My friend once told me that Adolf Hitler's mother was considering an abortion when he was in the womb.
So yeah, what if she had gone through with it?
Germany would never have invaded Poland. WWII and The Holocaust would have never happened.

It would be that England never ruled Ireland. Point would be an old Irish would die by being hit by a stray toilet seat travelling through time. The modern world would be different by people in Ireland having Irish as national language and no one complains including me from time to time about learning it in school.
Ninja'd.

If the Roman Empire never collapsed, no that would be interesting. Considering it was possibly one of, if not the, most powerful military force to date.

I say it would end up with something along the lines of the vast majority of the world being united under one nation. I can imagine that after the influx of new slaves dwindles that someone would come up with the idea of a 'slave farm' to generate slaves for the Empire.
The biggest reason that Rome fell in the first place was that it became too large and unwieldy for man to rule over, so they split the empire in two, which the neighboring tribes exploited, yadda yadda yadda... so a "One World Nation" is not feasible.

If Rome hadn't collapsed, I'd say we would be looking at a "Neilus Armstrongius" on the moon by the year 1000!
Neilus Armstrongius

This will be the name of my next created character in a RPG game.

What would the world be like if when the US declared War on Japan, Germany didn't aid it's Japanese Ally? Think about it: Sure, the Soviets still could have been fighting in the East and the British fighting in the South, but the German/Italian Forces wouldn't have to fight back as bad as they needed to. Japan would have fallen (Albeit more bloody) and the US wouldn't directly fight the Germans. This could have very well caused the fall of Britain and the USSR could have ended fighting with Germany to grab the spoils of the Fallen Japanese. Of course, when the Atomic Bomb would be developed, Germany would be the one to get it, and not Japan.

We'd all have sand in our vaginas.

I would have liked it if Hitler was made aware of an alien invasion (under the disguise of the jew) and he and his men (the gustapo) devoted themselves to clensing the aliens off the earth for the good of humanity. LOL

Nah, but seriously, I wonder what it would have been like if that meteor that fucked up all the dinosaurs never hit earth....like what would the evolution of dinosaurs be like to cope with the new formation of the continents? Would they have the intellectual capacity to create porn?

Mine would be a world where Glenn Beck was never born, George W. Bush was never elected president, and George Carlin is still alive. It would be magical to say the least.

Personally, I'd love to know how things would've played out had everyone not have got involved in the First World War, and it had stayed between Serbia and Austria. Or even if Franz Ferdinand's assassination failed completely, rather than partially as it actually did.
That actually sounds like it would be pretty interesting too. Maybe also what would have happened if the U.S. joined allied with Germany during the war instead of the Allies?
The US would of failed if they did that, It would of been impossible for the US to attack the EU without Britain giving them their foothold into the EU. So it would of just ended with the USSR and the UK kicking the arse of Germany.

After Night of the Living Dead came out, a mad scientist makes it actually happen, so now everyday life is focused on defending your home, and all militaries are working together to create the best weapons against the undead. and Glee wasnt made because we were to busy fighting zombies. horray!

My idea would be that Christianity never took a foot hold in the Roman Empire. The result would that there would never have been Christianity to take over Rome, so Rome may never have collapsed. This would possibly mean that the "Dark Ages" as we know them would never have occured, and that the technologies and discoveries of Rome would not have been lost. Also, the Roman Empire would have "fallen" eventually, but it would not have completley collapsed like it did. So much of Europe would be different probably. And America may never have been created, so I would probably be in Slovakia (or its Roman based variation) right about now.

snip
Just a note, Christianity didn't destroy Rome, overexpansion did. Also, Christianity didn't cause the Dark Ages, that was because of the fall of Rome. Actually, Christian monestaries are credited with keeping literacy alive in Europe through their schools and libraries.

