There's your problem...TF2 is a game for the PC, not shoddy ports.

TF2 is a game for people that love FPS' and that care deeply about the games mechanics and execution. TF2 is a game that opts to make the game mechanics as elegant as possible, with incredibly balanced classes, weapons and maps, and while adding different facets and abilities to each class without causing a power imbalance. It creates a versatile game that allows for a huge number of playing styles, that are radically different and fun but not unbalanced.

TF2 is for the FPS fanatic who can pick-up on the small details of a game within the first few hours of playing, and to people like this, a game like TF2 with very little or no flaws, and a solid mechanic, causes the game to become very enjoyable because its not plagued with the many blights of other games in that genera.

Someone explain to me how 'fun' can be an illusion?
I think by illusion of "fun" I think he means that the game is supposed to be fun in theory and the idea is really great, but it isn't actually rewarding.

Like in TF2 it's like "check it out I'm with all these people and we're all gonna work together to do this, except I don't really know what I'm supposed to do, and why is that guy running into the wall...? Oh look, I'm going to lose this gunfight because I picked the wrong class, and no one else on my team is covering me...Alright, so because these guys barely communicate at all, there will be no tactics and this will be a 10 minute waste of time that I can't win and I can't even have fun in because I'll get killed by the competent players on the other team..."

When you win, it was because everyone on your team managed to do a mundane task without screwing up, and they did it in the correct area with the correct support. He might not find that rewarding, and instead prefer to have a high kill/death ratio and such.

its fun for a while but...

i think the key word your looking for is ''meh'' it looks good, fun, different

but hasn't really got any staying power or any drive to make you want to keep playing also would help that people would play as a team instead of fucking about ~sighs~

That's the root of your problem.

You're playing a version that supports half as many players, has none of the (masses of) extra content, probably has very few players with mics (TF2 demands good communication more than most FPS's) and none of the bug fixes.

Basically, you're playing the cheap EA knock off.
I don't know if it would alter your opinion of the game (or make you enjoy it), but you would see it is much, much better when played on the PC.

the classes were over balanced
...Huh? What do you mean by that? One of the reasons the game is so brilliant is because the classes are near-perfectly balanced.
EDIT: Am I the only one here who actually likes the 360 version...?

How is too much balance a bad thing?!

It's like complaining that your pizza is just the right size, your tea just sweet enough, coffee is not weak and not strong - just right.

Every game wants to be balanced and TF2 achieved it. Or maybe you just enjoy exploiting overpowered weapons/skills?

I think the PC version has more players and it has class updates. But i agree it wasn't that fun I think it was because i was on 360.

this is somewhat true, sometimes I will binge on TF2 until it physically dangers my health(joking), other times I won't touch it for months, but to me it is still an awsome game.

when things are too balanced it means that there's no point having classes since nothing is higher nor lower in effective ness

look at Killzone 2 everything is OVER POWERED but this add's so much to the fun because every class and badge has a job

while in TF2 it didn't matter who you pick because your always gonna play the same
plus it makes the game less fun when things are balanced

when i played as Pyro i found out that i could be playing as scout and it won't make a differeance because they were SO Balanced that you might as well call them clones

if i choose a different class i expect it to change my style of play

not just change how i look

Now I know you are just bad at game. You are telling me that you play a super-fast Scout that is really hard to miss, a giant and slow Heavy with a huge minigun and a stealthy Spy the same?

You probably don't know there are 3 types of Pyros out there...

1. Support - keeps enemies at bay on Defense maps, blows out grenades and rockets back at enemy.
2. Attack - focus on avoiding gunfire, then burning everything and forcing enemy to retreat.
3. Sneak attack - using the Backburner, sneak behind the enemies or ambush them to benefit from the 100% critical rate.

You also play different with a Sniper than any other class... What am I talking about - every class has a different style.

For example - what do you do if there's a Sentry behind a wall, hidden so your Heavy won't survive meeting him, Scout can't jump behind and kill, Soldier dies after shooting once? Use a Demoman. Put 5 stickies, boom. Or just 2 if there's a crit sticky. And Sentry (plus Engineer behind him) is no more.

Fail to do that and you'll see why you need a Demoman.

Not to mention that only an ubered Demoman and MAYBE a Pyro can clear out 3 sentries bunched up together.

Are you saying you played as the Pyro and the Scout the same way? You're doing it wrong then...
no i'm saying that i never needed to change my style of play becuase they both do the same amount of damage and etc...

so i could play as the sniper and nothing would change

take MGO

for example

if you use the shotgun you can easliy rack up kills but change to something else then you have to be very skillful

You are joking or trolling?

So you are saying an Engineer without turret is as strong as a Soldier? Or that Scout is as strong as a Demoman?

Or that Spy is as healthy as Heavy is?
