Great. Now we have to Nuke Titan. Fantastic.
Would take the missile masses of years to actually reach the planet, i'm sure Titan has some incredible defensive structure in place.

I also want to think that my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandson is Rube Shepard.
Who is Rube Shepard?

OT: I'm a little non-plussed by the news. But if I had to guess, they would be micro-organisms with little distinguishing features.
Commander Rube Shepard of the Alliance Navy. Also, Citadel Spectre.

I'm pretty sure that the time to reach Mars at the shortest distance is ~6 months. The years you're referring to are the result from using a gravitational slingshot effect to generate sufficient speed for the probes, as the extra fuel they would otherwise need would make them too large.

Have they ever landed rovers or something of the like on Titan? Perhaps the temperature could be suitable for life due to a "Super-Global warming" because of it's dense atmosphere of what we consider greenhouse gases.
Much too far away. It'll take them 5 years to get to Mars, and Saturn is 6 times the distance away.
no, it usually only takes about 6-9 months to get to mars, and it usually takes about 6-7 years to get to Saturn with today's chemical rockets. And there are plans to send autonomous Dirigible like craft to explore the surface of titan in detail.
I meant factoring in planning time, it would take five years to reach mars.

Here is what I really hope they look like:

But I'm going to have to agree with the OP and CNN that the fish crab creature is more likely at this point. Still I really can't express enough just how AWESOME this news really is to me. Finally we have actual evidence of other world life forms. While it's true that it hasn't been one hundred percent confirmed, I think it's still looking pretty good.
They said methane based right? Think about it for a second

Oh hell yes!!

Ummmm ya, I want a source or I don't think I can believe you. Life so close to us (Well..compared to the whole universe) is a little hard to believe.
Yes, because out of the entire Universe, and billions of planets that exist, it's completely preposterous to think some other solar system might have had the same (or at least similar) conditions that occurred to create the living cancer upon the Earth we now refer to as "human beings" -.-

QUICK! CONVERT THEM TO CHRISTIANITY AND PRETEND GOD MADE THEM!
OH GOD I hope the aliens aren't sentient. I'd rather not be trying to prevent massive alien genocide, thanks.

Well actually, 6 or 7. To support my argument I give you Sir Isaac Newton, the deadliest son of a ***** in space:

But they would be methane based life form. We are carbon based life forms. Mating would sort of be like trying to plug an USB drive into a microwave.

The last bit sounds hot.

There was a snippit of this played on the webcast I watched before, still one hell of a lot of debate surrounding it all.

Actually Im studying at tafe to study biochemistry at university. And it takes alot more than all the parts of a cell to make a living cell. Throwing all the parts of a clock in a box and shaking it about wont assemble all the gears, tighten the screws and wind it up with the right time set/

And theres only so much info a probe can give us. For a full chemical analysis a research team will need to collect samples.
Unfortunately we've been raised on sci-fi shows for so long we get the notion in our heads that evolution is possible and can happen in any environment or that technology can jus scan something and tell us everything we know. The reality is, science is composed of nothing more than theories and hard work. Hard hard work. We listen to the news and hear about a medical breakthrough that seems like it just happens over night yet realistically such experiments takes weeks and months and only after thousands of failures before hand.
