Right, so i got some spare cash and in a store nearby they're both enough to get. But only one. I've heard mixed opinions about FF13 and i've played quite a few FF's myself, my favourite being FF10. Alan Wake also looks interesting but i'm not entirely sure on it though. Also, if you any suggestions for other games, gimme!

So, go ahead. Gimme your opinions!

If your favorite was X then there is a good chance you will like FFXIII, so try getting that.

Both of them are like putting your teste's in a meat grinder so I really recommend neither. This is coming as a fan of Final Fantasy as well.

FFXIII= 60+ hours of gameplay.

Alan Wake= 8 hours of gameplay.

You have the power!

I believe you mean FF XIII = 60 hours of cutscenes.

Just kidding (or am I?), I haven't raelly put much into the Final Fantasy franchise so I would recommend Alan Wake. Why? I don't even think I could give you a good reason.

I would suggest FFXIII. I finished Alan Wake in a day. I still haven't finished FFXIII. If you want a game to last you then its pretty clear what you should do.

However you shouldn't completely write-off Alan Wake, it is a relatively fun game with some fantastic atmosphere and some decent combat, not perfect but it gets the job done. Wait until the price for Alan Wake comes down a bit before getting it though.

My vote: Final Fantasy XIII. Huge game. Huge story. Not as expansive as other Final Fantasy games unfortunately but still, that's my suggestion.

Alan Wake is great but you can beat it in ten hours or less, so I'd recommend renting that one.

FFXIII is much longer, so you'll get more for your money. On the other hand, a lot of people HATED it, so you're taking the risk that you will, too. I somewhat enjoyed it but wouldn't blame anyone for despising it.

Support Alan Wake! There might not be a sequel because it got so poor sells...

Hmm, its kinda what i was worried about. Could you recommend some other games aswell to get at the moment? We're kinda in the dry season for games now.

Red Dead Redemption - Got it, great.
Alpha Protocol(Spy RPG) - Didn't look good and bad reviews.
Crackdown 2(came out today)- Played demo, didn't like it.
Transformers War For Cybertron - Got it.
Tales of Vesperia(best jrpg of this generation if you can find it, puts FFXIII to shame)- I'l take a loook.
I put in my opinions in the quote :p

Alan Wake, simply because it's a better game in my humble opinion. Not the best out there, but it's worth getting.
If longevity's an issue, then I'll have to concede it to FF13.

I recommend Alan Wake. You get more longevity out of FF13, but the issue is, it feels like you need to beat a really crappy game (the first 30 hours of FF13) before you get to the enjoyable game.

If you want sheer longevity, go for FF13.
If you want gameplay, atmosphere, or story, go for Alan Wake.
