Well, there is a stereotype, much like in "WRPGs" there is a stereotype of a Middle Earth-type style.

I personally quite like the visual style of JRPGs...

Of course all JRPGs don't look the same, and people who say they do are either blind or stupid. Did you really have to make a thread in order to respond to them? Newsflash:

1. BLIND people won't be able to read it.
2. STUPID people will simply remain stupid.

Deep down I know that but for some reason making this thread makes me happy. It's better to have a world of ignored rational people than a world of silent ones

I'm not gonna get into it any further, JRPG's aren't my gaming forte, all I know is that I dislike them. Excluding Final Fantasy, I kind like those.

Your statement makes no fucking sense. You make a blanket statement that people who think FF is the only JRPG series say, and then say you like FF.

What JRPGs HAVE you played exactly?

Chronotrigger, Chocobo tales, Pokemon Last Remnant and Final Fantasy X and VII

Also the "Guy who looks like a chick saves the world" is pretty damn accurate.

Obviously there are visually different games and I see no real point in trying to find differences. You could likewise make a thread where you compare a bunch of JRPGs that look incredibly similar. You could do this with WRPGs as well, since they often times look similar.

I think people have a problem with the game mechanics more than the graphics, so you're going to have to do better than just showing a few images and yelling, "SEE?! SEE????!?!?!"

I think people who say "all jrpgs look the same" are people who haven't played them to begin with.

For instance, people call them "grindfests" when they are actually thinking of MMORPGs (from Korea). In all the JRPGs I've played, there is very little grinding, unless you count going back and getting stuff that was previously unavailable (which is present in many games).

Finally, if you don't like jRPGs then nothing I say will change your opinion anyway, and you're not going to change mine either.

People will argue that all games are "the same as"... I mean, people say all FPSs are the same, RTSs too. WRPGs have some things that remain the same, in the same way JRPGs does. I'm no big fan of the spiky hair and oversized swords, but I ocationally find a JRPG that is down to earth enough for me to play it.

It's largely a matter of taste. I'm truly coming to despise the whole aesthetic of Japanese games, their whole slant, their particular set of archetypes and story modes.

Not saying that these aren't legitimate, only that they make me throw up in my mouth a little.
