Personally I think considering the development time it is a disappointment, its essentially a carbon copy of the original, and yet it became virtually became vapourware.

Then again they do say, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

I don't know about any of you guys but I can't fathom you not enjoying yourself when your deviantly placed level 3 turret mows down an entire offensive.

There's your problem.
Yeah. PC version is updated. Nearly daily. However, I've found the scout update to...change the game a lot. I don't like that.

Okay, this isn't a personal attack against you in particular, it's just that my (usually fairly discrete) rage towards threads or titles worded in a similar manner seems to have reached the boiling point.

See this?

This is Earth.
There are about 6.7 billion people on Earth, each with their own thoughts and opinions.
So chances are, no, you are the not only one out of that 6.7 billion to dislike Team Fortress two.

I suck at the game, but it looks nice, plays well and, while not knee-slapingly funny, is comical at times as well. Though I do occasionaly wish there was a "guy with an asault rifle type gun" class for me to use, even though that would probably screw up the balance of the game a tad. I seem to prefer guns that fire actual bullets, so the Soldier, Medic, Pyro, Engineer, Spy and Demo-man classes tend to be ignored in favour of having either a machine gun or a sniper rifle.

I played the pc version for 10 minutes and haven't played it since, I found it so boring and know because of the new character updates it's not balanced any more, new players won't stand a chance against the people who play it non stop and unlock all the weapons.

How is too much balance a bad thing?!

It's like complaining that your pizza is just the right size, your tea just sweet enough, coffee is not weak and not strong - just right.

Every game wants to be balanced and TF2 achieved it. Or maybe you just enjoy exploiting overpowered weapons/skills?
when things are too balanced it means that there's no point having classes since nothing is higher nor lower in effective ness
Certain classes ARE more effective in certain situations. There IS a point in having different classes, because they're all radically different and it's what gives the game its strategic depth. If they were all exactly the same, you'd be right. But they aren't.
And let me be the first to say that the 360 version is not in any way a bad game. In fact, it's still pretty amazing. The PC version might be better, but not all of us have $700 to spend on a machine that can run anything more than SNES emulators and RPG maker games.
@ultimateownage: The weapons all have their own drawbacks. They don't obsolete the ones you don't unlock and they aren't ultimate killing machines for new players. No, you won't get mowed down by people who have them unless they are, in fact, better than you.

Yes, it does make a difference. a huge one. The PC version has had bugfixes, class weapon updates, hundreds of new maps, thousands of servers with different settings and mods to enhance the play experience, payload gamemode, and much, much more.

also if you thing the classes are in any way similar, you are clearly playing them horribly, horribly wrong.

Scouts are fast and weak, making them ideal for capturing after other classes have cleared the way.
soldiers are fairly average, having slightly higher power than some other classes, and the ability to rocket jump.
Pyros are good for close range, but have no other distinctive characteristics. Their ability to ignite enemies also allows them to attack and retreat while still doing damage.
Demomen are incredibly good at destroying engineers hard work, but with the drawback of limited range due to the arc of their fire.
Heavies are the tank class. They can mow down enemies and have high health, but with the drawback of being extremely slow and inaccurate.
Engineers have useless underpowered weapons. They make up for this by building sentry guns, health and ammo dispensers, teleporters, and other things to help their team.
medics also have low firepower, but have the ability to heal and make their teammates invulnerable for short periods of time.
Snipers have very little usefulness at close range, but their sniper rifle allows them to kill from across the map with perfect accuracy. They are also the only class that can kill a heavy in one shot without ever being in danger.
Finally, the spy. Also fairly low powered, the spy can sap and destroy engineer buildings, as well as being capable of disguising as enemies, turning invisible, and getting instant kills with his knife from behind.

None of these classes are in any way similar. at all. They each have strengths and weaknesses, and each play a key role in winning the round.

I think TF2 is pretty fun. I can't say for the PS3 version, having not played it myself, but maybe the PSN issues contribute maybe not you'll have to tell us.

It's okay, I didn't really enjoy all that much. I can see why people really like it, but the game mechanics all just grate on my nerves.

Just a veeeery small question. How come when people talk about games on multi-platforms and how the game sucked, the first thing to fly out of people's mouth is "it was the ps3 version?"

Just an observation no need for a "bash off."

Thats ok, not everyone was bound to like it.

I personally find it quite good, i play it more than i do left4dead or any of the counter-strikes.

I don't think you gave the classes much of a chance. They are very different, and if you try to play them all with the same style you wont be nearly as effective as someone who plays to the classes strengths.

Though it is possible to play scout and pyro the same way, their are other ways to play both those classes that will do much more damage and help the team far more.

Although maybe TF2 just isnt your "cup of tea"

Geez shut up will ya. How do you know its not balanced anymore if you only played it for 10 minutes? Cause you read "Scout gets new weapons!" somewere in the internet? And the game doesnt reward the player for playinf non-stop. Most of the achievments needed for the first weapon unlock for most classes you can get in 20 minutes.

The PS3 version is filled with bugs and bad controls. And both console versions havent got a single class update. Thatsb why people ask right away "is it PS3/360 version?".

when things are too balanced it means that there's no point having classes since nothing is higher nor lower in effective ness

look at Killzone 2 everything is OVER POWERED but this add's so much to the fun because every class and badge has a job

while in TF2 it didn't matter who you pick because your always gonna play the same
plus it makes the game less fun when things are balanced

when i played as Pyro i found out that i could be playing as scout and it won't make a differeance because they were SO Balanced that you might as well call them clones

if i choose a different class i expect it to change my style of play

not just change how i look
Boy you have no idea how TF2 works...Having overpowered classes=Lots of people playing the OP classes few playing the other. Balanced classes=People play the class they like more or the one that brings more to the team in that particular moment.

And while TF2 is one of the easiest multiplayer FPS to pick up and have a high score(unless you pick Spy) it rewards more the player for playing as a team then in *insert multiplayer FPS* were everyone is fragging the hell out of each other.
from my experiance off reading all these replies

i'm gonna say that TF2 would be a awesome game IF IF IF you play it on PC

so i got my problem figured out !!

I find this sudden erge to start a mini-rant.

I disagree. I really do. I really really really really really really really really do.
How can classes be OVER balanced? What do you want some god class to annihilate all the others? Well then how are the other classes going to be playable? Everyone will just play that one class and it will be boring. Wanna play a different class? Too bad! Someone didn't like them so we just made them all piss poor and this one god like. If one class is overpowered then everyone will play it making the game frustrating for other classes and boring for the one class. Balancing is there for a reason.

but when i played it i found boring

the maps in my opinon were not good

the classes were over balanced

and all fun seems to be illusion

but thats my view

(it was the PS3 version if it makes a differenace)

so what did you think of TF 2 and why ?

Personally i first played the Xbox 360 version. I thought it was HORRIBLE.
but then steam had a free TF2 weekend on pc so i tried it out.
IT KICK ASS of serious proportions.
why? maybe because i feel that on the consoles it is SLOW. its a pc game. Personally i think it should have stayed that way. on the pc its seems to be faster in pace and easier to control and whatnot.

its called tactics. you put down a sentry, ANY class can destroy it, ANY class can kill a heavy, the list is endless. in the first one every class had a class that could deal with it, in 2 you just choose what you want to look like when you run out of 2fort, since thats the only map people seem to play on the 360
This is a good thing. Meaning no class is gimped. Because rock-paper-scissors is the worst kind of "balance" that never works.
