The world is becoming more and more strange with each passing day. Aliens, sorcerers, mutants and ninjas; all manner of crazy things popping up everywhere. People who can stick to walls and turn into raging monsters. Terrorist cells of crazed cultists and nations lead by mad dictators. The world is a crazy place nowadays.

And that's where we come in.

We're the guys who are on the front lines, fighting the madness head-on. We don't wear bright costumes. We don't have second jobs. We don't end up in the headlines. We don't have a fancy mansion or high-class tower. But we DO have the best equipment of any force in the world. We do have the best training. We have the best and the brightest men and women of any organization in the world.

Welcome to the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. But you know it better as S.H.I.E.L.D.*

*(Yes, I know that's the movieverse name, even though this takes place in the mainstream universe, but I just prefer that name.)
[hr]

Rules

How this works
Arcs can be divided into two sections: Missions and Preparations.
- The missions are given to you by either Director Fury or one of his contacts. How the unit reacts is up to the players. Sometimes you need to stop AIM from smuggling in a new shipment of weapons. Sometimes you need to sabotage the tools of a group's upcoming back job. The GM will play the role of S.H.I.E.L.D command and the villains.
-Preparations is pretty much downtime. Your characters get to talk to each other. Get to know each other. Get to bond and become a better unit. Take the time to talk. This is as much a story of the unit as it is the missions they go on.

Who You Are
You can make your character any way you want. The backstory can be as brief or expansive as you want, but three details must always be the case:
1: You were a S.H.I.E.L.D agent before. You are not a brand new recruit when the RP starts.
2: You have been assigned to a new squad, by order of Nick Fury himself.
3: You have had at least one encounter with supervillains. It does not need to have been a fight, but it was an encounter. Varying results, but you did survive.

Powers
There are NO POWERS ALLOWED. You can be extremely skilled with a novelty weapon. You can be acrobatic. Or you can be skilled at hand-to-hand. Think Black Widow or Hawkeye, not Captain America.

You can have a special gadget that does something, but only one. And I will consider it a red flag if it isn't explained properly and you don't give a compelling argument as to why you'd use it. You'd be better off without one, but if you're confident in your argument, go for it.

Military Training
You are an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. So you are able to handle yourself in a fight. You won't be able to fight Captain America or Iron Fist, but most thugs won't last that long against you. Some other things to keep in mind:
- Having a specialty or a position in mind will help your chances of getting in. Maybe your powers will help whoever is on point. Perhaps you can be a communications expert. Or a medic. Have a role in mind.
- Most of the time, there will be no back-up. You might run into a superhero, but almost every time, their objective is different than yours, and you have a mission to deal with. The X Men have fought Magneto a thousand times, they'll be fine. You have a bomb to locate and defuse.
- Some supervillains are bound to show up in this line of work. Play it smart. Working together, you can take down guys like Scorpion, The Blob or Radioactive Man. But don't be an idiot and try and take on Red Skull, MODOK or Mandarin by yourself.

Equipment
-Firearms are available upon request, but all are given the standard issue S.H.I.E.L.D Plasma Pistol.

-The future is awesome. Everyone has a jetpack.

-Your uniform is made of a fire proof material and can withstand bullets from smaller firearms.

-Finally, you'll have a mid-level psi-blocker. While you won't be able to survive a concentrated attack by MODOK or Professor X, nobody will be able to detect you because of your thoughts.

Name:
Gender:
Age:

Appearance: (What you look like.)

Bio: (Your person's time in S.H.I.E.L.D. is the most important part. Anything else is optional)

Role in unit/Specialties: (What you are good at. If you specialize in a weapon, detail that here. Optional, but this might help your chances)

POSTING RULES
- Don't derail the story in favor of your own shenanigans
- One character per person unless you have been given permission to do otherwise
- Don't you dare write a single line and think it's a post. 1.5 is the absolute minimum. Try for 2-3 on average.
- Don't write posts that need to be translated from gibberish to English
- God-modders and/or god-moders will be nerfed into fucking extinction
- Write in third person, past tense

And most importantly...
- Anyone who submits a character must be committed to the RP

ALSO: For the sake of reference, this story will pretty much be like Marvel Ultimate Alliance: The Marvel Universe before the Civil War, and there will be almost no regard to what villains/Heroes were alive or dead during this time. So don't ***** to me about "oooh, Jessica Drew isn't Spider Woman right now in the comics!" or "Bullseye died in Shadowland! What's he doing here?" or "Why is Magneto not evil right now?" (For the record, these were all examples, not actual plot points that will happen.)[/quote]

Ok, this is my second time trying this. To anyone previously involved... Sorry with how the last one went. I was planning on this for a while, but before I did, I wanted to realize what went wrong last time.

