Hey, so I was just introduced to this like a few weeks ago from a friend. I looked it up and saw how much it cost and all, but I decided to try it out. I wanted to know what everyone on here though of it. I mean, I looks fun and all but I've heard some stories and like that it's a big problem with the law.

It's fun and a lot cleaner than paintball, but it hurts like hell. Make sure you have all the proper gear and do it somewhere like in a forest or a construction yard. In fact, don't do it anywhere BUT a construction yard.

Its a big problem if you bring them into public places or point them at cops. Aside from that it hurts, if you happen to be a pussy.

Be careful... the law is over me because of it.

But go ahead and buy in, just play in regulated areas, look up laws to see if you can go play in a friend's yard or your own... wear a coat, jeans, GLOVES (watched a friend get his knuckle skinned to the bone in paintball before), and goggles.

Its a blast. Pun very much intended.

It's only a big problem with the law if you go parading them about in public, because if a police officer see's you with what appears to be an M4 over your shoulder.. you're pretty much fucked. I've tried both, and much prefer paintball :) the guns tend to be cheaper, and while paintballs are alot more expensive than BB's, I find it to be much more action packed and exciting. I'd say try both before you go shelling 100's on gear.

Yeah, I got some gear and I'm pretty sure that's it's legal to play here, I've looked up some of the laws. I just can't remove the orange tip and go walking around in public. I also need to go out of the city limits.. .so that's far as hell but what ever haha.

One from Finland here.

Police are a lot more lax about it here... I heard from the people I play that they got a "permission" from the police to airsoft when someone called them about airsofters shooting at windows in their old place (though my friends assure it absolutely was not them, even accidentaly or otherwise. There apparently were other airsofters using it too). When the police came to talk to them, it appeared they were apparently annoyed having to deal with "kids playing war" and basically told them "go play in that other forest over there".

It's still not exactly what I consider legal, and now that practically everyone of us is old enough to be charged, I think we should move from there. The problem is that aside from couple more enthuastic guys in the group, the airsofters I play with are lazy as hell and hardly get their asses there (games get constantly cancelled because only few would come or because the guy X is not coming his friend Z is not coming whose friend Y won't come if X won't come), let alone *gasp* a place you need to change a bus once to go to.
Sigh... I need to get to know other airsofters from my area in the next scenario if any show up.

Still it's pretty lax with the police apparently, despite that Finnish airsofters never use orange tips.

Fun as hell! Just don't use them in a public place or point them at cops, its a great way to get shot. Getting a few inexpensive guns and screwing around with friends was something my friends and I always did in HS/College. Sometimes they start to get expensive though and at some point you might as well get a real gun for the same price.

eh, I used to have an airsoft pistol, but all I used it for was shooting my little sister whenever she tried to come into my room. I prefer paintball.

Well, I'm in Oregon, and apparently you need to get permission from like 20 different organizations along with land permission and all of this bullshit and red tape..

Airsoft is great fun, but you need to take care not to brandish airsoft weapons in public. Find a good place to play (legally), and take good care of your equipment.

I play from time to time, and I REALLY enjoy it!

its pretty fun, the weapons are better in range of types than paintball, in some places its hard to find teams that play though and people can cheat easier than in paint ball. but its still a blast. ((cleans up his chaingun)) :0

Hurts? naaah it is nowhere close to Paintball type of hurts.
Also if you are playing with experienced people they usually have something for mid-long ranges and a sidearm pistol for close quarters(15ft and closer).
When we play we usually are out in full uniforms, so sometimes in the heat of the action it is a big problem to tell if you got hit. So, pretty much it only hurts if you are crazy enough to play it on the beach naked.

It's cleaner than paintball and you are not covered with greasy sticky sand all over after a game. Plus all the guns and accessories, have to be careful not to get hooked up on that, I have a friend who got more than a 100 guns, a crap load of accessories and a uniform for almost every major army force in the world, he got it all in about 9 years. I'm lucky he lets me borrow most of it.

Ehhh, so many mixed results, I guess I'll just have to go out and get shot and see how bad it hurts lol.

Wear full sealing goggles at all times. Don't be an idiot. Don't go shooting full auto into someone from 5 feet away. Don't shoot somebodies teeth out. Don't show your 'friend's your gun. Especially in public. Don't play in public areas. Don't take your orange tip off.

Airsoft is a great fun time, I love it and have been to two international events here in the states involved hundreds of airsofters.

But for the love of god there are idiots out there who are going to get airsoft rifles banned, don't become one of them. I trust you, which I probably shouldn't because this is the internet.

Also, don't get a gun that shoots over 400fps.