So in short, without Chrisitanity taking hold, Rome would still fall, the Dark Ages would still happen (As would the Crusades, not for the same purpose, but they'd have found another way to justify it. It was a political move to get rid of the unemployed knights hanging around Europe after the end of feudalism), and we'd all be either illiterate, or speaking an Eastern language, and way behind, scientifically from having to wait for written language to get here from Asia.
Granted, a lot fewer 'witches' probably would have been burned.

(To people in general)
We have screwed up in the past, but please, stop blaming us for all of society's problems...
Thank you

EDIT: Oh, and we'd be missing a whole lot of Renaissance art, literature and architecture that was inspired by or funded by the Catholic church. (I'm not Catholic, but those guys are behind a decent chunk of our creative history.)

How about Henry VIII is allowed his divorce by the Catholic Church in 1531, so he never splits off and creates the Church of England?

England stays Catholic, which avoids nastiness like Bloody Mary and the Armada, but it also stays poorer, since all the monasteries aren't dissolved (which poured a ton of money into the English economy).

What if the Seven Years War never occurred? When you look at it, it was after that war where the British began the series of taxes on the American colonies. If we weren't taxed like that, we'd all probably be subjects of the British Empire because we wouldn't have had anything to be revolting about. More than likely, we may have become a country in a similar manner like Canada rather than gain our independence through force.

Just a thought, y'know?
In a sense, you could say the same if salutary neglect had never been practiced. If the British had shown more tact.

I'm more interested in a history where, for some reason, the native americans had developed immunities to the diseases of the Old World.

i would have to say i would prefer a axis of time alternate history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_of_Time where people from the future are sent back to the past and accelerate technology and social norms etc. so by time its the present again its like its the future.

the axis of time series a multinational naval force from like 2021 is send back to just before the battle of midway and acciedentally destroy the fleet. basically its a world war 2 story fileld with modern and futuristic weapons and idea.
i heard his most recent book was lame. something about on the eve of the invasion of iraq everyone in the US just disappear in a blue light or something

Yes Axis of Time is awesome. John Birmingham is a very good up and coming writer in this field.

I for one can't wait for the next book.

The July plot of 1944 ends Nazi aggression with Hitler dead and high ranking Nazi Party officials arrested and shot for their crimes. The armistice offered to the Western allies is accepted and the terms are simple. Germany will release all Western POW's, will remove all military forces in the West, will defer to any decisions made by SHAEF (Eisenhower) and will cease their advance once restoring Poland under European control. With Poland reinstated as a sovereign state, allied pressure on Russia (after the faster defeat of Japan due to more allied resources/men in the far east) to settle the conflict forces Stalin to either pursue war with his former allies or negotiate.

Stalin, with his armies effectively checked along the western front by German forces (discretely supplied by the Western Allies) and with a massive number of allied forces in China, occupied Japan, and Korea posed to advance on the vital Russian war industry in the East, stands down. American use of the atomic bombs in Japan is not necessary after the much more intense firebombing campaign of this timeline.

Due to the faster breakdown of co-operation/communication between the Soviet Union and the allies, security in the West is improved much faster and many key communist spy rings are circled up and eliminated. Russia does not gain nuclear arms and, while fielding a sizable army, is checked by a reinstated Poland and a strong series of alliances in Europe.

Because of the Western allies finally making good on their promise to restore Poland as a sovereign state, there is no bitterness towards the Western powers, destroying any chances of major communist allies in continental Europe for the Soviets. Desperate to put his army to use, Stalin starts a war in Afghanistan. This doesn't go well for him and the Soviet Union descends into a series of civil wars.

Meanwhile, in a rebuilding Europe, the new United Nations forces a reluctant Germany to give a large portion of the Rhineland to the Jews to live in. While this leaves many local Germans bitter (who have to relocate), it eventually is accepted and the new state thrives.

For the most part, the world slowly returns to normal. In China however the civil war (with communists being supplied from a still Communist state in Russia) escalates.

...

Further into the alternate timeline I cannot foresee. I don't think Vietnam would happen and I also don't know if Capitalism/Terrorism will arise either.

...

Hmm...
