I agree that it's annoying that it looks exactly the same as FO3. However, FO3 was an awesome game, and I wished that they hadn't stopped making expansions for it. So I am going think of FO:NV as one big expansion that I'm being charged nearly £40 for.
same here!
Not a bad way to look at it, better than most.

I think F3's graphics are/were nice, so I don't mind in the slightest. F:NV can only be a success in my opinion.

new; map, factions, weapons, armors, storyline are good enough for me :)
- and i don't care about the graphics... gameplay ftw!

Love your avatar...Judgement was always such an amazing attack...

err, anyway, on topic. Graphics really shouldn't matter, as long as it isn't a carbon copy of FO3, and as long as it doesn't suck, New Vegas should be fine without the graphics update. So to take a note from the quote...gameplay ftw! =P

I thought Fallout 3 was awesome, so even if New Vegas is just more of the same, I'll still enjoy it. The graphics are fine, anyway. If they're your primary gripe with NV, you're missing the point.

A post-apocalyptic wasteland wouldn't be too varied, I would think.
Makes you wonder then why it's the subject matter for every fucking game ever.

Regardless, I think this will kick ass. It'll be like playing Fallout 2 on the Fallout 3 engine. With more stuff.

All it gives you is some new weapons and locations. You could do that in a dlc and get the exact same result
But there not only adding that stuff and the graphics are probably just beta

I guess that's all you can ask for really from a fallout game.

Yeah I agree... It looks just like Fallout 3 only possibly slightly better. Well it looks as though it could be better but it could also fail miserably...

I was seriously considering buying it but then I started playing Fallout 3 again... And I changed my mind. Its not worth buying a whole new game for some minor improvments.

My guesses:

The apocalypse reverts us to an 'every man for himself' condition, in a way somewhat justifying the violence and moral ambiguity in the games.

An excuse to come up with some wacky DIY weapons and vehicles.

The 'ruined world' aesthetic appeals to a lot of people. We can imagine our own world that way.

Senior designer in F:NV is Chris Avellone, he was also one of the designers in F2 and worked on Van Buren.

All I need to know about this game. Chris has some brilliant ideas, although he might lack the budget to execute them properly (And yes, I still think Alpha Protocol is an unpolished game, which has some amazing, truly innovative ideas, unlike some companies producing the same old crap over and over)

But they aren't just minor improvements, they're changing how the combat works, they're adding faction systems, changing the karma system, adding more quests, changing the scenery, adding random things you could do to pass time (much like what GTA does), giving you new weapons and new enemies to fight...

It might LOOK the same aesthetically, but that doesn't mean the the game hasn't changed as a whole. And people will buy new installments of old games ALL the time, with little to no complaints (COD is a prime example). So I'm sorry, if graphics are really what have you hung up, I have to agree that you are missing the point entirely.

It's being developed by Obsidian (here's a hint: THEY CAN'T MAKE GAMES PROPERLY), and visually speaking the game looks (a lot) worse; almost like a mod in fact.

That's all I need to know to totally disinterest me.

More of a rhetorical question, but you are indeed correct. I guess I just think something that many see as not having much variation potential should perhaps stop having games made about it.

I loved Fallout 3, and if New Vegas is like it but with more stuff in every area, why wouldn't it be good? Maybe since it's being worked on by people who worked on Fallout in the past, it can even please the fans of those other two Fallouts.

My problem with Vegas is that I don't think they will fix the one thing that spoiled FO3 for me. At no point did I feel like I was a desperate surviver in the wastes. Every survival mechanic they put in the game failed because there was such an abundance of loot to collect. Can any of you say that you ever had a problem with Radiation, Crippled limbs, low ammo? Did you ever have to pay a doctor for treatment, eat foodstuffs to survive or sleep to heal beyond it being mearly convenient at the time? New Vegas promised fixes to these problems and then it was released that the solution was to give ammo weight. Well thats a step in the right direction, but like a swimmer attempting to cross the Channel, paddling in the wake just isn't far enough.

Basically it does look a lot the same, but I never liked F3 actually, so I do not care for New Vegas.
