I havn't done much research into this, but from what I've heard you use it to let everyone know what your doing and thinking about every moment of the day. I have one question.
WHY WOULD ANY SANE HUMAN BEING CARE?
If you use it, please tell me why it's so damn popular. And if you agree with me that
it is as dumb as a screen door on a submarine, please let me know that there are others out there.

A screen door on a submarine is less stupid than twitter. I guess people want you to care how they feel.

I use it, it's kind of like the facebook status bar. I usually use it to put up random thing whenever I feel like it.

I think it's dumb, but I've heard a lot of people who use it say that before they did. I'm doing my WoW approach, no matter how popular it is, I will never actually use it.
I made an account, but that was because I wanted to be Aston Kutcher's 1 millionth and get a year's worth of free games from EA. But that's over now, I don't give a rat's ass about Twitter.

And it's popular because people want everyone to know how they're doing, what they're doing. Goddamn narcissists, that's what they are. NO ONE CARES!

EDIT: I just realized, the guy who created Twitter co-founded Blogger.com, didn't he?
What will he do next to castrate human online communication?

I actually tried twitter but could only muster enough interest to tweet once. I think it caters to the young teenager and or narcissist who is very insecure and has to maintain constant contact with others. Me, I don't give about what you are doing and you don't need to know what I am doing.

The only good thing on twitter is the cobra commander feed.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. Setting up meeting to buy Gitmo.

Eh, i made an account. Got bored and left right away.
It really is just a fad, with the only interesting thing being those status updates of fictional characters doing weird things. like Pokemon. I only read that on G4TV's the feed though, but some of the lines cracked me up.

yeah I'm not about it. It's the pinnacle of self-important garbage. I mean, not to say that most internet activity isn't... but this is the pinnacle!!

Most people keep saying "I don't care" followed by a sentence full of hate towards it.

Makes me wonder if maybe you all just hate it because you couldn't find ten people to care about what you had to say.

There are legit uses for this kind of service. It serves as an easy to follow message board type system. You don't have to use it update the world on what kind of meat (or veggies) you had on your sandwich for lunch. Nobody needs to know your still in your PJs at noon (unless I find you very attractive and can imagine those PJs as skimpy).

Personally I really could care less.

I thought the same until I found Jhonen Vasquez's Twitter account. It amused me to no end, given that the first entry was of him telling f how he jumped in the air for no reason and hadn't come down, leading to near starvation, losing one's legs to a speeding humvee and killing some brat who hid under the trashbag he wrapped around himself to hide his shattered legs, leaving only his skeleton. If you find the right account to watch, it can be very using, and bring a smile to your face for almost no reason.

Or you could follow the shows on CNN and use it to never miss another news story... if you want.

I can see how Twitter can be seen as stupid, but then again, this is the internet. Many stupid things abound here.

I'm not quite sure what I think about Twitter, because I honestly feel as though there's something about it (e.g. the appeal) that I simply don't understand. So I suppose I'm on your side here.

Because people are self centered and it gives them the oppotunity to spout off about things no one cares about without seeming self centered because it's the cool thing to have.

It can give your friends updates on what's going on with you right now, and it lets you send messages and stuff.

Um, guys, we post about what super power we would like to have or argue about the correct way to fight a zombie apocalypse. I don't think we really have the moral high ground over twitter here. Just sayin'.
