Well... Digimon Frontier isn't looking brilliant. I'm 5 episodes in and already despising 3 out of 5 main characters. 5 out of 7 including Digimon, and unless it improves I'll just watch the final 3, and call it a day.

But the main point here is that I am a person, who has not alot of experience in watching Anime. I have only watched ALOT of Pokemon, I stopped watching it around 2005, and I have seen All Digimon up to Frontier (Not finished, might never be), and I watched all of Medabots a loooooooong time ago, so what Anime shows could you recommend for me? I'm mainly looking for something with action so it would keep me interested, though if there isn't I at least want one where the story and characters are at least likable. I would prefer Dubs, but will settle on subtitles.

Any suggestions?

Yay, anime suggestion thread!

For fun action-y animes:

Blood+ (Vampires and blood all around)
Yu Yu Hakusho (Like DBZ, but they actually strategize and they don't take 20 episodes to convey 5 minutes...)
Full Metal Alchemist (Wonderful action and a terrific story)
FLCL (Short, but good action and crazy)

And though it's not as action intense as other animes and it dives into the deep end of the psychological pool near the end and has a complete "WTF" ending, I suggest 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' as it's my overall favorite anime and I simply loved it.

I find myself somehow glued to One Piece... as soon as I started watching I somehow started caring what would happen next, even though I could conveniently predict what would happen.

I really suggest Escaflowne. It isn't too long - maybe 30 or so episodes, but its really good. =)

I've just started on Trigun, theres lots of action buuuttt... eh, I'm not too huge on it. Though, my brother really likes it.

And... as mentioned above, Neon Genesis Evangelion is pretty good as well, though I've only seen the first 9 or 10 episodes of it.

Gundam Wing and Tenchi Muyo controled my childhood, i recomend any of them, they balance both action and story very well. However since they are a tad bit dated, here are some more recent ones that i have watched.

Gundam Seed was realy good and pulled me back into anime. It has a good story, good plot twists, and the charicters are well rounded.

The continuation of this, Gundam Seed: Destiny, has arguably a weaker story and charicters that made me almost quit the series before i was halfway through. however after the halfway point old charicters come back and makes the series a whole lot better.

Gundam 00 Has a more serious tone than Gundam Seed but the charicter are very well rounded and the story, though confusing at times, is exelent.
[sub].... I realy have to watch stuff other than gundam ....[/sub]

Seconded. Do yourself a favor and watch Gundam Wing. Every Gundam series tends to be excellent, but Wing is the holy-grail of awesomeness. Watch that first, move to other series if you like it.

Also, Cowboy Bebop. Old anime standard, but I've yet to meet ANYONE who doesn't like it.

Give Samurai Champaloo a go first because You won't be able to think 'ha Cowboy bebop' is better all the way through, But then watch Cowboy Bebop.

My favs:
Wolf's Rain
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Fullmetal Alchemist
FLCL
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Deathnote
There are more, but these are all good.

Edit: and if you want something really funny, try Ghost Stories with the English Dub. Very formulaic anime, but the dubbers were given free license to make up the script.

Elfen Lied is not bad, and pretty short, too. 12 or 13 episodes, I think. Decent Story, very emotional.
And why the hell didn't you watch Dragonball yet?! 80% of all Anime series from the 90s on rip it off.

Edit: Matrix: Revolutions does that as well.

This. One Piece is my favorite anime of all time, although only the first 200 episodes are dubbed. I would also suggest Code Geass, it has some pretty good action and a really good story, at least I think so.

Cowboy Bebop (decent dub)
Samurai Champloo (decent dub)

Fullmetal Alchemist (Amazing dub), then Fullmetal alchemist : Brotherhood (revamped anime adaptation that follows the manga storyline) (doesn't have the dub yet, great japanese)

Last Exile (brilliant dub, prefer over japanese)
Wolfs Rain (great dub, Prefer over japanese)
Samurai 7 (allright dub)
One piece (ORIGINAL ONLY, don't watch dub, just dont)
GTO (original only)
Trigun (original only, passable dub)
Gungrave (decent dub, mostly the male parts)

edit: Ignore the post under me...

If your looking for humor and action I suggest History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi and Tengen Toppa Gurren Langen.

If your looking for more inteligent themes and plots I would go with Death Note, Code Geass and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

If you like boxing or car racing I suggest Hajime No Ippo and Initial D respectively.

Also, the first 2 seasons of Rurouni Kenshin won't disappoint (especially the 2nd season) and if you havn't watched the first movie yet (Samurai X) then you're missing out.

Decent action with a good story? I make that Big-O-o' clock!

Yeah, Big O and Cowboy Bebop for passable dubs with good action.
