Am i the only one who cares that New Vegas looks EXACTLY like Fallout 3?

I don't mind at all. Same thing could be said for fallout 2 in comparison to fallout 1. But they are both still great in their own way. And what do you expect? The area is quite big so a very spiffy engine would mean more data on your HD or more DVD's instead of a larger map.
New Vegas is the only game I've been looking forward to these last months and I hope it will be worth it.
I'm still a huge fan of the fallout title.

Changing a game like Fallout is risky business. Just ask all the tormented F1 and F2 fans what they thought of F3, or what X-Com fans think of the upcoming X-Com, as if we need a reminder. But if you do, there's still all the first gen pokemon fans who would only be DELIGHTED to tell you what they think of the new Pokemon.

Rebooting old games that people hold in high esteem is a quick way to lose fans. I believe the company who're making F:NV are considering this in the back of their heads, always. Just imagine the F3 fan outburst if they screwed it up.

And it's still a while off yet. I'm sure there ARE going to be a few changes revealed before it hits the shelves. I'm just gonna sit back and wait until I judge it.

EDIT: Crap, I misread the thread. Not deleting this though, I kinda like this post.

Doesn't this game have a grenade-launcher minigun? If so, I don't see how you can be complaining.

So it looks the same. That may be because it's using the SAME GRAPHICS ENGINE. To put it in perspective, it's like the new bugatti veyron. The old car had it's flaws, so they made a new faster version. It still looks the same (apart from some slight body work and some orange bits) but it's more or less the same car, just much much better. Fallout New Vegas on Paper looks set to address several complaints about Fallout 3, but we'll have to wait. The Graphics are the least of their worries since they already have a perfectly good, if dated, engine.

Eh i don't know, we will just be going through the same motions as we did in Fallout 3.
As in talking to people, getting quests, killing stuff and levelling up?

Same as any RPG.

Honestly, I love the graphics in Fallout 3. Sure, the animations are crap and it's got some low rez textures but to me it all adds to the retro charm. So much atmosphere.

Whats the point then?
Are you for real?
Atmosphere, storytelling (more so in the older ones), characters, humour, the excitement of combat and the joy of leveling up.

The old Fallout games are amazing and they're practically 2D, all built around the fun of a well-made RPG.
They never sold on graphics.

Not like Fallout 3's graphics were terrible by any stretch of the imagination.

It's a bit of a minor point imo.

Here is my quote that YZ will make:

"You know how i said in my fallout 3 review that it felt the were putting wallpaper on they game and selling it to the masses? Well compared to the changes in Fallout New Vegas that's like they changed the fallout series into an entirely new genre of games."

Or something along those lines.

Yeah, it does look like Fallout 3, but that doesn't mean it isn't different in gameplay, location, cast, weapons, and story.

It's still my favorite looking game to this day.

It's all about the style and atmosphere, not the pixel size.

Fallout 1 and 2 still look great and full of charm too.

Damn, I was away from the thread for only a couple of minutes and someone has already replied with what I would say to that.

Thank you.

I agree that it's annoying that it looks exactly the same as FO3. However, FO3 was an awesome game, and I wished that they hadn't stopped making expansions for it. So I am going think of FO:NV as one big expansion that I'm being charged nearly £40 for.
same here!

Fair enough, although the story seems to be about you waking up with amnesia and finding a very special box that someone stole from you.
