Honestly, looking at some of the comments here, I can't help but see a bunch of jaded cynics complaining about how far Nintendo has fallen, etc, but to me it really just sounds like a bunch of old fogeys complaining "back in MY day, things were better!"

Am I the only one that actually thinks Nintendo is still doing spectacularly well and still generally makes great games?

Paper Mario: Sticker star was different, yes, but that doesn't make it a bad game. The writing, as always, was enjoyable, and the gameplay, though simplified, was still very enjoyable, and much more well-suited for the portable 3DS as opposed to the more in-depth console titles.

Kid Icarus: Uprising just so happens to be one of my new favorite action games, and despite what other people seem to say, I've never really had much issue with the controls at all. I'd gotten used to holding the stylus while moving with the control pad halfway through the first chapter, and if I was feeling any discomfort, I was having too much fun with the game to notice.

Skyward Sword is now my favorite Zelda game of all time. Yes, even more so than Wind Waker or *gasp* Ocarina of Time. Sure, Fi was annoying sometimes, but like Navi, it's fairly easy to simply ignore her and still have a good time. The game was more linear, but that's arguably what makes it the best in my mind. Instead of exploring vast swaths of empty landscape with little to do, every area of the overworld involved solving puzzles in order to move forward. Dungeons are the best part of any Zelda game, and in Skyward sword every part of the map was a dungeon. The sprint meter made movement much easier and more natural, and the upgrade system gave some extra depth to the standard items. And then there were the motion controls, which unlike many other games before, were responsive, felt natural, and gave an added layer of strategy to defeating even the smallest enemies. And did I mention they were responsive? Unlike many games on the Wii before, Skyward Sword's motion controls worked. It was basically everything that I had imagined from the Wii when it had launched, and that's saying a lot.

I haven't played any of those titles, but I like Nintendo as well. Partly because they breathed new life into my Wii for a bit, and because they still know how to make good games without resorting to following the industry. That and the fact that they're trying something different when it comes time to do so. See the Wii U. Even though I don't have one, a good number of the games there are making me consider dropping a few hundred on one.

Nintendo is still doing so stupidly well over the other two companies than it should be obvious than no, you are not the only one who still likes them.

I don't think the nintendo hate is as large on this site as it looks at first, it's just a very, very loud minority. I still like Nintendo, and I know lots of people on this forum do.

Oh, glob. This seems like a trap but...alright, I'll bite.

I'll admit I miss "old" Nintendo but simply because of nostalgic reasons that have to do with me. I miss the incredibly simple yet deliciously challenging games of yore. I feel like the new Nintendo titles are, for the most part, reaaaaaally easy. I also try not to throw dirt at those who might like Nintendo, mostly because, ya know, live and let live.

My PERSONAL problem with Nintendo was the whole motion controllers and now, the tablet thing. To me, they seem to be going for gimmicky stuff as opposed to quality. We know they make badass games so why do they feel the need to ruin them with motion stuff?! I know, I know, because that's the purpose of the Wii/WiiU. But why?! Skyward Sword could have easily been my favorite Zelda game ever if it wasn't because my battles consisted of mostly shaking the remote to and fro and it wasn't as responsive as I expected it to be, even with MotionPlus (At least in my case; that one Zelda minigame for the WiiU is waaaaay more responsive and satisfying). Other than that, I loved the game! Same with Donkey Kong and most Mario games. (Minus the responsiveness for the last two games; Kirby's Return to Dreamland was awesome, though).

I know that thanks to them, we're moving forward in gaming and we have the Kinect and...*sigh* the MOVE. But, and again, personally, I still see them trying to run ahead of the pack and make bad business decisions that are mostly being reflected on the WiiU sales, as of recently. I know they're capable of releasing good and original games. I know they still have the potential to be the leading industry out there. I know they don't need to copy anyone else's ideas; it's the other way around. And yet...

Well, you know what? I think that's enough to get flamed (somehow) for a long time. So I'll be leaving now before that happens...

I like Nintendo but I do feel they've just become stagnant. When I pick up a "new" Mario or Zelda game, I feel like it's basically the same game I was playing back on my NES or SNES. They make what I feel are pointless "innovations" in areas like control method but don't address innovations in their long running series (or create new IPs to showcase forward movement if they're too afraid to change the old).

I want to like the "new" Nintendo, I was an absolute diehard Nintendo fan growing up, but every time I try I feel like I'm on a forced nostalgia trip to the decades old Nintendo Land theme park. I don't deny their games are still very solid and, for the right audience, probably still very enjoyable.. but I'm just not part of that audience any more.

