Anime is just what the Japanese call animation. I once knew a Japanese guy who said his favorite anime was Fantasia.

But what I was talking about was "style." There's as many art styles as there are artists and a lot of them are very distinctive.
You're going to hate me for saying it, but frankly those all look much alike to me. The second could just as easily be a colored version of the first while the last picture looks akin to every 'Dragonball' style character I've seen although much more heavily shaded and colored. Nothing wrong with it, but still; all looks more or less alike to me.

But then I can't much tell the difference between one 'american' comic artist from another either. Guess I'm just not much of an artist... More of a literary type if I do say so myself.

I only have one thing to say about JRPG's is the fact that maybe it's time for some change but I don't think they suck. Or I don't know I want an actual world map to explore again instead of going place to place.

There, fixed. You happy now? Lets move on with our lives, shall we.
I wouldn't say that either, Dark Cloud feels a lot different from Mabinogi which feels different from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne which feels a lot different from Digimon World which feels a lot different from Guardian Crusade.
Mabinogi is a Korean MMO.
I stand corrected, just take that one out and use the various other examples instead.

Really? Of all the games you could've picked you picked two games where you can dungeon crawl, use swords, set off traps, fight mimics, find random helpful loot, etc.

Also you didn't say that. I did.

On another note, I've played Dark Cloud and Mabinogi, and they felt the same to me... initially interesting but ultimately boring.

...IN WHAT WORLD IS DISGAEA NOT AN RPG? Everything has stats and levels out the ass in that game, and in most NIS games. SRPGs are still RPGs.
I'm not really sure that its stats and levels that maketh an RPG.

I think this is half the dissonance right here. Half of us aren't even talking about the same thing as the other half.

I edited it and added more after I initially posted. Secondly, the art style of both are quite different, the dungeons themselves are designed differently, though I admit there is a similarity between the two. They both have distinct features not present in the others (town construction = Dark Cloud, jobs = Mabinogi).
I must admit though, I enjoyed Dark Cloud 2 more than I did the original.

That made me laugh. Can one of the people that actually believes that tell me how Final Fantasy XIII (JPRG, for example) looks anything like Pokemon (another JRPG).

I think people have a problem with the game mechanics more than the graphics, so you're going to have to do better than just showing a few images and yelling, "SEE?! SEE????!?!?!"
Pointing someone to the Final Fantasy, Shin Megami Tensei, Tales (or Star Ocean), and Baten Kaitos series, as well as individual games like The World Ends With You makes that argument even less sensical than the graphics, though.

I dunno I took the discs of all the WRPGs I owned and closed my eyes. Just by touching them I was unable to tell the difference between my copies of Fallout, Mass Effect, Jade Empire and Borderlands.

WRPGS feel the same too.

They have people in them! They're both in color! They have words! They both have music! Why don't they just put the same titles on them, geesh!

They look different indeed. JRPG gameplay is still horrible and the look and feel of anime is even more atrocious.

I admit I am getting a tad tired of the "anime" look, we all know what I'm talking about to. Give me something with the visuals of Gregory Horror Show over Inuyasha and Bleach (all three of which have game releases), anyday.

The thing is though, you believe it so it a form of truth. It is truthfully what you believe.

same could be said with FPS games, I'm sick of seeing brown and gunmetal gray in everything.
