrate on getting all the blood samples she needed and then quietly sneaking out of the room so she wouldn't have to introduce herself more thoroughly. She liked her privacy, ironically, and would prefer to have them believe she was a normal (or very skilled) medic, rather than knowing she could handle a bit more if they got into a scrap.

Since Monaghan pulled his sleeve up first, she walked over to him next, briefly flashing a smile. "Same question agent, healing or... em..." she wasn't sure how to phrase 'do your insides look as messed up as your face' correctly. "Nevermind, I'll just try to get your most recent medical files. Is there anything particularly important I should know right aways in case you get hurt from that hot coffee, or from a little brawl with your 'teammate'?"

"Yeah, you should probably increase the dose on the medication. Not a lot, but the Docs say I take about sixty percent more than should be necessary for my body weight to achieve the same effect. I used to have really, really bad reactions to opiate-based painkillers, don't know if that's still the case, not really wildly enthusiastic to check after the last time. Also, I can't digest plant matter very well anymore. Aside from that, I don't really know, the Serum's effected my body in a lot of strange ways."

He smiled at her, then thought better of it as the razor teeth were revealed again, quickly shifting his face back to a neutral expression. "Good to have a competent medic on the team. First time I've ever had one with an actual M.D., most of them just know how to put on pressure bandages and give out morphine like it was candy.

He glanced at the now-empty coffee pot and looked sheepish, setting it aside so Dr. Satine could take his blood, but noting that he needed to make another pot.

"If our techie is good at their job we shouldnt need a frontal assault. If anything the frontal assault should be saved for if everything goes pear shaped and we need a hell of a distraction. Also do you have an off switch McPhearson, or at least a volume control. Some of what you say is good, but it is hidden under so much neo-knightly bravado I'm seriously wondering if we have another case of the Cap's special method of cold storage." she said before taking her turn to discuss their power.

"Cynia Ryman, codename Basalt. My whole gift is that i am super strong, I wear this heavier and have this riot shield so i can charge the enemy line and bust some heads without instantly dying. Basically what I'm meant to do is take on a main bulk while a few members draw fire until I get close enough."

Diana had since finished putting the rest of her armor on during the slight verbal scuffle, and she was now sitting in one of the chairs, resting in a reclined position with her feet on the desk, twirling a pistol in her hand. When Cynia finished speaking, Diana sat up and spoke out.

"And my name is Diana Simms, but the people around here call me Shot Clock. You can call me Shot Clock if you want, or Agent Simms, or Diana or Di or, or whatever you feel like calling me, it's fine."

She steadied and aimed the pistol at one of the overhead lights.

"And I'm really good at shooting stuff."

She mock fired the gun, and then lowered it down on the desk.

"And I also have this whole time dilation power where I can slow down time for everyone except me... but mostly the shooting thing." she said in her slightly fast, rambling tone.

Charlie was engrossed in just the full aspects of the suit that he was almost oblivious to major events around them. He could hear everything going on in the background and he was still somewhat entranced by the fact that he would now be able to take this out. He had company permission after all. He held back, wanting to get into it now, but deciding it would be best not to go stampeding around the HQ in a combat suit for no reason. That had a tendency to make one look like a fool.

He turned back to the others as it appeared introductions were in order. As the shooter finished up, Charlie went over the roster in his head. OK so like Fury said, we got our shooter, the tanks, the speed fighters, Miss Syringe over there must be the medic... When Diana finished talking, Charlie went for the introduction as it dawned on him what exactly Fury brought him onto this team to be. "And I'm....the fucking tech guy. Damn it! I told Fury I wanted more action, not be stuck behind a damn computer all day! That was the deal!"

With an exasperated sigh, the former lab hand slunk down in front of his armor's pod. "Fuck my life. Well, whatever. I'm Charlie. Not that you'll care. I'll probably just be Techie, or whatever you called me," he motioned at Cynia as he banged his head back against the pod. Fucking figures. I can't even get field action on the freak squad. Why did I bother signing up with S.H.I.E.L.D.?

"... I wanted more action, not be stuck behind a damn computer all day! That was the deal!"

Sliding around the edge of the room Neil got to where Charlie was, lightly placing a dinner platter sized hand on his shoulder. "Think about it for a second Chuck. Who else on this team has the skills to try and save data that assholes like the Red Skull are trying to delete? Sure you may be behind a computer, but here there's a good chance that computer may be in the middle of a crossfire."

Laughing softly he sat back on the edge of the big table, the whole thing groaning under his weight. "You may very well regret wanting 'more action' before too long."

"Trust me man," Charlie told the giant who came over to offer comfort. "When you been stuck in a lab day in, day out for years like me, there's no such thing as too much action. That's why we got out and tore shit up every chance me and the boys got while at Cal Tech. That's not really possible on a giant hover ship sort of deal. I just want to be able to blow some shit up without hearing some 12 year old whining that I'm 'teh haxors'. Is that so wrong?"

The wolf man's blood came out dark, making Millicent frown. She shook the vial, turning the color a little more bright, but not that much. "Huh... sangue blu... are you feeling, come faccio a dirlo, tired? Out of breath? Hard to move?" She put two fingers on his wrist, feeling his pulse. "A little on the fast side, your pulse, I mean."