1: I accepted too many people, and had a few really slow posters. My own fault, really. One of my earliest attempts at GMing.
2: The inclusion of powers kinda made me lose focus of what the RP was supposed to be, and I lost a sense of scale.
3: I didn't really plan out the individual missions, instead focusing on the overall narrative

To anyone previously involved, while you aren't guaranteed a spot, your chances are a little bit better. But just a little.

Reserved for accepted sheets. Note there will be a slightly long application period due to personal reasons.

Name: Shira Stern

Gender: Female

Age: 35

Appearance: Shira looks the part of a soldier, her black hair cut very short and her face dotted with scars, most notably the left side of her face around her ear, which is a mess of scar tissue and no ear. She has a smile best described as shark-like or predatory, although she insists that she's not trying to freak people out when she tells them to refill the coffee pot. She's of obvious Middle-Eastern descent, short and has a lithe build, but tightly corded with muscle. While on the helicarrier or base she's typically dressed in casual clothes, on missions she wears the issue SHIELD bodysuit, over which she wears a tactical vest with ballistic inserts and a number of pockets for holding tools and weapons.

Bio: Shira's early history is classified, but it's generally known that she's from Israel and before being recruited by SHIELD was an agent of Mossad, most probably an assassin. After her recruitment by SHIELD during the Tel Aviv Incident (also classified) five ago, and her training, she was assigned to a unit of SHIELD agents sent to deal with a suspected Hydra safehouse.

The insertion went off without a hitch, the group splitting into four teams and inserting at various points simultaneously. But upon their entry it was seen that there appeared to be no one present, the only sign that anyone had been present the still-warm stove and the half-finished plate of eggs. Soon after finding the abandoned table, they heard screams from upstairs where the fourth team had entered. Quickly moving to the second floor, they found the five shield agents - four dead, one dying and in shock. All sliced apart - disemboweled, dismembered, beheaded. All done with very skillful use of a very sharp blade.

That was when the agents made their second mistake, fanning out to search for the attacker. Only two minutes later, the screams were heard for a second time. Quickly gathering together, the two teams began making their exit from the house. That was when they made their third mistake - they formed a ring facing outwards.

The enemy was above them.

Dropping down into the middle of their ring, the massacre was sudden and swift. Within twenty second, seven agents were dead. Agent Kritschgau engaged the enemy in hand to hand combat, only to have his windpipe crushed by a palm strike to the throat. Agent Vorhoeven raised his gun, but lost his arm before being beheaded. The last survivor, Shira, managed to bring her gun into line and get off a shot, nicking the attacker's shoulder before he swung his blade, taking the fingers off her right hand before following through with a strike that would have split her skull if she hadn't moved, instead only losing most of her ear. The pain of her mutilation brought her to her knees, and she expected death to follow shortly thereafter.

When it didn't come, she looked up at her attacker, getting a look at him for the first time, a man in a black suit with a purple hood over his face. He looked back at her, and said, "Tell your Masters what comes to those who oppose Baron Zemo."

With that he left. SHIELD support arrived soon after, and her fingers and hand were placed into freeze. Later, they would be stitched back on, and she would regain the full use of her hand. But the scars of the massacre - physical and mental - would never fully heal.

Since that day, she has hunted for any lead, any clue she can to find Baron Zemo, desperately wanting him dead, not just to avenge the deaths of nineteen other SHIELD agents, but also to exonerate herself. When Director Fury asked for her explanation of her survival, she claimed that she managed to get away and escape through a window, unwilling to reveal that Zemo had allowed her to live, not wanting to live with the shame and humiliation she felt that would bring her.

Quick question: What's your stance on cybernetics/robotic prosthetics? Could we have a mechanical arm loaded with enough tech to crack a supercomputer, or a neural interface to help us hone in on a target half a mile away?

Or would you prefer it if we stuck with the good old conventional gadgets? Pen grenades, laser watches, grappling hook belts, and all that jazz.