I've enjoyed Skyward Sword as well. I never really got why so many people had issues with it. (Well besides the song collecting section towards the end of the game, that wasn't really needed in my opinion)

I've also rediscovered my love for Kirby, so there's that as well.

Mario however, I can't really bring myself to enjoy his games anymore. I've played New Super Mario Bros. Wii U at my sister's house with my nephews and I just found the game kinda rehashed and copy pasted.

I used to be a huge nintendo fan. All my systems were nintendo up till this generation. I bought the wii and the good games were so few and far between I ended up buying a 360 and for the last 4 or 5 years I only used my wii for smash bros and playing cube games.

I nothing Nintendo. To say I don't care would tie way to much emotion to it. They exist, that's all I can say about them.

I still love Nintendo. Their games are usually excellent and their hardware is well designed (my 3DS XL is a sexy, sexy beast).

You're never the only one.

I care about Pokemon but that's kind of it. If Platinum games continue to come out with quality exclusives for the Wii-U I'll have to pay attention to that, too, but at the moment it's just Pokemon. I hadn't even thought twice about a 3DS before they announced X and Y.

I only own 3 consoles

An SNES, a Gamecube, and a Wii.

That answer your question? However, liking Nintendo doesn't mean defending every decision they make or every product they put out. In many ways being a fan means being even more sensitive to the bad stuff, so I'm a little upset at Nintendo right now. A LITTLE upset, I still think they know what they're doing and will always defend them from unfair attacks. But all these Mario games are drawing resources and attention away from new and creative stuff.

I empathize with you OP? On this site Nintendo fans are ranked somewhere between Nazi's and the AIDS virus. Stay strong my comrade.

I'm neutral towards Nintendo. They do their own thing, and I guess there seems to be a market for that, so that's fine. As long as I've still got at least one other console that understands what I want in a console is for it to get out of the way and let me play a game, I don't care what Nintendo do. I will admit, despite all their claims to innovation I find them unbelievably lazy, because they only things they seem to "innovate" are things that didn't need fixing in the first place. It's like taking a perfectly good car, and instead of making it go faster, be safer, look better, or be more comfortable, they've decided that we should replace the steering wheel with a joystick that shouts at you.

I'm starting to think these "Am I the only one" threads are secret lures to attract jaded cynics like me to say "NO YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE" could be just me though.

On topic (ahem) No OP if you were the only one obviously Nintendo would join in a nice comfy grave with the likes of................. I don't know any well loved companies that have bit the dust recently oh well you get the idea. Obviously people still like the franchises that Nintendo pumps out annually. Although I'm not sure if those people are vets or a bunch of newcomers.

It seems we have a new mystery on our hands.

Do veteran Nintendo fans still like Nintendo?

I AM one of the old guys usually agreeing with the "in my day" crowd. And I still favor Nintendo of the consoles. The PS3 and XBOX exclusives didn't hurt me much because of my PC, and Wii offered admittedly few great titles. But the ones that were great made the Wii worth having. Nintendo will be my console of choice for one reason... it's the faaarrrrr greater value. I've owned over the years 2 sega genesises (genesi? anyway 1 still works) 4 ps1s (1 still works) 5ps2s (1 still works) 2 xboxes (1 still works), and 3 xbox360s (all broken and screw it). I'm still on my first PS3, but it's almost a year old so I'm guessing it's about to die. On the nintendo side we see a different trend. I've owned 1 NES (still works) 1 SNES (still works) 1 N64 (still works) 1 Gamecube (still works) and 1 Wii (still works.) I'll give Sega the Dreamcast (mine still works) but the evidence is overwhelming. Nintendo makes quality products. Everyone else makes shoddy junk designed to fail just after the warranty is void (about 1 year.) I haven't bought a Wii U yet, but I will have one before I get anything else that might show up on the market. And if I had to bet on just ONE of my next console purchases surviving to still be playable 10 years from now... every cent would be on the Wii U.

I have always been a Nintendo fan, I'm not adamant enough to call myself a fanboy anymore, but I still think they put out some great titles. Motion controls and the Wii U are great for those titles where it works, terrible when it doesn't. I like Nintendo for their good titles and their good ideas. I don't have to buy the bad titles, the shovelware or the titles with crappy motion controls. I feel this way about pretty much every company in consumer electronics. I like good products regardless of who made them. If Sony wants me to buy a game that I like then, why not? If Microsoft wants me to buy an improved OS for my computer then why not? Panasonic has sold me the best shaver I have ever tried and I am glad I bought it.

Yes, yes you are. In fact due to phenomenally poor reception Nintendo have had to take to drug dealing and robbing banks just to get by. Interestingly this change of direction for them has made them the most profitable games company in existence.
