"My assignment to S.P.E.A.R. was the condition that came to me getting top slot in a supersoldier serum trial. Turns out the serum was some kind of jacked up mixture of a part of the Captain America formula and Hulk's blood. I don't even know what the idea was there. The Doctor in charge got fired." He shrugged. "It may not have done a lot of good for my looks, but it seems to have worked pretty well."

"Well, no need to spill all your guts all at once. We'll have plenty of time d'échanger broche as we go on, if we don't die. Share as much as you like. But Celebrity Deathmatch? You have piqued my interest. Maybe this group also consists of second chances and rêves brisés."

Millicent opened a small notebook, writing down notes about her new friends.

Amber Mayfield. Fuit in ministerium officium duobus annis. Sunt eximius artes
Her writing went from the typical scribbles of a doctor to almost illegible symbols.
Neil Reetz. Alta, molimine, sed non necessario heroica figura consideretur
Cynia Ryman. Solum vires?

Connection was down. Fixed now. Meant to start a couple nights ago.

The hours passed, and the team was deployed on the outskirts of Manhattan. They were driven inside a pair of truck. It was getting closer to midnight as they arrived at the New Jersey border. They were dropped off a mile to the west from the facility.

The facility had a simple chain-link fence with a barbed wire top surrounding the entire area. There were 4 long rows of storage facilities, each individual storage room the size of a garage for a middle-sized house. Some were open, but nobody could see what was being done inside. To the far noth, there was a massive two-story building, clearly meant to serve as an office building, with a larger garage holding a couple trucks on the east side. To the west of that building were several generators.

To the south was a simple booth which was intended to be where people drove in and out, and there was a trio of guards patrolling the way. In each individual row of storage areas, there were 2 patrolling guards, and there did seem to be some inside a couple storage rooms. There were 4 at the main office building. The security seemed to be lax, with some just leaning and smoking and talking on their phones.

The most peculiar thing about the security was that there were several devices set up, clearly made by AIM. They were buried in the ground, at the end of each row, and a long line of them at the entrance.

"Alright, we should probably split into two groups. One to take out their generators and another to go into the office and secure what we need here. Then we regroup, call for exfil, and more likely than not have to fight our way out. Without their generators there should be a small window while the backups come on that we can sneak in.

Cruach, Neil, Ash, McPhearson, and Shot Clock should be the team tasked with taking out the generators. If it all goes pear shaped you guys will be under the worst of it so you will need the heavy hitters. Ash's whole reason for being here is demolitions, and Shot Clock can provide you guys over watch and help make sure you don't get caught before your objective is complete. Once you guys have finished regroup with the infiltration team, either using some stealth or by fighting depending on if it has all gone to hell or not.

CC, Firewall, Amber, and myself will be the infiltration team. We need firewall to secure the data and make sure we don't get caught once the backup generator brings their internal security back up. Amber will make for someone with decent stealth capability and can probably help us make sure we don't get seen. I'll go in since I'm one of the smaller heavy hitters who isn't as showy or loud, and they'll need somebody to help make sure they aren't fighting without a bruiser if they get caught. We'll need CC because our group has the higher chance for injury." Cynia said quietly as she surveyed what they would be up against. It wasn't an ideal situation, but at least this seemed to be a fairly small base on the surface so they weren't breaking into anywhere too important.

"That's what I'm thinking anyway. If anyone thinks they have a better idea that is more than bust in and start trying to knock everyone out I'm up for suggestions." Luckily they were well hidden from their current position so they could choose when to start the attack with any luck.

As the group surveyed the area, Charlie looked unimpressed by the scene below. Man, this ain't a secret base! This is some Auction Hunters bull! Get someone a new batch of stained mattresses or something.

The other thing he noticed was the lack of interest from the security guards. They seemed as psyched as he was to be in New Jersey. The office building had to be the target, there was no way an evil cadre would store valuable information in something that could be broken into by a 14 year old with some wire cutters. Which meant that the nine lackeys strewn about would have to be dealt with. Least we get to waste some guys.

Cynia was talking, and Charlie was kind of tuning her out, at least until she got to his code name. Shit right, me Firewall. Gotta think of a better name. I don't think I have this suit making fire or nothing. As she explained what her plan was, he silently moaned in his head. Yeah, that's what I thought. Guard the tech guy. Man, I don't get to have any fun. As Cynia finished up, he adjusted the small pack on his back that contained his laptop. I'm going to have to try and find away to get this integrated into this suit as well. Better to do that than lug it around everywhere like a 12 year old. Guess that's something I can do back at base.

