This is actually perfect. I've been wanting to play this game for awhile, and even though the PC isn't that great, I'd still rather take a risk with the 2 dollars than have to pay 20 or whatever to get it on a console. Consider me sold, OP.
£1.50 = good idea
CoH = 80% off = OH CHRIST WHY DO YOU MAKE MY WALLET CRY :'(

It's an OK game, wouldn't go as far as calling it great, there's a lot of problems with it. The thing is that of all the problems it has, all of them brings it down, but none really ruin the experience, so somehow it still holds together. It's definitely worth $2.

I can cook up two cheeseburgers and a few handfuls of french fries and the entire meal costs me less than two dollars, with careful shopping. You seem to be underestimating two dollars.

On the other hand, I bought a bunch of Fallout NV DLC for $7.50 or something a piece on sale at one point, and haven't bothered to even try to play it yet.

I guess i'll give it a shot. Worst case is you owe me two cheeseburgers and three handfuls of french fries.
Where the hell are you buying your meat?!

I got it. It was a game that interested me when it came out, but not enough to pay full price for. So thanks for the heads up on the sale :D

I'll buy it when I get off from work. Not because you've sold me to it, but rather to form my own opinion of it. I'm rather cautious of Obsidian's games, but 2 dollars is practically nothing.

Seriously. Just stop what you are doing, and go buy Alpha Protocol. It's a great game. Sure, it might be a little rough around the edges, but once you can get past that, you will be rewarded. It has a lush and incredibly dialogue system: each conversation is interesting, deep, and complex. If you want to see how conversations are done in games, then go play it. It's also one of the very few games that actually DELIVERS on the promise that "every action has a consequence," since the game will change radically depending on how you treat characters and behave in missions (it can tell if you are a stealthy or guns blazing person :O). Just remember that it's NOT a shooter with RPG elements, but an actual RPG. You do have to increase your skill in weapons if you want to use them. You can't just magically equip a pistol and headshot everyone.

I mean, what's the worst that can happen? You don't like it? It's only 2 dollars! What ELSE can you buy with 2 dollars!? Maybe a coke?
I played it through once, it tries hard to be a RPG in the deus ex style but it fails in many disappointing ways. Not least because of the overt console feel and the emphasis on action, plus the choices are too binary, in deux ex you can usually complete your objective in one of 4-5 ways, and that's what really makes the game, where as in AP its usually fight/other or professional/reckless.
Plus I really didn't like they way they organised the quest hubs, sure it lead to some cross over where you could complete the 3 major hubs in any order without breaking the story... but at the same time that pretty much neutered the story itself, as it was forced to deliver itself in confusing and inconclusive pieces. I think it could of benefited substantially from making the progression though the hubs linear... at least then you can build the story more coherently, as in deus ex.

Impressive sale they have going. When do I get time to play all those Total War games...

I already own AP, but yes seriously if you are into 3D RPG'ish games with dialogue like the ME series or DE:HR go buy it. It has flaws for sure, but also some real innovation. It's a good game no matter the price and selling it for $2 is almost sad.

I'm not getting it... mostly because I really don't want to waste the money on a game that I might end up playing once, maybe twice before getting sick of it and just get rid of it and never play it again. Wasting two dollars might not seem like much, but it is still something I much rather save up for something much more better. x3 Like a bottled soda... or aspirin for the mind raping migraine from hell that I'm having at the moment. Either way, I can see this as a great thing for people who like the game, but I prefer to use my two dollars on a more worthwhile investment of my time...

The reason this game is so poorly thought of is that the first couple of reviews for it were looking at it as a shooter. And they are correct, it's a crap shooter. Also, it's Obsidian, so it's a little buggy, but nothing game-breaking.

It is an excellent story/dialogue/choice driven RPG! Buy it, buy it now!

I'm going to support the "buy it now" crowd. I bought it back during the Summer Sale, it was more expensive than this, but I think it's a great game and worth the price. I think it's a shame that so many people focus on the bad things(I only encountered a few bugs, nothing major, really), when the game has so many wonderful ideas. The dialogue system as well as actual consequences for your actions were two of the major highlights for me.

I just completed another playthrough yesterday with different decisions, which was quite fun, even though I couldn't really bring myself to choose another weapon than the pistol again, since it's so damn OP, when you put a few skill points in it. I'll probably try on an easier difficulty(I've only tried hard so far) and go rampage with some of the bigger guns. Should be... interesting. Or rather, try a run with only gadgets or something like that. There are a few different ways to go through the game, despite what people say.

I would, but I don't think you can add only $2 to your Steam Wallet, and I only have $2 on this Visa Gift Card (I think, it won't let me check...).

EDIT: Holy crap it worked! Now this card is worthless. Kinda doubt the game will work on my computer, but it's just $2. Might work on the desktop...

Does Alpha Protocol have a "low quality" mode?
Yea its called Alpha Protocol.
lol jk

OT- tried it, didn't love it, didn't hate, so it's kinda just there you know

Well $2 (euros for me) ain't much, but I'm still unsure whether to buy it. Fuck, if it turns out to be bad I can always get my brother to punch me in the balls for free :p

I'd quite rather spend $2 and get Breath of Death + Cthulhu Saves the World

Hmm... I was tempted by this earlier. I mean, what else am I going to spend the $2 on?
