Am I the only one not exited about MW2?

The game is fucking amazing guys.

I know it's not the most popular at the moment because of activision's asshattery, but seriously. It is fantastic.

Only got through 3 levels so far and it's already outdone COD4 tenfold in the action and adrenalin.

Of course, I've been misreading this for a long while now, so honestly I've been avoiding it due to the misinterpreted message.

I'm..not really into army games, or normal shooter games, so games like MW2 isn't really up my alley, and unfortunately I'm also the type to get really, really annoyed when not only do I see commercials every five seconds on TV, but when my roomies, my associates, even people at school talk about it..
...and yes, MW2 is one of those games.

no, your not, in fact I didn't like Call of Duty 4 much either, as soon as I heard that it was a modern day shooter I lost all interest. My explanation for this is that I found Call of Duty to be the last consistently good World War 2 shooter, so when it was changed to modern day, well frankly I was pissed off.

Of course not, the number of people who couldn't give two shits about this game far exceed those that do.

prices for games in Australia take years to drop (seriously, if you can find a new copy of CoD4 from a retailer for under AU$75, you've got a bargain).
I bought it for $60AU from a place in the melbourne CBD a week after it was released. I still feel I payed too much (think the place was called 'minatour head' or something like that, they have cheap games). Also, I'd recommend checking playasia out, they import games so the prices work out being far more reasonable than most retail places.

Well I'm not really looking forward to it so I would agree with you but... you made a spelling error which means that by the laws of the forums I have to hold your opinions in comtempt.

Of course you're not the only one unexcited about it. I've been unexcited since it was announced. It's getting WAY overhyped. From what I've seen its more of the same, except shiny.

Stop bitching about the price, PC games are usualy a higher quality, but sell less. It only makes sense if you don't want the PC to die.

The thing has a 99 on metacritic as of now. I hope to get it for cheap from Sainsbury's otherwise I'll just have to wait.

I'll admit, the hype has finally crushed my resistance.

I have never been interested in any of the Call of Duty or Medal of Honor games or any of those, what I've dubbed, 'war sims'. The only reason I've spoken out about MW2 is because I see it as a symbol, it's a symbol that the developers/publishers seem to think us gamers can be easily manipulated. They can totally screw us up the ass and we'll still buy their shit, or enough of us will for them to make huge ass profits. It comes down to either standing up and refusing to be treated like sheep or rolling over and taking it. From what I've seen however, it seems the majority of gamers are content to be sheep. Of course to take a stand would require sacrifice, but would it be worth it to regain control of your favorite past time.
They have yet to be proven wrong. And we have yet to prove it to them. All this whahhh whahhhh they ruined COD will all be forgotten tomorrow (or even earlier since some places aren't adhering to the street date) and everyone will be all hurray for MW2 while it sells millions upon millions of copies. And hey if it doesn't do well on the PC then either they won't bother with the PC for any of thier games or they will invest the resources to fix this (or change it for the next time). I don't think they will consider the latter as a viable option though.

I am curious to see how many of the "PC Elitists" who have been raging and frothing at the mouth over this will still not buy a copy come tomorrow.
That is precisely my point. They WON'T be proven wrong. Gamespot reported that MW2 has the most pre-orders of any game. I foresee the deterioration of game quality to follow and publisher treatment of gamers to get much much worse in the near future. It will happen, mark my words. We had the change to prevent it, but we choose to ignore it and we will suffer for it.
Ok first off I made that post then reread yours and realized we were making the same point. I thought you were saying something else during the first read.

That out of the way I agree with you but I don't. I agree with the sentiment of your post. That they should listen to us or it could eventually lower the quality of the entire industry. Although acting like a spoiled brat in the middle of Wal Mart throwing a temper tantrum is not the way to do it. And before anyone goes on about how you aren't think about this for 1 second. How many articles, editorials and threads on this site alone have eaten up bandwidth complaining about this? Where does IW's right to make a game they way they want come into play? It isn't like they baited and switched. They didn't say they would have dedicated servers and then didn't put them in. It isn't like any reasonably informed customer isn't aware they won't have dedicated servers. No what we got was them being upfront with us (well except for the reason) and then we cry and threaten and them shrugging thier shoulders at us. And dammit they should do that. Not because they are right or wrong. To put it simply is because every one of the whiny bitching gamers don't know jack. This huge controversy has erupted not because IW.net is a broken system. Not because the MP is so laggy it is unplayable. You wanna know how I know that? Because this erupted weeks before the game launched. Yes all this bitching over something that no one bitching about it has a chance to even try. If we want to keep the integrity of gaming then we need to smarten up and grow up. If a game is bad then it is bad and we should complain. If a feature is broken complain it might get fixed. Complaining before the game is even near store shelves though? It is no wonder the industry doesn't listen to gamers.

And the scary part of this really is it could end PC gaming. Not all gaming but the big budget titles might disappear because of nonsense like this. You don't buy it because it doesn't have this feature that you may or may not need (again see haven't tried it before bitching that you do need it). So you don't buy it, consoles sell thiers like they are giving them away and where do you think the next big game is going to go? How entitled are you going to feel when you get nothing?

I wasn't suggesting having a hissy fit or throwing a temper tantrum, all I was suggesting was the refusal to buy games; that is until publishers smarten up. And since Activision and Infinity Ward publicly announced moves that gamers found undesirable, I figured it would be the perfect time to send them the message through such an act.
And you can't wait for the game to be released, it'll be too late then; the game will have been sold, the publishers will have made their profits and won't give 2 shits about you or your complaints. The only way to truly get them to sit up and listen, and I've been saying this for awhile now long before MW2 appeared on the horizon, is to hurt their sales figures and the only way to do that is to NOT buy games; but it has to be the collective mass of gamers that does this, me alone not buying games won't mean a thing.
You're right about one thing though, just boycotting the PC version is not going accomplish anything, except to maybe ensure that there is no more PC games from them in the future; which is why I wasn't just talking to PC games, I was talking to ALL gamers.

Well, I'm not seeing anything new with MW2, so I'm leaving it well alone.

You are never the only one with anything. Please don't ever make another thread with "Am I the only one..." in the title. You are not unique. Hate to break it to you.

For once, the hype is correct. It is a truly stunning piece of work. At least the campaign is, I have yet to try the multi...

I have hated the Modern warfare franchise ever since I was forced to take my eyes off of Halo 3 for 30 minutes to go play with my increasingly bitchy friends. After that phase passed, me and my peers grew fond of Gears of War 2, the first modern warfare 2 trailer and suddenly I am left alone with everyone jizzing over the fact you can ride a snow mobile