Name: Terrence Colvan
Gender: Male
Age: 31

Appearance: Terrence is 6'3", not a fraction of an inch higher or shorter. "Big fella" is just about the only way to describe him. African by ancestry, and All-American at heart. He's a fairly handsome guy for his line of work, with a strong jaw and nose, but a sweet, momma's-boy expression in his big brown eyes. His keeps himself shaved down to only the barest coating of dark hair on his scalp. He keeps himself well-maintained in the gym, and his body seems as wide as it is tall. When in casual dress, he holds a preference for comfortable warm clothing, often sticking to a thick maroon turtleneck and sweats, switching into jeans when he goes out. When in the field, his standard suit is supplemented by an earpiece that projects a holographic tactical display into his retinas that gives him constantly updating info on the status of his teammates, and maps the the area around him, pulling up things of note. A decal of Spider-Man's logo is slapped onto its side, and he refers to it as the "Spidey-Sensor".

Bio: Terrence was born into a functional, typical upper-middle class family in Waukeegan, Illinois, where he stayed all the way through high school. Quarterback on the football team and star pupil of the Shop teacher. He chose to enter military service rather than go on to college, and ended up in S.H.I.E.L.D. As a standard field operative, Agent Colvan participated in [REDACTED] seek-and-destroy ops, [REDACTED] relocation ops, and [REDACTED]--[TOP CLEARANCE REQUIRED].

Agent Colvan made an identity for himself within S.H.I.E.L.D. relatively early in his service, becoming intimately familiar with the technical make-up of the organization's unique tech. Although classified and restricted equipment was beyond his reach, the Science Division took a liking to the "grunt with a brain" as they called him, and lent him surplus and scrapped gear to tinker with. Over the course of seven years, he applied his Shop experience from high school and disassembled everything he was given down to its basest parts, and from there pieced things back together to learn what did what. The familiarity with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s tech became a boon in field ops, where he was capable of performing quick repairs and patch jobs on the damaged equipment of his teammates. His tinkering also led to a bare-bones prototype of a device that could project a HUD directly onto an Agent's retinas, removing the need for bulkier visors and similar equipment. After sending it the Science Division's way, they refined the device from Colvan's clunkier, power-draining prototype and provided additional functionality to make it a viable recon tool in addition to a basic HUD. As thanks, he was allowed to requisition one from the first manufactured set. He slapped a decal of his personal idol on the side, and dubbed it the "Spidey-Sensor".

The decision to add Colvan to his current unit occurred approximately seventeen weeks after Agent Colvan's most recent assignment. Colvan's unit of twelve agents deployed to upstate New York, under orders to locate and secure the alien symbiote identified as "Carnage". The symbiote had holed up in a small town in the woods. A rural community bonded through shared religious views. The symbiote took a significant portion of the town hostage on Sunday morning, while the civilians attended mass. Agent Colvan's team infiltrated from the rear of the church building under cover of night, aiming to catch Carnage off-guard. Agent Colvan moved to higher ground to coordinate the attack. The rest of Colvan's team entered the chapel, locating all hostages unharmed. The symbiote immediately descended from the ceiling, where it had hidden in hopes to lure in the team. Colvan's unit was under-equipped for a CQC skirmish and was immediately decimated. Four KIA, Seven WIA. Colvan fired from his position in church tower to acquire the symbiote's attention and drew it away from the wounded and the hostages.

Carnage pursued Agent Colvan to the top of the tower, and engaged. Colvan suffered significant injuries, including seventeen lacerations to the torso, seven to the arms, four to the legs, and two to the face; eight puncture wounds wildly scattered across his body; one collapsed lung, and a bruised liver; three fractured ribs, seven toes, one left finger and the entire right hand, and a hairline fracture in the left femur. Contusions spread across the body were too extensive and overlapping to identify individually. During the course of the confrontation, Agent Colvan collided with the bell in the church tower, and observed Carnage behaving erratically in response, as if in pain. The report filled by Colvan following the incident elaborates that he had once observed a video posted on Youtube captured from an engagement between Spider-Man and the symbiote "Venom", where sonic attacks were used to devastating effect on the symbiote.

Agent Colvan slammed himself repeatedly into the bell, fracturing the rest of his right arm and another two ribs in the process. The extremely loud noise managed to incapacitate the symbiote, peeling it away from its host. Colvan didn't allow himself to stop until the symbiote, screaming in agony, had fled well out of town. Though Colvan lost consciousness moments later, local law enforcement took the symbiote's host into custody, and as of last update he remains in supermax.

While the recovery period was extensive, Agent Colvan's injuries proved temporary, but with a depleted squad that needed to be re-assigned. While the rest of his squad was re-assigned to Team Oracle in the [REDACTED] Theatre, Director Fury ordered that Colvan be kept behind. Technically, his mission had been a failure. The symbiote had escaped. On the other hand, as the Director put it, "He managed to turn a FUBAR into an arrest." His resourcefulness would be better suited to a different team.

