Gore, on the other hand, is unmatched by many games, seriosly, if they did anything proper then it would be gore and violence. To see the Predator leap on the marine and rip out his head together with his spinal column, and to see the eyes of the marine - to see his/her fear was priceless, and it brought tears of joy to my eyes.
My Favorite moment in the game so far has been a multiplayer trophy kill as the Alien that I did yesterday: it featured an animation that I had never seen before.
I grabbed a Marine from behind, and he turned around and was looking all scared and shit, and then my Alien tickled his chin with the tip of its tail, and then cut his head off with a big tail swoop.
I cracked up. It was the most messed up thing I had seen in the game before.

The flamer seems ineffective on Multiplayer
The flamethrower is utterly useless in multiplayer. -.-
Either enemies get scared, and run away where you can't kill them...
Or they realize that you need to keep them in the flame for like 3-4 seconds and they just charge at you and kill you.

Overall, it's not as bad as I initially thought, but it's still the worst entry in the series by far. I'd say this is a rental at best.

If you're not into the awesome multiplayer, that is.

How overpowered? Because I played the steam demo, and they seemed very useless (granted it was team deathmatch and I didn't start with any weapons besides the rifle (that can't burst fire).
How is it different in the actual game? Because the Marine being crap really turned me off the game. I love playing as the marine, where you crap yourself whenever you hear a noise, but I couldn't get one kill as him. I only had the shotgun and rifle though.
First, the Smartgun is back in multiplayer. It spawns like once per round and you need to know where to find it, but it's definitely back, and it definitely still locks onto cloaked predators and aliens on the walls.
I'm usually *most* successful as the Marine in multiplayer, and the trick is the Marine's crazy damage at a distance. Aliens will only kill you if they sneak up on you, and if you're watching your motion tracker properly then they shouldn't sneak up on you.
Pretty much anything you put in the sights of your pulse rifle is going to die with a second or two of sustained fire.
The trick then is drawing your enemy into running straight at you, then firing and back peddling. You also need to constantly shift to face him, so he doesn't get behind you and rip your spine out. Finally, knowing how to block and counter is a must. Aliens which are stupid enough to open with a quick melee attack should universally end up on their ass when you block and counter, from which position you easily have about 3 seconds to put as many bullets as you want in them while they stand up and come back at you. On the other hand, aliens that run towards you with their tail swinging above their head trying to open up with a heavy attack should ALSO wind up on their ass, when you simply smack them on the head and stun them mid wind up.
Cloaked predators are a little more challenging, but then again the average predator employs two strategies: (1), run straight towards you and hope that you don't see him, or (2)sit still in a roost and fire plasma bolts/discs at people on the ground.
Killing predators is as simple as putting a few bullets in likely predator hide outs. If you see green blood, then shoot a few more times and they'll be dead very swiftly. The next part of killing predators is not to run around in wide open areas drawing their fire. A marine in cover is a marine that isn't eating a plasma caster bolt for breakfast.
Like 90% of your survival in MP as a Marine is knowing which parts of the map will be good for fighting, and which parts are going to get you killed. If you're running in the open underneath a bunch of columns or trees, you're going to get killed by something hiding up above you. The Marines are most successful in hallways where enemies are forced to run straight at them to kill them, or in wide open spaces where the only path towards them is to run along the ground and straight at them, and there is no approach from above, below, or along the walls. And check your 6 frequently. Your motion tracker goes off in front and behind, but it doesn't go very far behind you, so if your front is clear you should always spend a couple of seconds checking you six and shooting that fool trying to line up a trophy kill behind you.