After Cynia stopped talking, Charlie commented, "Well, I guess I can't think of anything better. Let's just do this quick and easy, get the stuff and get out of Jersey. I'm drowning in the smell of sewage and suntan oil."

Shot Clock was surveying the area through her scope, trying her best to see if she could figure the patrol route for the guards and possibly anticipate where they'd be next. She noted all the guards that were visible, and how many of them she could take out before they'd go into a panic mode.

About 4 or 5, I'd say. Probably not a good idea before we know where Master Man is though, don't want him ruining this for us. She thought to herself while Cynia was detailing the plan.

After Agent Shen had commented Diana spoke, "Quick and easy sounds good to me."

"Right-o, let's be off then!" Millicent clicked her helmet into place, badly mimicking an English accent. She was glad that it was cool inside her armor: the heat never really suit her. "They look about as bored and itching for action as we are. Oh wait, yes, stealth mission. Well, in and out then, let's hurry up." She flexed her hands, covered in thin gloves, which were in turn partially shielded by lightly elongated vambraces. Full gauntlets weren't good for delicate finger movements necessary for quickly closing a wound without leaving a large zigzag of thread that would probably cause more pain than it helped. "After you, Ms. Basalt." she curtsied, looking more than a little awkward in the bulky metal.

"Right." Monaghan locked his helmet.

Welcome to the S.P.E.A.R.-Mark One Protective System, for use in hazardous environment conditions.

"Alright, team two, on me." He switched helmet visor to infrared and began moving towards the base. "Shot Clock, keep your rifle ready and follow from a hundred meters back. If you see trouble, don't hesitate, take the shot. McPhearson, Neil, Ash, follow me as close as you can and keep low to the ground. Don't let yourself get silhouetted." As they cleared the treeline, Monaghan dropped to all fours and began crawling towards the base, moving surprisingly quickly.

"Team one, you're with me." Cynia said as she moved out of the treeline. She wanted both groups to have overwatch as long as possible.

"Alright Firewall, first job for you is to find any kind of electronic alarm system and see if you can't make it think we aren't here. Or at least make it seem like a hell of a bug is in the system so they have to shut it off." She said as she moved.

Ash inspected his weapon, a suppressed MP7 submachine gun, as the battle plan was explained.

"Sounds as good as any plan. Ready when everyone else is."

He gave the magazine a firm slap to ensure it was in place and checked to see if the suppressor was secured. Afterwards, he did a quick patdown of his gear. A handful of spare magazines for his MP7, four frag grenades, and six blocks worth of C4. He wanted to carry some heavier ordinance, such as a missile launcher, but this mission called for stealth and subtlety. The extra weight would have hindered his ability to move quietly and efficiently.

"Alright, team two, on me...Ash, follow me as close as you can and keep low to the ground. Don't let yourself get silhouetted."

"Copy," Ash replied to Monaghan. He raised his weapon and followed the agent through the trees. After moving through them without incident, Monaghan suddenly dropped on all fours and began crawling. Despite his lanky appearance, the man was fast.

Alright, team two, on me

Well, at least I get some action before the shit hits the fan McPhearson thought glumly.
"Understood"
His armor was too bulky to keep up as quick a pace as Monaghan, so he settled on covering the rear. The stealth approach meant he couldn't conjure any of his usual weapons, leaving him with only his Beretta M9 held at the ready. McPhearson cursed under his breath; he hadn't been spending enough time practicing with real weapons.

"Monaghan, you are the one taking charge right now. I will not use my normal weaponry, lest you call out for it."

He scanned the area with his thermal sensors, noting any differences from the background noise.
"Alright, I am able to see a couple of guards at the front gates, and an odd reading from the storage area. Be on alert."

"I guess I should probably be able to do that," Charlie affirmed as he reached back in his pack for his laptop. He had left it in sleep mode, so it was ready to go. Once the screen flickered to life, the copmputer went searching for a suitable wireless signal, passwords be damned.

While waiting, he scrolled past the folders marked 'League of Legends' and 'Asian Stuff' to one labelled 'Toolbox'. It was where he kept the programs desired for more specific purposes than having fun. In there, he brought up one called 'CODE ALARM'. Designed to shut down security systems, he had perfected it on the various car alarms and locks around Tacoma and built it up by pitting it against more advanced systems. Charlie was confident that it would be able to the job.

The icon in the bottom right corner indicated that the computer had gotten a lock on a network that he could use to make a connection. "Got it. Shouldn't take long now." The program was making quick work of the setup. It was apparent that in their haste to set up this base, they hadn't given much thought to security outside of the goon squad out side. A green light on the screen meant one thing. "Annnnnnd, it's down. We're good to go."