Role in unit/Specialties: Is in charge of reconnaissance, using his Battlefield Recon Tool AF1, a.k.a. the "Spidey-Sensor" to provide much-needed, constantly updated intel to his team as a situation develops. Is also intimately familiar with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s field equipment, and carries tools so he is capable of performing the necessary repairs to keep it running for the duration of a mission.

Note: I added something akin to a 'novelty weapon' Azim has, more like a walking, talking, instant first aid kit that can kill him if he uses it too much.

Name: Azim Daoud, "Mickey"

Gender: Male

Age: 42

Appearance: Azim is a middle-eastern male in his early 40's. His skin color is olive, his flat-top cut hair is dark and his facial hair is shaven on a daily basis. His eyes are dark brown and his face features a few nasty scars. Azim is an average looking man, standing at a below-average height in a large frame. His broad shoulders and toned body make him appear like a small giant.

*"The old sage" is how the mouse prefers to call himself. It's a small mouse like creature that walks on both legs. It's a furry little thing with a tail and two slightly larger eyes. It's black and bloodthirsty; at least that is what he claims to be. Mickey rests near or on Azim at all times.

Bio: Azim is a former Jordanian special-operations operative before his recruitment to SHIELD. Besides the obvious classified information, there are a few tidbits that can be found from his past ? born in Amman, he finished his schooling at the top of his class and opted to join Jordan's security forces. His potential revealed, he became special-ops operative and dealt with undercover assassinations, bombings, kidnapping, defusing hostage situations and more. He participated in the infamous 'Tel-Aviv incident' five years ago as a Jordanian operative.

His life changed when he met a small rodent by mistake during the incident. He nearly stepped on the small thing but stopped when he heard his squeal. The two became inseparable ever since. The small creature can speak only to Azim and understand any human languages he can hear. The discovery of said critter was brought to the attention of SHIELD who tried to take it, but the little thing refused to leave Azim's side. SHIELD then reluctantly agreed to accept Azim as a field operative, and was content with his above-average performance.

While working on a mission to rescue several hostages from a hostile takeover by some unnamed foot-soldiers, Azim and his squad suddenly fell into a massive battle raging between Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four. Even though the squad desperately tried to finish their role, they were caught in the crossfire. Their dying bodies tossed aside to make room for more destruction, the only thing that saved their lives was Azim's little friend who healed the other squad-mates. They then grabbed Azim's dying body and fled the scene. Azim was healed by SHIELD, and the discovery of one of the little mouse's powers changed Azim and his role in the squad. From there on, he would operate as a combat medic, using his little friend's powers to his advantage.

Role in unit/Specialties: Mickey utilizes his little furry friend's obsession of sucking his blood to help heal downed agents. The mouse can help fix-up injured soldiers as long as it gets enough dose of blood from Azim himself. He does so by biting the other person and injecting them with his own cells that can help rebuild their bodies. However, the mouse can't heal Azim even if he wanted to, since all of his healing abilities are derived from synthesizing Azim's blood in his body. Azim can't heal a large amount of people without risking his own life or even dying. The mouse can't drink another person's (or anything for that matter) blood and expect the same result. It can sometimes lead to the mouse getting sick.

Otherwise, Azim is a trained special-ops operative and can hold his own in a fight. He is a team player and is very familiar with counter-terrorism.

Notes: SHIELD wants to investigate and study the unnamed rodent and would prefer to get rid of Azim and keep it for them. They are unsure what will happen to the creature if its human host is dead, so they don't want to kill him? yet.

Since this is Marvel, cybernetics would be all over the place. The general rules is this (this is for the benefit of anyone else curious as well):

They can't be superhuman. They can be top of the line and function just like the part they're replacing, but they're only as powerful as the original. There might be the implied benefits, like a robotic hand never having to worry about getting tired gripping something, or no pain if they're hit with something, but no actual combat advantages.

As a rule of thumb, If it sounds like it'd cost a fortune, don't bother. I'm being generous and assuming S.H.I.E.L.D has one hell of a health plan and can afford to replace limbs. That's as far as it goes. Unless your character has skills in engineering or robotics, there's no reason for it to be anything more than a highly advanced prosthetic. If you stick to these rules, I won't hold cybernetics against your character.

So yeah, just going for a conventional gadget would be a better bet.

