Am I the only one looking forward to New Vegas?

Considering the demographic here, the top five games I keep hearing from here with a lot of fandom is:

1.Mass Effect 2
2.Portal
3.Fallout 3
4.Half-Life 2
5.Bioshock

Trust me, everyone here is looking forward to that game, unfortunately I'm afraid it'll just be FO3 with slightly better story and a fuck load of bugs (in FO3 it wasn't enough to be game breaking) officially enough to break the game and give it Alpha Protocol status recognition....=/

Yes I am definitely looking forward to FO3 New Vegas.

To address one of the points some people had against FO3. BoS had every right to be in DC based on the fact that they are a paramilitary organization descended from the US military which seeks out prewar tech. What better place to find tech than DC? You can dig military tech and designs out of the Pentagon, go to the Patent Office and dig out schematics and designs for everything ever patented in the US, and find an immeasurable wealth of information on any subject in the Library of Congress. And it is at least 150 years after the events of the original games, more than enough time to spread operations out from the West Coast to the East Coast.
Right, but what doesn't make any sense is the reason why they would send troops to across the country just so they MIGHT (no guarantees)find some decent tech, when they're struggling to even maintain the faction alone. Yeah, you're right that it makes sense for them to look for tech, but shooting yourself in the foot is not something they would seem to do, and realistically speaking, that what they would have done. So, in short, yes, they were just shoe-horned in.

I pretty much agree with everything the OP said and I don't get why so many people say that Fallout 3 was inferior to the originals. Although I have never played the originals and am completely talking out my ass, I would rather play Fallout 3 for another hundred hours instead of go through Fallout 1 for the first time because I feel like it's dated and just wouldn't stand up.

The reason it didn't was because your Small Guns Skill wasn't high enough, at 100 points, all rifles are dead aim, even without the scope.

There's a time gap for me, but I got into Fallout 1-2 through Fallout 3. My interest in the third one led me to purchase and love the first 2. Anyway, I agree with you, OP. A game's predecessor's shouldn't judge its current merits. I had a lot of fun with Fallout 3 and I can't wait for Vegas.

I loved Fallout 3 and want New Vegas when it comes out very much. As far as why to be optimistic beyond it being like a game I already loved, well, Obsidian was started by several people from Black Isle who created Fallout. It sounds like the best of both parts of the series to me.

I agree. There's just something weird about an assault rifle that shoots bullets 45 degrees to the left of what you were aiming at.

I won't get it on launch day because of Obsidian's issues before. However, I loved FO3 and hope New Vegas is better (or at least as good).

Those who hated FO3 will always hate the new FO's because isometric/top-down (or whatever the original FOs had) is dead in the game industry for the most part. It's the nostalgia thing again. Maybe FO3 was easier (FO3 was, admittedly, pretty easy) but don't attack it for that. Just because Bethsoft wanted to increase sales by widening the audience scope to people who might not necessarily be able to take down a Deathclaw with 5 pistol rounds and no health kits doesn't mean they are destroying the legacy.

To those who think FO3 was bad because it lacked the "style" of the first two, remember: it was made by different people. Inevitably, it is going to be different. Appreciate FO3 for what it is on its own, not what it is as a sequel.

Already answered this once. Remember, its an RPG first and foremost, not an FPS, thats their way of insuring people don't jip the gun skill because the guns are accurate anyhow, you need a reason to max out your weapons skill type.

I preordered the Collector's Edition a few weeks ago from GameStop and am preparing for it by replaying FO3 again. So yeah, I'm looking forward to it a little.

Seriously, I loved FO3, with my only real problem being that it was hella glitchy after you beat the game, which I hope that Obsidian or Bethesda somehow fixes. It has to be my favorite current generation game.

And I bought the original 3 Fallouts off of Steam a little while back and have been playing through the first one. I'm enjoying it quite alot but I much prefer FO3, and all of my friends say they would never even try the originals after viewing screenshots, so I hope Fallout keeps on the style that it's using now.

Preordered it for my PC a little bit ago. I enjoyed the third and this looks to be just as good. Plus I get to use a hockey stick as a melee weapon, that's just awesome for me.

I am not looking forward to this because it looks similar to Fallout 3 which did not look similar to Fallouts 1 and 2.

I am keeping my eye on this but with SC II and Elemental coming out really soon and not finishing my previous games I might hold out till after the new year.

I played Fallout 3 and thought it was the best game I ever played, even if a little unbalanced.

New Vegas seems to be like Fallout, but more of it. if it's better than Fallout 3....

I had a chance to get some hands-on time with New Vegas at E3, and I can honestly say that (in my opinion) it looks super awesome.

Considering that Bethesda is breathing down Obsidian's neck as often as inhumanly possible... I'm inclined to give fault with Bethesda over any and all flaws I find. My argument regarding this is that they were there, they should have seen it and they should have fixed it. To release it unfinished like LucasArts did with Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is just... well... retarded and Bethesda is not retarded, just a little off. So I doubt that will ever be a concern, it's just what they call finished when it comes to polishing that I take concern with.

Needless to say - if you've read my other posts - I have faith in Obsidian to deliver me a game I'll love. Even if riddled with bugs, besides I'm sure to find mods that will fix them. That's the beauty of Bethesda games, you can do pretty much anything with it.

Well it looks like what Fallout 3 would have been if made by compotent people, so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm a little bit torn about it to be honest. Fallout 3 is good but nowhere near the cure for cancer As long as it fixes some of the vital flaws Fallout 3 has.

Glitches: God. Maybe its just me but the thing glitches every hour. 15 minutes into the game and the game glitched on the G.O.A.T exam. Apparently that is a common problem. Instead of patches to fix it we got more glitchy dlc! yaaay!

Less rehashed environments: Sorry but while the first few hours are great it just gets tedious going through exactly the same looking metros and buildings over and over again.

American: I don't want my char to be American. Nuff said. Also make it so non-Americans can do bits of missions (the Archive quiz thing annoyed me so much. And then the reward was worthless anyways.)

There's more than I can think of right now but these were the main ones. If they fix at least the glitches I'd be happy. The other two I can live with.

I'll still probably pick this one up when it's cheap or pre-owned. Not worth the full price yet.
