while i will get it i wish they at least fix the crappy animations, i mean they are terrible. Bethesda makes great games, and great looking games, but when it comes to jumping or anything like that its bad.

Graphically it looks the exact same as Fallout 3 but it's taken a new art direction instead of making absolutely everything green.

I don't know if I'll get NV. It seems to me that Obsidian will do a great job with what they've got, but I really feel that they need to remake the game engine from the ground up if they want to get rid of all the problems Fallout 3 had.

Man, I was so pissed off that Fallout 2 looked just ilke Fallout 1. And even more when Fallout Tactics looked just like Fallout 2!!! I mean come on! Everyone knows a games sequal has to have better graphics than the last!!! Cause thats the only thing the devs work on right?

No, it doesn't bother me in the slightest bit that the game looks just like Fallout 3, because that means they havent spent their time arsing about with things that dont matter (graphics) and spent all their time on improving other parts of the game (as previously listed in this thread).

And from what I've seen of videos, Vegas looks very different from the rest of the Fallout universe, so it's unfair to say the it looks EXACTLY like Fallout 3, because apart from using the same graphics engine, it doesnt look too similar.

I'm buying it because its exactly the same to F3 i thought it might be different and so was still debating whether to purchase but now that i have seen it i'm preordering. I just hope the story line its bad, which i have a feeling it might be.

I don't care for graphics at all. All I care about is plot. And since Obsidian delivered masterfully it in KotOR II (Minus cut ending, but restoration patch fixed it up) and Alpha Protocol, I sleep peacefully.

The little ive seen in trailers aka the landscape and HUD does look the exact same, which means by extension every other part of the game i havnt seen yet is automatically shit without me even having to play the game , so no buy for me.
Enlighten me with your massive knowlage of the rest of the game. Tell me about the characters and stuff. You cant? You have no idea about it other than it looks the same in the over world and the layout looks similar? Wow thats a game breaker for me, its not like the layout for cods 4 and 6 were the same. Oh wait they were. And its not like they only added new levels, weapons and features is it? Oh wait they did! A game that looks the same but improved on a lot. Not really buying your reasons here.

One of the things that Fallout 3 sold me on in the first place was the environment. It was fascinating to negotiate the smashed ruins of a "lost" civilisation in the same way that some people (me included) like to look around the ruins of old stateley homes and places like Pompeii (I haven't yet but it's on my list).

The Wasteland is a stark contrast to Downtown DC but they go together beautifully (if that's the right choice of word) and I think they are very well done. I can understand that New Vegas will re-use a lot of the Fallout 3 "look" because it would be a massive undertaking to completely start from scratch and, as the old phrase goes, "If it aint broke, don't fix it!"

If elements can be re-used then that's fine and can be explained away "in game" quite easily because, just like in the real world, recurring themes and styles are everywhere. OK I wouldn't want to see an exact carbon-copy and of the CW but from what I have seen, this is not the case. The building blocks might be the same but the end result will be much different as it will have been honed and developed on.

Fallout 3 had many problems but the environment / style wasn't one of them. Someone made the point about the new Veyron and I concur. The new Supersport is better than the original because Bugatti realised that the original wasn't that bad so all that was needed was a little refinement. The same is true of Fallout: New Vegas, in my opinion.

At least I hope it is because I pre-ordered it last week!*

* Will I ever learn? I pre-ordered Ghostbusters after everyone assured everyone else it would be great and it turned out to be shite! Fingers crossed NV is different!

I agree, but I will wait until I hear how good/bad/ugly it is and then let that decide whether to buy it or not.

Does a game need to look different to be different? The game is clearly going to look like Fallout 3 but that doesn't mean that the game will be the same. They will have a different plot and different character customisations. I seen someone say something about factions, that was something that Fallout 3 was missing.

From the screens I have seen of Fallout and Fallout 2 they didn't look too different but I've heard nothing but good things about both of them. This is going to be the same. Don't worry, just have faith that Obsidian will pull it off.

Did people complain halo 2 should just have been a halo 1 expansion? No they didnt because its a completely new fucking game just like this is.
One tiny point: Halo 2 didn't look exactly like Halo 1. This is not the case here.

I don't really care for graphics, so I don't really mind it looking exactly like FO3. More than that, if they again manage to capture the post-apocalyptic atmosphere in the way FO3 did I will really like New Vegas. Even if it is in essence a big add-on to FO3, I don't mind as I enjoyed all the FO3 dlc a lot. My only worry is that it will not be extensive enough to warrant me paying a lot of money for it.

I don't care, I just wanted Fallout 3 to be longer, and there it is... Plus, I haven't seen Halo Reach or ODST, but I bet they look exactly like Halo 3, which looks exactly like Halo 2, which looks exactly like Halo CE... There is more to a game then just looks, but looks are a plus...

Pretty much all Fallout games have the same environment, you know. A post-apocalyptic wasteland wouldn't be too varied, I would think.
Yeah, you can't change much with a setting like; "Shit got nuked, life sucks, deal with it.", it's gonna be big, desolate, and grey.

You've got a fair point I reckon. It looks exactly the same, albeit with a blue sky and the graphics aren't updated in any way, tho I've kind of given up on the Gamebryo engine EVER being graphically overhauled.

I'll still play it, since there does seem to be a few good improvements over F3 (ironsights anyone?) but I'll probably save my money for (hopefully) a GTA zombie survival. :D
