I must... agree?

Yahtzee hits it on the point. They all look like effeminate boys that stuck their head in a can of paint and call it a hairdo.

Plus, the gameplay mechanics are nearly identical from my experience.
Which is almost certainly NONEXISTENT.
Indeed, but that is borderline flamebait, no? It's their choice, and the reason why I cannot watch anime or play JRPGs is they all look copy/pasted with a generalized storyarc that has been beaten to death, and over-dramatization of feelings. I don't like turn based combat, this and the aforementioned reasons are my "turn-offs" for the genre.

Ahhh...look at their hair. If it looks like a braid of their hair could be used as a skewer, it's the same old JRPG crap.
Wait, so to play JRPG's you need to be depressed AND emo!? FUCK! I think I need t stop playing them.

OT: Want a JRPG that really does have a NEW combat system?

Go buy it for your DS. It'll be the most worthwhile thing you could buy for it.
I sold my DS before I went through puberty.
Sorry, I guess I don't find kiddie games interesting anymore.
You've joined the Halo elite then?
LOLOL
I don't know if there is a way to search and view all my previous posts, but I have been much less than friendly to anything involving Halo...

I lurve me some Lost Odyssey, but less because of the gameplay, and more because of the story, and the subject of immortality really interests me. I couldn't get into FFVII, but thats only cause I had alot of games to play at the time and I didnt give it enough attention. But frankly i'm more of a WRPG, im counting down the minutes till Mass Effect 2

Any way... I love JRPGs![/quote]
I the same.
OT:
Look, I don't care if people hate on JRPGs so much, Yahtzee did point out all RPGs as:
WRPGs being the Stalwart Hero of the Land
JRPGs being malnourished spiky haired teenagers killing Satan.

RPGs are for the nerds, but I guess that's why I love them. I am a nerd.

I don't follow the point here, are you upset that people don't like a genre you like, or something? And if so... oh well?

Immortality interests you? Go watch Baccano then!
Looked up the plot... sounds interesting, thank you for the recommendation

ok... your telling me that

looks like

i can accept that you don't like JRPGs because you don't like turn based combat, but there are several different styles of anime artwork and every JRPG does not look the same unless they are done by the same artist. and lack of storyline isn't a very good reason either. Pokemon's and fire emblem's storylines have the same amount of similarities as a carrot has seed.

Guy who looks like a chick saves the world.

I'm not gonna get into it any further, JRPG's aren't my gaming forte, all I know is that I dislike them. Excluding Final Fantasy, I kind like those.
Your statement makes no fucking sense. You make a blanket statement that people who think FF is the only JRPG series say, and then say you like FF.

What JRPGs HAVE you played exactly?
Chronotrigger, Chocobo tales, Pokemon Last Remnant and Final Fantasy X and VII

Also the "Guy who looks like a chick saves the world" is pretty damn accurate.

Tidus.

Guy from the Last remnant from which I totally forgot due to me only playing it for an hour.

Everyone in final fantasy.

Ash Ketchum.

And the guy from Chrono trigger.
That's slightly less girly, but still. The Hair! The Haaaiiiir!
Tidus looks like a jock, not a chick. Now Vaan, there's a ladyboy.

I'm a member of the JRPG choir. Japanese game men may be pretty, but at least there's variation in style. Unfortunately, the men of western games all look quite clonish, with their short brown hair and 5 o'clock shadow.

Some Jrpgs are ok, some aren't. Some people like Jrpgs others don't. Don't let it get you down.

That looks really, really, really fucking complicated.
Not really. The top half can even just be left to AI. The bottom half you customize your moveset.
But Josh doesn't Jesus Beam if you pussy out like that.

I thought Valkyria Chronicles did a good job of standing out of the crowd. The entertainment crowd could use more j-military strategy games

Who says they all LOOK the same? That's not the problem. The problem is that they all PLAY the same.
No, they certaintly don't.

There's turn based, real time, strategy, action, random encounter, on field, class options, no classes, ect.

Developers are always throwing new ideas at the gamers, be it the judgement ring (Shadow Hearts), light and shadow abilities (Eternal Sonata), ability with limited reach (Shadow Hearts 2 + 3, Enchanted Arms), gambits (FFXII), limited fighting steam (Magna Carta II), matching buttons combos for every attack (Magna Carta), keeping character levels low and summon levels high (FFVIII), limited levelling (Lost Odyssey), giving commands to a unit rather than a person (Last Remnant)...I can go on, but you get the idea.
