What are some albums by artists you love that really disappointed you?
Personally I didn't like recovery by eminem because all the songs sounded the same to me.
I also was disappointed by Pacs Life by tupac although I didn't really have high expectations going in it just seemed like a cah in on the 2pac name.

So what albums by artists you liked disappointed you?

Chinese Democracy

It had maybe one or two good songs, but otherwise, I was disapointed. It took them long enough to make it, so I was hoping for more.

Icky Thump by The White Stripes- it was clear that they'd run out of stuff to do but didnt have the sense to stop it at that point, they try doing some new stuff that just fails miserably, coming out as unintelligible nonsense mosto f the time, and those famous chest thumping riffs where almost wholely absent.

Autumn Sky by Blackmore's Night. Dunno what it is about them, the but the songs aren't nearly as good as the ones from other albums.

Yeah no kidding, I only liked two songs from that whole album. Maybe Axel should've done everyone a favor and not release it.

Sum 41's Screaming Bloody Murder. It was supposed to be an album where they went back to a heavier sound, like the few albums before Underclass Hero. I put it on, listened to it once, forgot I owned it, and haven't listened to it since. That was right when it came out.

It wasn't bad, but it was extremely disappointing considering what they'd said in interviews.

Avenged Sevenfold's self-titled one. It was nowhere near their usual level of awesomeness.

(I feel like I'm going to get shit for saying I like A7X, but whatevs...)

Eric Clapton's new album was really...meh. In fact, some went from merely average to borderline terrible. Here's looking at you, crappy 'Autumn Leaves' cover -,-

Ayumi Hamasaki - Rock N Roll Circus.

I usually love every single thing she has put out, but this album was not doing it for me, at all.

Meteora sorta killed Linkin Park for me, it was alright, just no Hybrid Theory.
Also, Mesmerize made me stop listening to System of a Down altogether.

Sum 41 - Screaming bloody murder

I was really looking forward to it and after repeated listenings, all the songs are totally average. Nothing stands out. It all sounds like something I've already heard. Crash is one of the best "breakdown" songs I've ever heard however.

The new Panda Bear was kinda bland for me. I wanted to like it, I tried to like it but in the end I just couldn't. It was so formless and uninspired, there was nothing that stood out that I could latch on to. It was so in-one-ear-out-the-other
:(

But, but, but...

...I like Tomboy.

OT: I also agree with the first reply, about Eminem's newer stuff being not great.

The Resistance.

I love Muse. But I didn't love the album. I know a lot of people HATED it. I didn't really.

It just wasn't at all what I expected. And who the hell am I to say what a band can and cannot create? Their style changed, and that's good! I just didn't like where it went, y'know?

"By a Thread" by Gov't Mule. It wasn't really BAD...just a deviation. Especially coming fresh off of the "Mighty High" album, I was expecting just a little bit more southern fried groove as opposed to...well, whatever it is you would classify "By a Thread" to be.

As a very long time Rush fan, I'm going to have to go with both Snakes & Arrows and Vapor Trails. S&A contained some amazing instrumental work, but the lyrics and musicality just didn't have the same bite the band displayed before they went on hiatus following Peart's personal time away. The lyrics in particular just seem to be lacking that really smart sense of grandeur and it seems like every song is just a differently worded version of a same they already wrote. It's great to have them back, so to speak, but I just don't feel they've been up to the level they used to be at.

Hmmm.. I love Icky Thump, and can't say I was disappointed with it at all. If you feel that way about Icky Thump, how did you feel about Get Behind Me Satan? I felt that was a much further departure from their earlier material than IT was though even as early as Elephant they started heading in a more.. diverse direction on at least a few tracks.
