Most things with Vampires in are actually quite good, it's just Twilight really makes alot of old fans of vampires hate them because the Twilight vampires are sick twisted versions of Vampires.

I would reccomend 30 Days of Night, the Vampires in that are the complete opposite of Vampfags (which is my new name for sissy vampires)

This and to answer your question Terramax it's because the people that make vampire novels are about as soulless as the Vampires themselves.

I am so bloody tired of vampires being nice because in the end their is nothing nice about cannibalism no matter how spiced up and different looking it is, it is cannibalism.

Also to MarkGraf, your right the World Of Darkness universe is one of the main reasons I haven't completely lost faith in vampires (Malkavian's are always amazing) but I prefer Changeling much more.

I don't like many vampires these days... I'm OK with Kate Beckinsale though... She's nice. Older vampires are fine, but not these new ones. They're aimed at little girls. Anne Rice's vampires are pretty awesome.

In games, I've only found good vampires in Legacy of Kain. That said, I haven't played many vampire games and I don't want to play Vampire Rain.

This is pretty much how I feel about the it.

As much as I will get flamed for saying it, I really wasn't a huge fan of True Blood either. The idea itself was neat, however the way it was carried out made me lose interest rather quickly.

I hate vampires, they stopped being cool a long time ago. I hate this new sexualisation of them as well as that just disturbs me. Nearly every movie in the horror section of my DVD store has vampires in it and frankly I've really had enough. Vampires are now out, let's find some other horror icon to idolise... suggestions anyone?

p.s The only Vampire I care about now is the one in Bram Stroker's novel. You know who he is.

I think you need to look up either the definition of original or study the history of vampires a bit better. If you think Blade is anything "original" in the Vampire mythos then you are sorely mistaken and your ignorance is, frankly, a bit uncomfortable to look at.

The only thing worse than Twilight fans is Twilight hates who refuse to shut up. We get it. The book sucks. I agree. It's freaking terrible but please just be quiet. It's worse than the Bush bandwagon of hatred as far as ranking tediousness goes. You don't have to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about it.

Vampirates? That'd be kind of cool, actually, if taken quasi-seriously. Think Davy Jone's mooks from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and give them a bloodthirsty twist. They sail in stormy seas in cloudy latitudes to avoid the sunlight, and thirst for rum AND blood.

There could be worse ideas for a B-movie.

Seconded. Anime is an acquired taste, but if you don't mind Japanese cartoons, Hellsing is a nice return to form for the oft-used children of the night. Alucard, our brutal 'hero', has no philosophic wangsting [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Wangst] over his unlife - just booming, sociopathic laughter as he proceed to butcher an entire room full of baddies with oversized handguns and his gorgeously animated supernatural powers. Hellsing - the ultimate guilty pleasure for fanboys seeking Twilight refuge.

Anyways, I am sick of vampires too. They aren't even that interesting. They suck blood, occasionally turn into bats (depending on the particular incarnation), and hate the sun. Any more depth you can put into a vampire equals the depth of any normal human character, only with those little batty sprinkles on top. Seriously, could we find some other supernatural creature to whore out now? I feel we've done all we can (and more than we should) with vampires.

I usuay don't care for vampires. I mean the old concept of the bloodsuckers who can turn in to bats and drink blood were sweet. Ir is just they are better as horror movie material than anything else. I was very disappointed in Oblivion when becoming a vampire I learned that I couldn't fly around or go in to a bat to terrorize people.
