yeah. i'm a dude and even i would admit that the actor is handsome, i dont put it past him.
but vampires arent supposed to be drop-dead gorgeous. they're supposed to scare us, not make us fall madly in love with them
I'm not so certain of that. Numerous vampyric mythologies describe vampires as unnaturally seductive and charming.

EDIT: By the way, here's something funny for you all, fellow Escapists:

yes but their whole reason for that is to be able to seduce them into a weakened state to kill them
Exactly. They were still beautiful and seductive, in a way, drop-dead gorgeous. At least, they were according to some mythologies.
From what I know it's more of an illusion, a degree of shapeshifting if you will, so as to lure their victims to their untimely deaths. You may be getting vampires confused with incubi and succubi, seeing as the concept is very similar.

No you're not. Though I think the Twilight train has lost a lot of its steam at this point. Look, Edward Cullen is a pussy compared to other vampires. Alucard could destroy Edward with his sheer awesomeness.

Interestingly enough, two friends of mine, who are both girls, saw Twilight and didn't like Edward. Keep in mind these are teenage girls and they didn't like Edward. It's not only guys.

No, I don't believe I'm getting them confused. I merely acknowledge that some mythologies speak of vampires as cunning and seductive bastards, while some see them as disgusting-looking bastards. The latter I didn't bother to mention because the other guy's implications were mentioning those ideas for me.

How I would love to see that. I want to see Alucard do to him what he did to Luke Valentine. That would be indescribably awesome.

Eh, just a thought. But I still think it's a mix of the two. They're disgusting-looking bastards that can make themselves look like cunning and seductive bastards.

I loved the books for TWO reasons.
One: They were written like bad fan fiction and were absolutely delicious.
And Two: Since Harry Potter, they were the best books I'd read.

I hated Lord of the Rings. I couldn't get past the first chapter because of the utter crap spluttered across the papers of that book.

No wonder there are no women on the internet. You idiots would make them feel terrible.

And there's mythologies that state that. In the end, we're all correct.

Out of all the things in Twilight, you're bagging on Edward?
im really bagging on that puss-bag Edward because he is the thing that gets the most focus, to the point where people (namely 11 year old adolescent girls) only focus on him instead of the story.

imagine how horrible harry potter or the lord of the rings or any other fantasy story would have become if the lead character was designed to be a "super sexy hunk" of a man. the beauty of good fantasy stories is the ability for the readers to relate to them which is why successful stories consist of "every-man" characters.

but i guess i'm contradicting myself slightly because the fanbase of Twilight is "LIKE OMG" teenybopper females who can relate to the girl in the story because they dream of dating a pussy little girly pansy boy who looks like what you would get if Prince fucked Dracula

Oh my god yes! And then he could bring him back as a familiar to get killed again by Anderson!

I'm really sorry for this... seriously... but I have to say it...

For a forum full of people who absolutely HATE Twilight, there are an awfully large amount of threads about it, aren't there?

It is to us what George Bush is to about 70% of all TV people.

well you know what, women try their hardest to get men to think like women (Twilight, sensitivity training, and pussy-boy emo music are all proof enough).

so i could give two shits if idiots like us make them feel bad because if they are actually getting offended by anything that anyone has written here, they shouldn't be allowed on the internet in the first place

Newsflash, fanboy--Those novels are meant specifically for teenage girls. You want some good vamp reading, check out Kim Harrison.

Hm... I see... But I think even Twilight is more articulate than Dubaya would ever be.

I agree with Zen. We just have to be topical.
