Disease has also begun to run rampant, where a single touch can infect a man with painful boils and kill him within the week. For countless weeks you have remained inside your palace at the bidding of your advisor, frightened of catching this disease or being assassinated by one of your suffering citizens. There seems to be little you can do.
However, there is one possibility. One city, Creta, possesses the majority of the world's remaining resources. It is located near a freshwater bay, eternally thriving through trade. The border of the city-state is covered in looming trees bearing fruits, and its farmland, through decades of careful management, continues to grow a variety of products. It is prosperous, but strong- its soldiers are hardened warriors and its walls all but impenetrable. To take it alone would be suicide.
But surely... should you succeed... it would provide enough resources to care for your own city-state? At least, until more resources could be uncovered and the lands healed?
This is the choice you must make. Either do nothing, and face riots and murder at the hands of your own people- or lead your armies and build allies among the other monarchs to seize what you can.

As you can tell, this is a big story. I will be GMing as numerous NPCs and groups, as well as Queen Yvaine, her General Matias, and her Advisor Crassus. I am determined to being committed to this RP, and hope you will be too, should you join. :] Also, once everything is decided, I will provide a map and PM you with your situation and the best way to leave your city and reach Creta.
Also, PLEASE, don't everyone rush to be a monarch. If you prefer the actiony type, I'd recommend General; if you're the cunning, intelligent type, the Advisor is best; and if you're just bossy or vulnerable, go for Monarch.

This is a [realistic] historical-type of setting. There is little to no magic, and if there is, it is restricted to 'witches' and witch doctors, which incorporates the dark arts, voodoo, tribal rituals... that sort of thing.

Skang: Built in a valley beneath the tallest mountains of the world, Skang features one of, if not, the strongest military forces with a force of nearly 20, 000. Their financial situation, however, is the worst, and the military is beginning to lose hope except for a few loyal generals.

He lacks any hair to speak of as he shaves his head due to the fact he wants to have clear vision at all times. He is rather muscular and looks like he could kill a man with his bare hands, this he has proven to be true. He will normally be seen wearing a standard military uniform which he has grown to love during his time in service. The only distinguishing characteristic about his armor is some golden highlights around the side.

Public View: He is often regraded as the worst man to exist in Skang's military history, however also deemed to be the most effective. He is known for torturing those who capture enemies or failing their objectives, which has motivated the soldiers to become more efficient killers.

Weapons: When dressed officially, he carries a long light sword that is practically a rapier, but despite his advisers' best efforts, he also carries a beautifully made pistol crossbow. The advisers tel him a monarch should not use such weapons, but he says if someone dishonourable attacks him, hhe prefers to be able to shoot back
Personality: Jon is, in some ways, totally unsuited to the role of monarch. Born far latter than his brother Luke, he was raised for a post in government or as an ambassador, while his brother was prepared for life on the throne, made used to a life of luxury and passivity. However, once on the throne, his brother fell ill and died without a child, and Jon was made the King. He is often a problematic king, as he has a disconcertingly common taste in music, habits and dress, and refuses to be steered by his advisers, while on the other hand, he has a detailed knowledge of the law and of diplomacy. He also has a habit of wanting to take the nations business into his own hands, which causes great distress to a system that is used to having a puppet king.
Operating Method: As yet, Jon has little style of governing, s he is trying to win control back from the corrupt bureaucracy that grips his country

Weapons: She always has a steel dagger on her person, openly exposed and strapped to her belt.
Personality: She acts as a more reasonable and less rash counterpart to her King, she shows ideals and charisma never seen by any Government official ever to grace Skang. She is personally socially awkward, but kind. She is a relative pacifist.
Operating Method: She prefers to be reasonable with her goals, valuing life and property, but also forwarding the King?s agenda in a much more refined matter.
Public View: She is seen as a good person at heart; however she is usually unfairly blamed for Lithia?s fiscal problems, being a scapegoat for the foolish decisions of businesses, and the Government in Lithia for shipping goods badly. However, public opinion is tipped in her favour due to her kindness and fortitude.
