If you haven't been following this contest over at gamespot, you might like to know that it is reaching its finale. The current finalists are:
Gordon Freeman
Link
Samus Aran (Although it looks grim for her)
Mario
For those of you who have been following it, what do you think the outcome is going to be? I'm currently out looking for people to vote Gordon, but I doubt even if he gets through he'll manage to wade through the deep pool full of nintendo fanboys and grab the metaphorical golden crowbar that is his success.
In my opinion, not taking into account the huge nintendo fanbase (Whose average age I would estimate to be about 7-8, and thus are too young to witness the awesomeness that was Half-Life), there should be no contest. Gordon has been around since the late 90's, and since then has grabbed the hearts of all the people who played his (Fortunately/Unfortunately) few games.
That and he doesn't:
A) Break into people's houses and break their furniture repeatedly
B) Wear women's clothing
C) Have the same storyline repeated over and over again, released every year with abnormally high prices.
In all seriousness, if it wasn'nt for all the little babies whining that Link is their bestest bestest (butt?) buddy, it would be no trouble for Gordon, no trouble at all.
Anyway, you can follow the proceedings at http://uk.gamespot.com/greatest-video-game-hero/vote/index.html?battle_id=62 (No advertising (for (monetary)profit) intended)