Ok, I'm going to hold off criticisms for most sheets, but for the sake of fairness, I'll tell you this: One of the GM characters would be a communications expert. Basically just my in-RP excuse to give players info about the locations. There are other criticisms I have about your sheet, but to be fair to other applicants, that'll wait until a few more sheets get in. But the real killing blow to this sheet is the fact that this character would be redundant. However, it's a decent foundation.

EDIT: I realize I put "communications expert" in the OP, and I admit that was just me putting in random examples of specialties without thinking. Although I didn't think anyone would actually pick it, I should have thought ahead on that. Sorry for the confusion.

To everyone else who has made or plans on making a sheet, first round of GM criticisms are either on Sunday or more likely Saturday, depending on a few personal circumstances.

Name: Dr. Millicent Satine, aka CC

Gender: Female

Age: 39

Appearance: Millicent has long jet black hair. She always has it in a ponytail to keep it out of her face. She has thin glasses that she wears when it isn't a nuisance. When she is at the base, she wears a long lab coat, a black t-shirt and slacks, and a light blue scrubs top. Her skin is pale, and sprinkled with light freckles. She's slim and tall, an inch above 6 feet.

Bio: Millicent had traveled the world before she even turned 10. Her father was a pilot, and her mother worked from her computer as a translator. She became fluent in several tongues, including English, French, and Spanish, while picking up snips of several other languages. Where language was her hobby, human anatomy and physiology was her passion, and went into medicine as soon as she graduated high school. She went through the typical path to become a doctor, up until after medical school. Instead of taking an internship at a hospital, Millicent enlisted in the British army.

She served for 6 years as a medic before deciding to move on. Eventually she found herself in Hong Kong, working as a back alley doctor who'd do anything for the right price. It came naturally since she had already trained to do miracles with a pocket knife and some thread. From small time thugs who hit the wrong pawn shop to super villains without healing powers, Millicent made quite a name for herself, and made a nice stack of cash, and enough blow to make any rock star blush. It was the good life.

Unfortunately, her "talents" got her noticed by the local authority, and she had to work out a deal with the government so she wouldn't get thrown in jail for the bullshit charges they had on her. Again she found herself in the army, patching up men and women who had been wounded in guerrilla warfare. To be honest, it was fascinating: shrapnel produced some of the most creative injuries. The strict work environment, and the fact that she was basically a prisoner, helped her straighten out into a doctor worthy of a license again. Not that her skills had ever dulled, but they tend to frown upon doctors who took a few shots of coke before surgery.

She didn't have any idea how S.H.I.E.L.D found out about her, but she was glad they got her out of the Orient. It's been 3 years since she started, and it's been eventful. This is her first field offer: hopefully it'll be a nice change of pace.

Role in unit: Medic/Translator

All right. I can change the specialty, but I'm going to wait until the criticisms make the rounds so I can handle everything at once.

how did you guys do that thing where you click on the name and the text pops out? I used to know how but it's been a while since I've posted on the forums regularly. Would love to join, though. this sounds fun.

Ok, I assume you mean spoiler posts. to do that, you do this but get rid of the Xs in front of "spoiler"

[Xspoiler= Name of your character] text that pops out, in this case the character sheet [/Xspoiler]

like this

He'll tell you at his own pace, ease up.
And I can answer my own questions. I appreciate the sentiment, but take it easy as well.

@Glasgow: to be honest... I'm not sure how to handle that. I'll get back to you on Saturday.

And yes, it will now be Saturday now that the schedule's been cleared up. Assuming I remember, it'll be past midnight eastern time. If I forget, it'll be in the afternoon.

ALSO, IMPORTANT NOTE:
I might consider a skype group. Inclusion isn't mandatory, but appreciated.

Appearance: Hillbrook is 6?1? with dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. He?s Caucasian with a subtle but noticeable tan, due to his former service as a U.S. Marine in Afghanistan. He weighs about 200 pounds, most of which is muscle. He?s well built, muscular, and possesses great strength. In essence, he is a walking tank of a human. He?s also pretty fast, but don?t expect him to win any marathons. He favors shirts featuring his favorite bands with camo pants or shorts when off duty, but on duty, the S.H.I.E.L.D outfit has the plasma pistol, a combat knife for close quarters, the standard issue jetpack, his psi-blocker, and a pair of brass knuckles his late uncle gave him when he entered into the Marines 12 years ago. They were mostly a sentimental possession, but when he entered S.H.I.E.L.D., he had them modified to have small serrated blades on the end that shred an opponent when struck (side note: I was hoping to have that as my gadget, but if not, no biggie). He is a natural fighter, willing to get down, dirty, and up close with his opponent. He is also an effective soldier, knowing his way around small arms and military ground tactics from his service in the Marines as well as S.H.I.E.L.D.

