I think I just won
So you're saying that Duke Nukem Time to Kill shouldn't have existed? Or Land of the Babes?

OT: Call of Duty 4, the perks in the following sequels just destroyed balance and were a modders playground.

Planescape Torment. This shouldn't have a sequel, a remake ... maybe, but not a sequel.

Super Smash Bros.
Don't get me wrong I have a great time playing Melee and Brawl with my friends it just doesn't feel the same. They should have made a new game series called "Super Mega Battle with an Ungodly Amount of Characters" and the sequel called "Super Mega Battle with an Ungodly Amount of Characters now with a Story."

It's probably been said at least fifty times by now, but BioShock. The sequel WAS a good game, and I really like the multiplayer, but it was nowhere near as good as the original, and it seemed to kind of spoil the feel of the first game if you play the second. That may just be me though.
And Halo. That definitely shouldn't have became a franchise, it was perfectly fine on it's own, and the others just weren't very good in my opinion.
Aand Fable. The first Fable was a great game, Fable 2 was very meh, Fable 3 was awful. Ol' Pete's an ambitious guy, I'm sure he could start a new game that isn't Fable. Black & White 3 would be nice.

Modern Warfare 1, I wouldn't say it was amazing, but it was verging on greatness and a sequel should've been fantastic...instead it just stagnated.

Also, the Mass Effect trilogy, I would like to see the universe expanded upon in other games, but I just can't shake the feeling that it would go horribly wrong, especially with EA in charge. Also, turning Mass Effect into a franchise would ultimately lead to a canonical Shepard being defined, which would ruin part of the appeal of the main games.

And as much as I'm excited for it, I really think Star Wars: The Old Republic should've been saved until after the release of a KotOR III. If KotOR III is ever released, it would lose impact because we already know what ultimately happens.

Portal. Yeah, I went there.

Prince of Persia Sands of Time. The story was self-contained! There was no trilogy planned, Jordan Mechner wrote Sands of Time, the sequels were made as cash grabs.

The Final Fantasies. I have yet to see a good sequel to any of them, the beginning of the end started with X-2, which made all the drama in the original moot. No Final Fantasy should have a sequel. That is all.

well for me it's portal 2, even though it is a sequel, it was a great sequel and it finnished everything nicely. All the plot lines were tied up, and (in my opinion) there is little area for valve to make a sequel without it being about a completely different person.

Call of Duty 4
Left 4 Dead

They are two the spring to mind. The sequels took way from the first one I feel ripped off for there being sequels.

I win
I'll be honest, I liked Gold / Silver / Crystal more than the original 3 Pokemon games. May be the only one that did, though...
Oh don't get me wrong, I loved Gold and Silver, but I would happily remove them from existence if the horrid ones after went too.

Planescape: Torment

However, I think another game in the Planescape setting would be a great idea with maybe mentioning the Nameless One. But there really shouldn't be another game focused on him.

I'm in the minority but I loved portal as it was, one game, the second one sucked in my opinion

Modern Warfare 2 is getting a third, that counts.

MW2 wasn't terrible, just average to the extreme. MW3 is just going to be shit. A multimillion-making shit.

Anything after Heroes of Might and Magic III. And in the same vein, Warlords II. Just wish I could get Dosbox to run II properly...Warlords works fine...but not II?
