ACDC is bland 3 chord rock, with no variation on any formula that has ever been used before. Pink Floyd is at best a 6/10 band that just sounds like other psych rock and prog rock bands before them (both Gong and Giles, Giles and Fripp come to mind)
Ozzy's solo albums were just worse Black Sabbath albums
Led Zeppelin plagiarized their songs and used Cream's sound
I don't anything about that Clapton album
Paranoid was good
Black was just plain old bad and I'm not even going to go over it cause a 3 second search online will reveal every reason why it could be
I'm not familiar with anything up til Imogen Heap, who is a quality singer but I haven't heard her stuff or The Smashing Pumpkins, who I guess were slightly creative and whatever

talking about the sound of it?

I'm all for a discussion about music and bands, but not a discussion where it just seems like someone is bashing on everyone else's taste in music.

Sure except I was giving my take on one person's music taste and then instead of attempting to discuss what I said, you complained. So maybe
just maybe
you could try discussing

That may have been the case. But then you said this:

I thought this forum was for people older than 13
To me, this is a rude and demeaning comment to make about someone. Not because of what you said, but because of how you said it. I'm not trying to stop you from stating your opinions. What I want is that you try to be respectful towards others when doing it.

I can't really offer my opinions on a lot of these bands you commented on. Some of them I like, but I haven't listened to them in ages. I did a sort of "reset" of my whole music collection almost a year ago. I started over after having pirated all my music during my teens, to only listening to music I had bought legally.

I'm now thinking the same thing, except, about you. They have a different taste in music than you, so what? I'm not a fan of many of those albums but that doesn't make the person that likes them a 13 year old with . Could you tell me the age limits on certain groups please? Also, I'd love to hear what grown-ups like yourself listen to!

Down - "NOLA"
Baroness - "Red" , "Yellow"
Deftones - "White Pony"
Godsmack - "Godsmack"
Gojira - "From Mars to Sirius"

I agree, Devin Townsend is so great! I especially like "Ziltoid", "Terria", "Accelerated Evolution" and "Ocean Machine" being my favorite.

The Offspring - Americana
Eminem - The Slim Shady LP
Daft Punk - Discovery

I don't listen a lot of complete albums

Edit: Mentioning "Greatest Hits" albums is kind of cheating isn't it?

Dear god. I've been through three pages and haven't seen any electronic acts except for Daft Punk...

Fine, I guess I'll have to be the one to get contemporary up in this piece:

Dillon Francis - Something, Something Awesome
Kill the Noise - Kill Kill Kill
Knife Party - Rage Valley
Zomboy - Game Time
Skrillex - Bangarang
Edit - Crying Over Pros for No Reason
Feed Me - Escape From Electric Mountain

And now to get a bit 90's because no one seems to be representing Hip-hop either:

Two from Dre: The Chronic and 2001
Wu Tang Clan - Enter the 36 Chambers
Method Man - Tical 2000 Judgement Day
Geto Boys - The Foundation
Madvillian - Madvilliany
Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass

Hopefully this will bring some balance because as it stands now all I see is essentially metal and indie. Not knocking the genres (I'm a musician and a DJ, they're all about the same to me), just saying branch out!

Edit: And not one mention of Amon Tobin that I've noticed! THE FUCK?!

Amon Tobin - Foley Room

Little to no IDM?!

Aphex Twin - Drukqs, Richard D. James Album
Clark - Body Riddle
Tim Exile - Listening Tree (Oh my god, the things this man does in this album make Trent Reznor look like a dumb pretty boy, and that's not easy.)

And because I love the 80's:
Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes
Tears for Fears - Songs From the Big Chair
Yazoo - Upstairs at Eric's

And because no one has these Indie gems on here:
You Say Party! We Say Die! - Hit the Floor
The Epoxies - Epoxies

My whole non-supercell list is electronic music. And even ryo (supercell) makes some electronic music.

Just saying.

You can also add in all of Knife Party's EPs too. Love those.

I saw that right after I made my post, and appreciate that I'm not the only one, believe me. That's why I said "I've been through three pages" Only went through the first three and then had to speak up.

Savant and KOAN Sound are both epic (and you listing them is why they aren't on my edits).

So, yeah, cheers and whatnot.

Pffft, you should read the whole thread first!

But I really understand what you're saying. This thread really made me feel like I was in a minority with my electro-wibbly-wabbly stuff.

Have you listened to any ELECTROCUTICA?
Treow is a boss. Probably one of my favourite tracks ever.

You should also check out Electrocado if you haven't.

I could barely sit still as I read the three pages I did read, I wish I had that patience, haha.

It is weird, I've noticed this site is more rock oriented. Possibly because of the big push rock got on the 90's+00's gaming scene? Still, how can gamers not go nuts for the bleeps and bloops of the EDM scene?! So much of the high end of modern dance music is all square waves (for anyone reading this who doesn't know, square waves are the sharp but simple sounding tones traditionally associated with early gaming).

Pretty sweet, great composition with solid chord progression, plus excellent use of synthesis. Feels like Glitch Mob and Freezepop had an extremely talented baby.

I like his bass synths, again just solid knowledge of sound synthesis on display. Worth studying. Reminds me a lot of Culprate.

Thanks for sharing those two, haven't heard either before. I'm always looking for new music to both study and spin.

God, this is going to be a short list. So many CDs have one or two clunkers.

Iggy and the Stooges- Raw Power
Japandroids- Post Nothing
The Hold Steady- Almost Killed Me
Surfer Blood- Astro Coast
LCD Soundsystem- This Is Happening
Pavement- Slanted and Enchanted
Rolling Stones- Sticky Fingers
Titus Andronicus- The Monitor

After a quick perusal of my whole library, this is about it.

This also makes me think of the Replacements above all else, as for every perfect song and near perfect record they put out, they also always include something like Gary's Got a Boner or fucking Lay It Down Clown.

"EDM IS NOT PROPER MUSIC ARGBRGHSABLARG".

I hear this way too often, sadly.

For some reason this got me to think about chiptune, and then this song.
My mind works in mysterious ways.

Electrocado has awesome sound design. Always great to listen to. I do have to point out that Electrocado is a duo though. ;)

You can find all their music on their bandcamp. It's a "pay whatever you want" deal. You can listen to all the tracks before downloading, and even download all the music for free if you want!

No problem! Always happy to share music.

ELECTROCUTICA's music is a bit harder to find, most of their music are on albums only available in Japan. Though, they do have a bunch of singles on iTunes.
