And just to rub it more into the faces of some:

Yes. Those people are the gaming community.
Particularly in the case of this guy - he's right there in the "latest content" bar. To my knowledge he hasn't released anything remotely resembling a public apology for that statement.

And kudos on your "Worst of Asshattery 2012" compilation - people need to understand that yes, this sort of thing is an issue, and no, it's not okay.

Aisha, if anyone hated your hosting of the conference because they thought that you aren't a "true gamer", then yes, they should GTFO.

However, everyone else hated your hosting of the show because of the bad jokes, creepy sexual innuendos ("lady-boner?"), and for letting Tobuscus do something other than YouTube.

I would've thought that you learned that after your embarrassingly annoying uber-humor in the Halo Reach beta video.

It's more her meaning she's been playing games since most people flaming her were even born, thinking she's not a 'real gamer'. Personally, I found that absolutely hilariously brilliant. I also couldn't help but read that as her yelling as she does in Archer.
I guess that's good and everything, but all in all, it won't really change anything. People going on about her not being a "real" gamer (what does that even mean?) won't stop because of this.

I admit I'm blatantly uninformed on this subject. Why are people saying she isn't a real gamer in the first place? Googling returned only this rant, so that's a dead end.
From what I can tell, it's essentially because she's famous (Not as much as many other actors, but enough to be recognised by a wider audience than some random who works at say...IGN. Or Gamespot.). People then think that all she does is get given a list of game related things, and gets paid a lot of money to read that list out.

As for what a 'real gamer' is. To me, a real gamer is someone that appreciates gaming as the art form it is, and plays games for the entertainment they bring. Nothing more, nothing less. A 'real gamer' by a large portion of peoples definition is someone who does nothing but plays games, and sees them more as a lifestyle than a hobby. These are generally the basement dwellers.

Girls are legally allowed to love games and be public about how much they enjoy them.
No! No they aren't! It's a super secret boys only club!
[small]I might get cooties..[/small]

OT: Don't know who she is or why people are getting so pissy about it but she has my respect for standing up to them.

She still did a shit job presenting it.
Not as bad as Tobuscus, but then again that's not really difficult to do.

I liked her enthusiasm, but honestly her attempts at telling jokes were all pretty bad. Pretty much same comments apply to Tobuscus as well.

OT: Didn't know there was a backlash, but I guess I'm not surprised. I guess gratz to her for standing up for herself? I don't see the point in responding to trolls though.

"How many games have you done voices for?"

None, but, then again, VO and acting aren't my profession, so what's your point?
If the issue is whether or not she's enough of a 'gamer' to be hosting part of E3...yeah. I think participating in the production of video games qualifies.

fozzy360 said:
"I was the voice in not one, but two major video game titles."

You, and dozens of other folks who regularly VO as a job. Stunning accomplishment.
...are you trying to invalidate accomplishments based on the number of people who've done the same thing?

fozzy360 said:
"I get invited to E3 because real gamers know I'm a gamer."

Or maybe because you're a personality who's moderately famous, which in turn will attract some publicity to the event in question.
And one who avidly plays video games. That's a rather important part of it.

fozzy360 said:
Also, "real gamer?" The fuck does that mean?
An actual gamer, as opposed to a pretty face who hasn't touched a controller in her life, as a startling number of people seem to think.

Whatever. It's a childish rant that does nothing to or for anybody. I still enjoy her work, though.
That's...actually a nice concession. I admire the ability to take issue with someone's actions while not letting it color your perception of their work.
My main beef with a lot of her points is that she uses them to show off how much of a "true gamer" she is by pointing out all the VO she's been in and the press conferences she's been invited to and all the attention she gets. Like one guy saud earlier, it comes off as someone insecure in what they do when they get called out by idiots and trolls. She should know that kind of shitheads that roam around and cause mischief just for the sake of it. That's just the internet, but she rebounds by pointing out all these accomplishments when they aren't really accomplishments (the VO) or they're just plain irrelevant. I really don't like it when people use that "true gamer" crap to convince people how they're such big gaming fans. If it had been a snarky little post on Twitter or Facebook, I'd think it'd be funny and the best response, but she's basically fanning the flames here.

Like I said, this won't change my opinion of her work. If I had let celebrity's antics alter whether or not I watch their work, I'd be watching nothing except The Weather Channel.

Who is this person and why should I care?
YOU STOLE MY EXACT WORDS YOU FUCKING NINJA BEAR!

Seriously, I was going to say exactly what that guy just said.
And it's not even coming from a place of snarky comments. I genuinely have no clue who she is.

Then again maybe thats a good a thing. There are times I really cringe when I wonder how many braincells are in my head being wasted on what I know of Kim Kardashian. I in NO WAY need that information, sadly the mind does not have a wastebasket icon.

Didn't she, like, utter "girl boner" 3-4 times?

Sorry, but that sucks the credibility right out of pretty much anything. I never put her legitimacy as a gamer into question, though.

But that's the thing: it wasn't just Youtube comments and whatnot. When actual gaming sites are dismissing you for reasons that are flat-out untrue while simultaneously trying to maintain some sort of journalistic integrity, then you've got a reason to be pissed off.

I'm still not sure why you've got such disdain for voiceacting.

But the point I'm getting at is that she isn't pulling a 'No true Scotsman' thing. She isn't claiming that she's a 'true' gamer while everyone else is...a 'fake' gamer, I guess. It's a matter of simply being a gamer, which no one seemed to consider possible for her.
