One of my freinds is apart of assembles of god but she sits in a group of people who are athiest. She doesn't mind and i don't mind that she is aog. If they judge you because of your beliefes they aren't your freinds.

Let me make this clear. This is not a pity thread nor a "nice guy girl problems" thread. I am just wondering since I live in one of the most religious states, when I finally get interested in trying to find someone to develop a relationship with, will I be able to knowing I am agnostic/atheist?
Let me make this clear: The right girl will like you for you.

Failing that you can always throw in that you don't care what the kid's religion is so she can run the whole show on that.

I don't much about Texas, but I do know that the major cities are more liberal than the rest of it, so if possible that may be where you'd want to focus your efforts, I'm sure you'd be able to find atheists, agnostics and wishy-washy religious people around if you can look in the right places. Perhaps there is a facebook community of that nature for example. Universities also attract those sorts of individuals.

I just want to thank everyone for the awesome advice and to also thank yall for taking the time to answer my question.
Cliff notes of everyone advice I have read and realized:
1: Real friends will like you for you and not your religious beliefs.
2: While Texas is religious heavy, it is not completely full of religious nut-jobs.
3: Religion is not as heavy a factor in friendship and relationships as I thought it was.

I want to also make my beliefs very clear. I believe there could be deities but with all the horrible things to happen in this world and all the hypocrisies from the bible, Koran, and other religious books, how could they not interfere when they promise peace in their religion? Therefor I want nothing to do with them even if they do exist. It is entirely possible that no deities exist but with the infinite cosmos of the universes, how can something so vast, so complicated and magnificent just happen in a bang? How can something come from nothing? If I had to define it in layman's terms, I would consider myself a weak agnostic [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weak_agnosticism].

Again, thank ya for your inputs. It has given me some hope on this dark subject.

Hello fellow escapers!

I have had some difficulty with my religion all my life and am just now realizing I am an agnostic.
How is this relevant you say? Well, I am wondering if I am going to be able to find any girl to get into a relationship or find some new friends that are the same or atheist. See, I live in Texas and since Texas is being Texas, religion is like sports.

Yes, you are most certainly screwed. Clearly, no one will ever love an atheist. Just give up and embrace him:

PS - This thread really makes me want a "buddy mohammad" picture to show up somewhere.

No. Religion does play a large role in Texas, but there are always others.

You are never alone. Unless you're a hipster, in which case you'll make yourself alone no matter what.

I'm an atheist and probably atleast half of my friends are christians. With us, it's really a non-issue, as long as no one is trying to shove their beliefs in each other's throats. If someone can't handle the fact that you're agnostic, they're close-minded people who are not worth hanging out with. In my opinion.