"...McPhearson, Neil, Ash, follow me as close as you can and keep low to the ground. Don't let yourself get silhouetted."

"Riiight... 'cuz I'm real stealthy." Neil muttered into his helmet. Now that he was onsite and could get a better feel for the situation, he had a bit of a brainwave. "Monaghan, I've had a thought that'll probably improve everyone's odd on getting closer." He said into his comm. He dropped a marker into everyone's HUD, well outside the target's perimeter, and went on.

"If I set up here, I can provide cover fire between the generators and the main building, if they tweak that we're here and try to stop you, but I'm still close enough to rush in if you physically need me. Thoughts?"

"Do it. Keep an eye on Shot Clock, too." Monaghan reached the fence and pressed against the earth. Cut through it? Have Ash burn through it? Go over it?

Better idea. He extended the claws on his gauntlets and began digging, quickly burrowing a small hole under the fence wide enough for them to squeeze through. Probably good that Neil was hanging back, digging it out large enough for him to get in would be problematic.

"Alright, Ash, Mac, move up." He quickly squeezed through the hole and lay waiting, his hands resting on the ground, ready to spring into a leap to take out any problems.

McPhearson was on edge. Covering the rear was an uncomfortable position for him, and he felt weak without his Light armor on top of his SHIELD set. Crouching and squeezing through a hole in a fence felt alien to him; he'd much rather blow the front door open with his guns blazing.

He bent over as low as he could, but his armor's stiffened joints protested to the awkward position. He tore the hole a bit to make himself more room, and inched his way through.

"All this sneaking is making me uncomfortable. This seems too easy for anything associated with the Red Skull," he mused quietly to the squad.

His nerves were getting the best of him. He activated his thermal sensors again. No difference.
Something is wrong something is wrong SOMETHING IS WRONG His mind was on fire. He was exposed without his Light armor. He felt eyes watching him from the darkness.

He tried to calm himself, going through his favorite prayer for missions. The humor of it always calmed him. "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for I am the baddest ************ in the whole damn valley." He chuckled under his breath, and the eyes faded back into the darkness.

Soon his HUD began to light up; warnings from his thermal sensors. They were getting close to the generators "Shot-Clock, be on alert, we are close to our objective. Monaghan, how do you want to approach?"

"Good work Firewall. Let's get to our objective and try and get out of here." Cynia said as she followed through the hole under the fence a few other had taken. She pulled the fence up a bit to aid the others in getting under. She made sure that once she let go the fence would just go back to its previous position.

"Okay people, get under and let's get moving. Who knows how long we've got before it all goes to hell?"

"Copy that." Neil replied. Stopping at the point he'd highlighted, he raised his left arm and deployed his shield. Crouching to fit his massive bulk behind the metal wall, he locked down most of his armour, changing from a walking L.A.V. to an auto-cannon armed pillbox.

Sticking the barrel of his gun through the firing notch, he switched his feed to a sensor unit mounted just behind the muzzle, and got his range. Setting the FRAG rounds for an air burst just in front of the closest door from the target, Neil settled in to wait.

"Goliath online..."

I'm not really saying his callsign is 'Goliath'. He's just a bit of a nerd, and will drop random game quotes into his speech. Yes at some point you will hear a "I AM BULLETPROOF!"

Shot Clock was standing far back, just beyond the perimeter of the facility. She had taken up position and was now laying on the ground, monitoring the situation through the scope of her rifle. She was keeping an eye on the group that had gone past the fence, as well as looking around for any guard activity; no movement, they remained as bored as ever.

"Everything's still quiet. Doesn't look like the guards haven't detected any of you guys yet." she spoke into her headset, broadcasting the news to all team members. Finger on the trigger, she actively scanned the field, keeping an eye on potential targets.

Of course, just because things are quiet doesn't mean they don't know we're here. They could be waiting to get the drop on us... in fact there could be one sneaking up on me right now!

With that thought, Diana had to briefly glance back, just to make sure. Seeing nothing, she returned to her spotting duties.

Just like old times
CC got down and wiggled underneath the fence. Damn, I'm fat She stood up, resisting the urge to dust herself off. Metal on metal was a good way to make a lot of sound. "Now which building will we be going to?" It was odd that there were no thermal sensors or night vision around the perimeter, but hey, it made it easier for them. She decided not to turn on some music, deciding it would be best to stay alert.

Charlie checked his laptop for an indication of where the access point he had gotten the signal from, to determine where they should be going. Let's see, three bars, northwest bearing...should be...

"That large building up there," Charlie informed the doctor. "That's where the signal is coming from, so that must be where we have to go to get this data, I guess."
