It's been a while since a Twisted Metal game has been released, so if you weren't playing games around 10 years ago I can see why you wouldn't have heard of it.

I remember renting it out a lot, I was a poor kid back then and rented loads instead of buying everything.
The best of the PS1 tm games, Twisted Metal 2, is on ps1 classics for PS3.

OT: I started on TM2, and did not stop. One, two, head on, and Black are the only ones that are out ATM that are worth a look-see.

I have heard of it when I was younger, don't know much about it apart from car combat, I am 23 now.

...yeah i guess it was possible to miss this one. it really was only big during the PS1 era so if your a younger gamer than missing it isn't that big of a surprise...that being said it was REALLY big back in the day so i'm surprised you never heard of it from someone else or never read about it in some random game magazine.

Having read all this I now have a sudden erge to play Twisted Metal again... I think I'm having a nostalgia attack. I hope they release it on the European PSN marketplace some time soon.

Seriously, this thread has made me sad... How is it possible that this many people don't know/didn't play Twisted Metal??

I had Twisted Metal 1, and a friend of mine had the sequel. The first one thoroughly rocked, and the second one was good too.

I bought TM:Black on the PS2, but it just wasn't as good, for some reason. I barely played it, to be honest.

I get the feeling some of the people here who have not heard of Twisted Metal are on the young side. I remember playing it whenever I'd go to a friend's house. I never played it enough to become a real fan of the series, but we had some damn fun times regardless. It was one of those games I didn't play as frequently as I did other games during that time.

Maybe you're a bit younger, or were just unlucky enough to have missed it, or were taking a lot more drugs in your youth than I.
Maybe I'm a bit older.

If they were relaunching Micro Machines, Gravity Force or Psycho Pigs UXB/Butasan I would know what was going on.

I knew what the two taxi drivers where talking about straight away but i had forgotten the name.
Never did really like that game. The ps3 version on display looked just as dirty and ugly as the older versions. =(
