Am I the only one looking forward to New Vegas?

blah blah blah fallout 3 has been argued to death enough
i'm sick of it frankly it was similar to fallout 3
the people who are going to play it already preordered it(acknowledged it was more fallout 3)
and the people who said it was more of the same won't give a shit when its released
unless they actually enjoy being angry

I'm a little bit torn about it to be honest. Fallout 3 is good but nowhere near the cure for cancer As long as it fixes some of the vital flaws Fallout 3 has.

Glitches: God. Maybe its just me but the thing glitches every hour. 15 minutes into the game and the game glitched on the G.O.A.T exam. Apparently that is a common problem. Instead of patches to fix it we got more glitchy dlc! yaaay!

Less rehashed environments: Sorry but while the first few hours are great it just gets tedious going through exactly the same looking metros and buildings over and over again.

American: I don't want my char to be American. Nuff said. Also make it so non-Americans can do bits of missions (the Archive quiz thing annoyed me so much. And then the reward was worthless anyways.)

There's more than I can think of right now but these were the main ones. If they fix at least the glitches I'd be happy. The other two I can live with.

I'll still probably pick this one up when it's cheap or pre-owned. Not worth the full price yet.
if your playing a game modeled after stereotypical america, then it is expected of you to know at least SOMETHING about america. after all, if you were sick of america (like all non americans say they are, especially the french) then you simply wouldn't play fallout. thats like a homophobe watching gay porn and a pride parade at the same time.
I play it because it's a post apocalypse game. I know SOMETHING about America. I've been there twice. But I don't know the history. Nor do I have any intention of knowing the history.

That's like saying everyone outside of Japan can't play Japanese Games. Or somebody who doesn't know much/anything about Batman can't enjoy Arkham Asylum.

I've been a fan of the series since the original's demo first came out, and in my humble opinion, 3 was the best of the lot. By far the most immersive to my mind. And New Vegas is basically looking to be 3 with more, better, bigger, shinier, and with gambling. And I love gambling. Well, real gambling as oppossed to the stupid gambling skill from 2.

And damned if nostalgia hasn't got me by the good bits, because I'm pre-ordering through GameStop. Getting to stare at a 13 on my character's back is worth it to me.

I wasn't aware you had a beta version of the game and figured out it was the same.
if it is different then i will eat my own face
seriously though other than double the new weapons (e.g. grenade launcher machine gun,)
customizable weapons what did you see different? i mean totally different from fallout 3
unattainable from some custom made mods? that aren't already different. nothing new really
doesn't mean its going to be bad

Does the re-worked skill system count?
Or perhaps the Reputation system that replaces Karma?
How about an entirely new area to play around in, with completely new factions?
How about the Companion Commands?

New Vegas seems hellbent on improving on Fallout 3. As with many others in this thread, I am trying to keep my psych down because of Obsidians trackrecord. They just don't make stable games, which means that what could have been revolutionary (KotOR2, Alpha Protocol) becames mediocre. Let's hope New Vegas is their turn around point.

I enjoyed Fallout 3, and this one has an M4-esque weapon in it.

Frankly, I'm sold.
Same here. Plus, Vegas. One day, I hope to make a separate save and kill the city.
That would be fun to try out, once you hit level cap. I know I'll give it a go.

i am hopeful about new vegas but reservedly so, i mean i think its great that some of the old fallout team reside there and are having a and in working on new vegas the new stuff in the game seems great.

but obsidian has a very mixed track record making games a few great alot bad. if they can nail anything i pray it is new vegas because having the old fallout 1 and 2 guys working on it it has to be in some ways much better than fo3. or lest i hope it is and captures some of that old fallout charm that fo3 was lacking. and heck just let me blow up kids :p.

I'd also record it and put it on YT.
But it has to be sped up with unrelated music.

I heard they switched to a notoriously shoddy developer and thought that was what the criticism was about.

I did notice the pre-order adverts on steam...for November. That pretty much confirms fears that the devs have screwed it up, get some sales before the critics lambast it!
if the devs screwed up, that means bethesda did, bethesda is telling obsidian to make it and they heavily supervise it. why has NO ONE remembered that?
Have they said "don't worry, we know they're shitty developers but we're keeping an eye on them"?...'cause it's certainly not implied. Bethesda have already released some shitty DLC for Oblivion(Nights of the nine...what the hell!?). They can be very good but they're not entirely above burning you.

Loved Fallout 3, noticed alot of people saying Fallout 3 was not as good as the first 2 but, was a good game by itself (kinda sucks when you set very high expectations I guess). Well, judging by how the game looks so far, I am looking forward to it.

PC version ftw, mods were at least 15% of the fallout 3 experience for me.