Service: Joe Gunther Hillbrook was born in America and served in the U.S. Marines. Rumor has it he wanted to become a boxer but joined up with the Marines when the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan broke out. He served faithfully for seven years before getting an offer to join S.H.I.E.L.D. His combat skills and extensive field work attracted the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D. and he was offered a position of field agent. He has been with S.H.I.E.L.D. for 5 years and has been involved on several missions. One mission, however, almost got him expelled from the organization. On a discreet assignment in Calcutta, working with another agent, Myra Blalock, he was trying to hunt down a terrorist thought to be responsible for the assassination of one of S.H.I.E.L.D.?s regional officers. The person responsible turned out to be The Taskmaster.

The operation was meant to be a simple recon, snatch and grab mission. Figure out where the assassin is, report his location, and take him in for interrogation to learn more about where he received his orders from. Hillbrook, sick of waiting, went in before being given the go ahead. When Hillbrook and Blalock moved in to capture him, Hillbrook triggered a trap the Taskmaster set up. During the chaos, the Taskmaster made his escape, and Hillbrook and Blalock gave chase. They chased him through the streets, comprising their position in Calcutta. They cornered the Taskmaster in an alley, but in the struggle, Blalock was killed and the Taskmaster escaped.

Hillbrook was suspended and submitted himself for evaluation. He took complete responsibility for the mission, citing, ?I was too eager, too focused on the enemy and not the mission. I failed the mission entirely, and Blalock?s death is my fault.? His suspension lasted for a few months, but he was eventually reinstated. The executive director, Nick Fury, liked his work and knew he would be a great asset if a major war were to start, calling him, ?an exceptional soldier.? Given how unstable the world is, it?s constantly on the brink and Fury feels we need every soldier we can get. He assigns Hillbrook to a new posting in London, where Hillbrook awaits orders for his next mission. He secretly hopes the mission pits him against the Taskmaster, for he is the only person who has bested him in combat, and he wouldn?t mind going another round.

Role in unit/Specialties: Hillbrook is a natural grunt. He?s great in close up fighting, where he can soak up damage and give it back just as easy. He?s also skilled in small arms fire, such as pistols, shotguns, and assault rifles. Discretion isn?t always his strongest suit, but he can stay under the radar if the mission requires it. If you need something killed, he?s your guy.

Name: Chloe Mandez
Gender: Female
Age: 28

Appearance: Small would often be the first word used to describe this Brazilian-American. She weighs a little over ninety pounds and is only a few inches above five feet. Cute(and variations thereof) would normally be the second word. Her hair is short, barely reaching the mid-point of her ears, and dark and soft as satin, emerald eyes adorn a face with a single scar that reaches from her bottom lip to her chin. A cluster of three freckles near her left eye are the only other blemish from her, relative to most people, immaculate skin. The last of her defining characteristics is a tattoo,a rope of many colors starting from her left foot, wrapping around her torso, and ending around her right ankle.

The tattoo hides most of the injuries she accrued during Crossbones' questioning of her, though small bits of scars can be seen around her arms and torso. Each of her toes, and an entire hand has been broken, leaving her with a left hand scarred from multiple surgeries undertaken to save it.

Her off-duty wear consists of jean skirts, kapris, blouses, and everything except heels.

Her Shield equipment is completely standard, save for one small addition. Around her wrists are two compartments, each housing two dart that has gone through a handful of tests and deemed effective against some superhumans and all regular humans. This gadget consists of two parts, the launcher and the dart itself.

The launcher is standard, with a maximum range of thirty yards and a laser sight that doubles as a small laser burst to punch through some armor and carry the dart to the target.

The dart houses a compound that within two heartbeats of striking, delays and somewhat destroys(for lack of a better word) the brain's ability to command the muscles of the body, resulting in spasms or complete stillness depending on the victim. This allows easy capture of priority targets for interrogation and processing.

Bio: Miss Mandez was born in northern Louisiana, her father a middle class business success, her mother a Brazilian drug princess. Despite always asking how they met as a child, she was never able to find the real answer to the question. She remembers a few visits from her grandfather, and a week in Brazil during her summer vacation, but that was it. The nagging at the back of her mind drove her to finding out the secrets of others as she aged however. To begin with it was simple, she listened to the kids at school talking and found out certain things, and then it slowly escalated over her school career. It ended with her being given community service the summer after graduation, she would've gotten actual jail, but she was still a minor at the time, having graduated a year early.

