Honestly, I don't think you need to stay so clean. Getting pissed at the odd party is hardly going to damage your future.

I have a conscience. That is, out of my closest friends, many of them are girls. Who get majorly pissed. And occasionally emotional whilst pissed. And it happens at every party. And I always watch my girlfriend at parties.

So I always get stuck looking after drunk girls, some of whom are a real handful. And I have a conscience that will not let me forget them, no matter what.

Well, if you always want that to be you then fair enough. You don't go "full retard" when pissed though; you should still know what you're doing unless you drink so much that you're paraletic.

I'm actually pretty much the same and I'm in my twenties now. I drink every one and a while, but never more than one or two drinks and I've never been drunk in my life. I have smoked a cigar at one point but thats about it. I generally don't like being around drunks as they just piss me off more than anything, so I tend to be a bit of a downer at drunken parties.

I have never once, nor will I ever, smoke, do drugs, or drink. I find no appeal in any of these. At all.

I also have not gone for my learner's permit. I haven't even read more than the first sentence of the booklet. I turn seventeen in November.

However, this doesn't make me an 'oddity.' All of my friends are the same, save for one or two exceptions of tobacco smokers and former drug users. I generally don't associate myself with those who use drugs, and I try my absolute best to avoid being around it at all. It upsets my mental and physical health when in proximity.

Im the same. I dont see the appeal of mind altering food and drink. Alchol taste bad to me and even second hand smoke tells me enought not to smoke. My friends are clean to and none of us see any reason to change that.

I rarely drink even alcohol, and basically never get drunk. But I must say, weed is one drug I might be willing to try, though I'm not going to try to acquire some where it's illegal and get myself in trouble with that. But if I happened to find myself in a place where it's legal, who knows.

Wow, aside from the "no learner's permit" thing (I just finished Drivers Ed yesterday, but haven't gone to get my license- here in Texas I'd have to get it renewed on my next birthday until I"m 18. I turn 18 November 4th, so not worth it to have to renew it that fast), that sounds exactly like me. Except that I never drink, save a glass or two of champagne on New Years (mandatory), and the occasional few sips of wine when my parents for whatever reason want me to. And I intend to never drink much more than that.

I don't think, seeing the people that have responded, you or I are as strange as we may think. The most likely difference is driving, then having a job of some sort. But I think by and large the people who don't drink/smoke/whatever probably about equal if not outnumber those who do.

Ah well, not like I really care for the stoners/drunkards anyways.

I do drink a lot to make up for it though.

well....wow...yes i think you are a bit odd, and so are apparently alot of other escapists, i think someone earlier said "it must be a nerd thing", well yeah i guess it must be. I'm 17 and living in an upper/middle class area in England, where pretty much most of the people i know drink at parties, not unusually to excess, a few people smoke, though i don't as i personally see it as horrible not to mention pointless compared to the risks, and while nobody takes hard drugs, many people i know, either male or female have tried, and in many cases (mainly the guys) regularly smoke weed - and im talking at least 3+ times a week and not just at parties only. Although considering the amount of Aussies in this post agreeing with you, perhaps its an aussie thing ---------

But yeah, my more "nerdy" friends, both gamers and people who actually want to be very sucessful in life, choose not to do drugs or smoke, and drink very little.
----Thats not to say people with equal intelligence aren't doing the above things, I know they are, we're talking Cambridge/Oxford potentials here (I'm not even joking), drinking in excess.

Overall i'd say that maybe only 2-8% of our year has never tried alchohol, smoking, or drugs, while around 10-30% do not do any of those things regularly.

I'm 17 years old. I don't do drugs, and never have done drugs of any sort. I plan to keep myself clean of illicit substances for my entire life. Even weed. I have never smoked, and the only smoke I have inhaled would be second hand smoke. I plan to never smoke. I only started drinking earlier this year, and even then only small amounts. If I go to a party with alcohol, as I often do, I'll have generally one drink and leave it at that, while everyone around me gets more and more smashed.
I don't have a part time job of any sort, and have never had one. I also cannot drive, and have not even gone for my Learner's, even though one can do that here in Australia at age 16. I'm over 17 and a half.

I'm just curious, and probably wrong, but I'm a rarity amongst my friends. Almost all have part time jobs. Almost all drink much more than me. I have quite a few friends that smoke, and a small number that get stoned. Even one who walked into school one morning just after snorting high quality cocaine.

Even my girlfriend, who is very similar to me, drinks more than me, has smoked before, and has even tried weed on two occasions.

If anything you are SMARTER than those other people. Well done.

Not drinking, maybe less so. I think people need to be able to handle alcohol, even if just in moderation.

Dude, i was the same, 2 years ago, except now i'm 19, don't have my L's and am quite into drinking and smoking (tobacco and illicit) Things change. You're not rare or odd. probably just have a lot of will powr and self control.