"I think that's normal. My heartrate defaults a good bit faster than it used to. I feel fine. Better than fine, I feel great. It may not have done a lot for my looks, but the effect on my health seems to have been pretty damn positive. The doc who did this - Mendoza - before he got fired he checked me over, said my hemoglobin had become more concentrated or something, I don't remember. I don't speak Medicine."

No! Bad Kyle. I know it's been well over a year but get a grip. We'll get in contact with the X-Men, they're full of - NO, BAD, that's not an improvement!

"Dr. Mendoza. Hah." she snorted. If there was any title more deceiving. [sub]"Couldn't tell an... an erythrocyte from a leukocyte."[/sub] Seething jealousy, she finished up and put another cotton ball band-aid on his arm. Arschficken eingebildet Hurensohn... She didn't particularly agree with his testing methods a lot, and she wasn't surprised that he would do something like this, but it was still so fascinating.

Honestly, after so many years as a black market surgeon, saying Millicent really cared about her patients seemed a bit ironic. But honestly she did. Hopefully.

"Not a big fan of his methods - I wasn't too happy when I found out he'd mixed in some blood taken from the fucking Hulk. Although I admit, it's hard to argue with the results." He twisted his neck, the bones popping loudly. "Ah, that's always an unnerving sound. Swear they do that a lot now. Oh, don't get my blood on your finger, it's got enough gamma in it to either make your hand all jacked up or sterilize you."

The sound of bones popping always made her uncomfortable for some reason: it made the ends of her hair stand up. "Right. We wouldn't want that now would we? Hard to do much of anything if your hand looks like das Ende eines Zweigs." She double wrapped the vial and went over to McPhearson.

"Now, now, now, we should actually agree on a plan, yes? Now take off a part of your suit unless you'd prefer I stick you in your neck and end up poking a hole in it."

With the good doctors work finished, Amber went over the suit, and after a brief moments hesitation, started putting it on.
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, depending on who you ask and what they fancy) this *was* a skintight catsuit we're talking about, and those are kinda hard to get on if you're already wearing a jumpsuit to begin with. And thus came about the somewhat unexpected sight of Amber stripping down to some basic underwear, right in the middle of the briefing room.

In Ambers defense, she'd been kinda desensitized to public near-nudity after the many, many, many times that she'd returned from a mission and had to strip off her armour right away so that R&D could fix it up. That set of armour was not built based on the Iron Man suit, and could take significantly less damage, meaning R&D was rather obsessed with keeping it in good shape.

Either way, after getting the jumpsuit off Amber put on the new S.P.E.A.R. suit and did some basic stretching in it. She'd kept the mask off for now, focusing instead on the new suit, and testing the new limits of flexibility, finding the new seams, and getting used to the new distribution of weight. That last one was a pleasant surprise, in that it seemed to be almost perfectly even; at no point did any part of the outfit feel heavier than any other, which Amber was rather pleased with.

And finally, she tried the suits feature presentation. Her thoughts transmitting to the suit through a neural interface built into the neck, she started running a current through certain patches of the suit, noticing the distinct but subtle purple colouring where the current passed. Placing her fingertips against each other, she found she couldn't break them apart again, no matter how much she pulled. But at a mere thought, the current fell away, and the hands came apart like a prostitutes stockings at a porcupine farm.

After folding her jumpsuit and laying it down in one of the chairs, Amber then proceeded to climb up the nearest wall until she was hanging from the ceiling, her slightly shaggy shoulder-length black hair hanging straight down. She activated the adhesive on her thighs and managed to sit down cross-legged on the ceiling. She knew she couldn't keep that up forever, but a couple minutes wouldn't be a problem.

"Amber Mayfield, y'all, and I'm afraid I don't have a codename. And well, this," she said, pointing down at her legs... so actually up for everybody else in the room, "is my power. It's all in the suit, though. As I said to Dr. Satine, I'm just an ordinary human, and I'm afraid that includes a lack of any kind of special powers. Still, look forward to working with you all."

"In a moment, Ma'am," He quickly brushed passed the doctor.

"Fine. Let us cut the theatrics, Monaghan. Your plan is, at best, half-baked. Look at the layout, there is obviously something hidden inside. It is much too simple for a AIM hideout" He walked across the room and locked himself in front of Monaghan.

"AIM has been infiltrated before, and this is not the first time we have gotten leaked information about one of Red Skull's facilities. He is going to be expecting any covert infiltration method you can think of. What did you have in mind?" He was face to face with Monaghan now, and leaned in close.

"Did you want to try optic camouflage? He could have pressure plates on the floor. You think you can stick to the walls? There may be thermal sensors. We could not get in through the air vents if those are covered in lasers wired to the alarm. The passcodes can have thumb print and eye sensors, or the key codes on the doors will probably be changing every hour. All of this is assuming you can a strike team of at least six people past every guard and camera unnoticed" If his helmet wasn't on, they would have seen his eyes were loosing focus.

"Red Skull will see a covert break-in coming a mile away," he went on, calming himself a little. "What they will not see coming is massive firepower at their front, and they will not notice a team coming in from the rear if they are distracted by a full blown battle."

He walked back towards the map. "They will keep generators in the basement. We can set off explosives along the perimeter, using Ash's abilities. With their power cut, they can't call in for back-up, which means Agents Ryman, Reetz, and myself can storm the front and draw out their fire. Meanwhile, the second team comes in from the rear, makes it to the hard drives, and agent Shen can download the information we need, encountering minimal resistance. We would be in and out before they knew what hit them."