She entered into college and again found a place rife with secrets for her to pull from people, sometimes by talking, other times by pressing certain buttons to get them to reveal what she wanted. She only spent a year there however, as a paper she wrote detailing the worthlessness of certain interrogation techniques on the human psyche, caught the attention of certain government contractors. She was given a choice between going through school finding out inconsequential tid-bits, or she could help ferreting out REAL secrets that could concern millions, or a building of mice. This intrigued her and she took the apprenticeship. For the next five years she spent time learning the tools and trade of government "Contractors". From torture to mind-bending, subtle hypnotism to outright screaming, playing the part of the Interrogator was her calling.

At 23, she was one of the youngest and most successful American Interrogators in a decade. Bombs were found long before their appointed boom-date, files emptied of information were filled again, and the unmasking of certain(unsupered humans all) individuals occurred from her expertise.

Skip forward another year, and Chloe been brought in to deal with a man captured by SHIELD, who they knew knew the location of a relatively weak superhuman, but who could lead them to a hideout of the Brotherhood, and take them down before they attacked the surrounding populace. They gave her two hours, at the conclusion of which she had the location. As she was leaving, she was offered a position at SHIELD. A new place to hone her skills, and find out even more secrets, information that would often be even harder to extract simply because of the fanaticism some superhumans garnered or directly implanted in their subjects.

Chloe's gone through some training while at SHIELD, to where she is more than just a simple information extractor, but a field agent that has routinely been called upon to extract and "punish" certain individuals. One of these missions very nearly resulted in her death.

Her team was originally sent in to capture and secure the Voice. They managed to take down the Voice easily, relatively speaking, and were in the process of leaving the compound when the real threat appeared. Former Skeleton Crew Leader Crossbones had awaited their arrival and left the Voice slightly weakened through use of a mild sedative. Dispatching four of the six in seconds, leaving only Chloe and her commander to fight him, he approached and knocked both out easily, though Chloe was able to get one lucky hit in as his back was turned, freezing his arm for a few moments before she too was knocked unconscious.

She awoke secured to a surgical table in the basement, a light above her bright enough to shine dimly through the thick blindfold around her eyes, and the sound of sharpened metal. Known for being trained in interrogation, primarily torture, she expected pain and received it. Hooked to a machine constantly replacing blood and keeping her awake and alive, he questioned her on the whereabouts of the SHIELD Hellcarriers. Throughout the questioning, she slowly freed a hand, and after achieving this feat, had no idea what she was going to do next.

After having each of her toes broken a bone at a time, she was relieved by a voice coming from behind her instructing, by the sound of it, and in a language unknown to her, though it definitely sounded Slavik. Slowly reaching around to the other binding, she released her other hand and slowly reached for the dart launchers around her wrist. Having those now readied, Chloe prepared herself for the pain she was sure to come as she would begin moving quickly and wildly. Ripping off the blindfold, she was momentarily blinded by the lamp she had been literally sweating under for the better part of the night. As her eyes adjusted to the sudden change, she looked around to see her team piled in a corner, each bearing roughly the same marks as she had, though with the added injury of their necks being twisted in ways that she determined to be fatal.

Slowing her breathing back down, she looked around behind her, where Crossbones was currently talking, head bowed, to someone behind a statue. Aiming the weapon at him, she forgot, in her pain and drug addled brain, that the laser sight gave her away. Firing the dart, he deftly dodged it and came sprinting for her, quickly covering the distance as time slowed. A crash from behind and a spinning, single-starred shield came from around a corner, slamming into the masked mercenary and sending him crashing into his table of tools. Seconds behind the shield, the Captain charged into the recovering Crossbones. The two exchanged a few blows, both equals, despite Crossbones lacking the serum giving America the edge in speed and strength.

However, the intervention of the Voice, still alive and rightly angry at Crossbones from leaving him as bait, approached. This caused Crossbones to flee and his employer, the Red Skull(the reason CA had appeared at the compound in the first place), to leave as well, having gained nothing of note from the operation. The two stumbled back to base, the dead SHIELD agents in tow, though one was found to still be alive and treated, though would be spending much of the rest of his life in a wheelchair and no longer fit for field duty.

Role in unit/Specialties: Interrogator and Subduction Techniques expert.

With her extensive background in Interrogation, she has incorporated the skills she learned into her combat repertoire, making her very dangerous for many one-on-one, and ruthless while questioning, even should it be in the field and with limited equipment.

