I'll be honest, I liked Gold / Silver / Crystal more than the original 3 Pokemon games. May be the only one that did, though...

For me, I didn't think Bioshock needed a sequel. It's been said before, but I didn't think the story of Bioshock 2 was as good as the first one.

Well, while Bioshock is a obvious answer, I don't think making a good sequel to Bioshock would have been impossible, Bioshock didn't need a sequel, but I wouldn't mind. However, what Bioshock shouldn't have gotten... What it didn't deserve, is the abomination people call Bioshock 2, I mean... If you're making a game, a requirement should be that you've actually played the first game and know what's going on, I did like the improved gameplay, what I can't tolerate about it is the absolutely horrible story... They actually changed things from the first game, and created HUGE plotholes, I mean just watch the ZP review! It's an insult to the first game.

srsly i know the sequal was just as awesome but Haggard had lost a lot of his humour which made the game a lot less enjoyable, it felt more serious aswell

DOOM II/Final DOOM. Doom 3 (and that god-awful Doom Movie) should never have been made, I prefer my zombies to be non-photo realistic and not get in my face before I can deal with them.

Shenmue. They should have finished the story in the first two games. That way people like me wouldn't feel pain every time the word 'sequel' is mentioned.

Can't think of one. If a game is made complete and great in its own right then it might not need a sequel, but surely follow up games can't make the originals worse?
i disagree. making a sequel most times involves adding to the plot of the first game. this can detract from the first by filling in gaps poorly where our imagination could do a better job, or just by giving us that knowledge of what the characters were doing next that can color our perception of the first... look at the entire star wars series.

OT: I'd say Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, Dead Rising ('cos it was rubbish), Minecraft, The Fallout series , Alan Wake and the Dawn of War series.
But there are still more areas of America we know nothing about. Also as long as Obsidian keep making the Fallout games I really want to see what new great characters and storylines they come up with.

MORROWIND!

You're talking about The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, right? I'm pretty sure that's not the first of the series. I could be wrong though.

Anyway, I can't really think of any game I liked that I absolutely wouldn't want to get a sequel. As long as it's a good sequel that is.
And about bad sequels that have already been made, you could just play the original again. I doubt it got any worse after the sequel was released.

I believe that Dragon Age Origins and NWN 1 shouldnt have gotten their awful sequels, they deserved better. I would have included Kotor 1 with it's sequel but it wasn't actually that bad, just needed a bit of fixing up =/

the vast majority of games don't need sequels. I have no problem with adding a number at the end and keeping basic gameplay and maybe a setting or even a few characters(kinda what FF does) but a lot of sequels suffer because developers try to fit in another story with the same characters despite the fact that their story is finished and/or it's just ridiculous to have one guy survive that many deadly cutscene wounds.

They had to start warming up for Battlefield 3 somehow.

Also I'm going to say CoD4:MW. It only got a sequel because Activision demanded it after the first one did so unrealistically and unexpectedly well. Does anyone even remember that? Sure, people expected CoD4 to be good, but not nearly as good as it was.

I feel your pain, my friend. Shenmue is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. I might even go as far as to call it THE most enjoyable game I have ever played.

It almost brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it's not going to get the sequels it was promised :(

Okay, screw everyone else, YOU have won the thread. I'd like to take FFX-2 and fire it into the sun. (I could go into a long rant about why I hate that game to it's core, but I'll spare you)

Dragon Age: Origins. DA2 was the singularly worst game I've played this year. The general poor quality and cut corners bespoke of a game which was obviously rushed to market in a bid to make a quick cash-grab.
The only reason you believe it cut corners is because it's not like DA:O. That's the point. They wanted to build a more restricted experience to show you what was happening in Kirkwall. DA 3 will most likely be back to the DA:O design because it won't be a "This was what was happening in another part of the world at the same time" story.