Ok, the glaring flaw I really see here is the "early history is classified" bit, which in and of itself is fine, but there's almost nothing at all to this besides the incident with Zemo. The incident itself is fine, but that's pretty much the entire bio. In terms of appearance and gear, it's fine. Thing is the sheet is kinda middle of the road. Not great, but certainly not bad.

I already mentioned my biggest problem with your sheet, in role and equipment. My other issue is that your character managed to fight against Carnage and not only surviving, but forcing it to flee. I know he almost didn't make it, and there was a long recovery period, but it does bother me.

Ok... how necessary to the character is it that the mouse can heal? I don't mind the mouse, there are plenty of quirky SHIELD agents with weirder stuff. I can even understand the mouse understanding and speaking, because the RP would have them interact anyway, so an in-universe explanation doesn't bother me. Just it seems that with limited info, I'm not really sure how to handle this.

But other than that, I have no criticisms of the sheet. I think your sheet also has the best example of an encounter with a supervillain.

The sheet itself is good, it's just lacking a few details. The bio pretty much ends as soon as she joins SHIELD. I get that you said she had experiences with supers, but a specific example would be appreciated. Also, a bit of specification on combat capability would improve this.

The gadget is fine. Can't really think of any real stand-out flaws. The biggest flaw really is the character is pretty simple. Seems average. However, what made me like this sheet is in the way you wrote him. Makes mistakes , but takes responsibility, and has a bit of motivation.

First off a minor nitpick: I'm no medical expert, but 90 seems underweight, even for someone around her height. But that's just me, I could be wrong.

The real problem is the fact that an interrogator would no purpose purpose on a field team. While she'd be useful in SHIELD, she'd likely be working at one of the prisons or on the Helicarrier. The subduction thing is a little more practical, however.

Second, while I can understand probably understand your reasoning, your character didn't actually have an encounter with a supervillain. She did something that had something to do with a supervillain, but not actually encounter one.

OK! That's the first round of criticism done! Not sure when the next one will be.

Just so I'm getting this right, a prerequisite for being a part of your SHIELD is they HAVE to have come into direct contact with a supervillian? Because to be honest, my Marvel knowledge is about as rusty as water on the moon(I'm roughly fifteen years out of date) and I have a slight hatred of screwing with established lore when I can avoid it by doing something like this.

Sure, you could argue for her that as an Interrogator, she could/should/would be at base or a prison somewhere, but she's still a SHIELD agent, her specialty is simply extracting information as quickly as possible, a valuable skill in the field in some cases I'd have to say, not to mention her quick and easy techniques of subduing mooks.

And yes, she's a bit underweight you could say, though it has more to do with her just simply being lighter than most people and not an actual deficiency.

The very existence of this little creature is what made SHIELD so interested in Azim in the first place. I'll give you the right to do whatever you want with this little critter (when it comes to his limitations and backstory), because he won't talk about his past before his encounter with Azim. Who knows, you could use it in the plot.

The little critter's healing ability is limited to the blood Azim can afford to lose. I thought that having him around could make Azim more useful than just being a hunk of flesh that shoots stuff efficiently. He won't have any other abilities besides that (and understanding different human languages). He's like a walking, talking first aid kit and it was the thing that made SHIELD so interested in Azim in the first place.

1: No, you do not have it right. Mostly because the encounter is ideally AFTER they joined SHIELD. The point of the confrontation, at least for the RP, is to establish that they have experience in conflicts involving supers. A sort of in-universe explanation as to why your character won't get killed by someone with powers, either as a target or collateral damage, the instant the fight starts like most nameless mooks do. A reason other than plot armor.

2: The subduction thing is, in my opinion, a much better trait to focus on, but you focused more on the interrogation part. Just noting that. Perhaps you should expand on that a little more.

Ok... As long as the mouse isn't a complete replacement for a medic, more an emergency fix, I might be willing to let it slide, depending on how any future sheets coming in might go. But do keep a clear limitation in mind. If you get in, I'll be willing to negotiate that over PMs.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! This is my first foray into a forum RP, so I wanted my character to be an average guy to start. In RPG's like Dragon Age or others like it, I typically play as a soldier before experimenting with more complex classes. I like being the guy who can just wreck stuff. He's also kind of like an empy canvas where I can put in backstory and more info on him as we progress, but the backstory already in place serves as a good jumping point for this guy. I thought about submitting a more detailed story but didn't want to clutter up the forum. I'm excited to see where this goes though. Seems like you're putting together a good roster!
