Crap, this has started to get out of hand.

I'll just re-iterate that I wish we could forget the urbandictionary thing. I was just relaying where I got the comment from. It could have been facebook, television, carrier pigeon, whatever. That's not important.

I should have phrased the whole thing as a question - is this sort of thing apparent in and around the US military?
That's pretty much what I was trying to get at and I have NO idea why I didn't just ask that in the first place. Pretty stupid.

Oh, and;

Seeing as we have weapons that can kill an entire group of men, controlled by a guy a thousand miles away in another country.. im going to have to disagree. And you want to go with Spetsnaz card, ok, yeah they are pretty bad ass. But Russia's army is made up of conscripts, young men forced into the army to fight. I don't think its any secret what would happen if a bunch of kids forced into fighting suddenly started getting AC-130d
yeah but this is the soldiers not the weaponry. (and realistically ac-130's cannot be used all that often due to needing massive air clearance and not be in civilian areas). Soldier for soldier your not stronger is my point. And having better weaponry is not a bragging point it just means your government cares more about killing people than setting up a working healthcare system.
Uh, and whose are? You arent making sense, infantry? marines? Air Cav? Spec ops? who are you talking about?
Yes - he is making sense.
Soldier to soldier. Basic infantryman to basic infantryman. British, US, Russian, whatever.

And if you're mentioning AC130s, don't forget to mention the massive cost (monetary) to fire just a couple of rockets out of one of those things...![/quote]

Army grunt v Army grunt then?
US Army troops are far better trained than their Russian counterparts. The average Russian grunt, is, like i said before, a conscript. Quickly trained, and not very gung ho. I would probably say the Israeli infantrymen would probably be the best trained. This is, of course, not taking into account Airborne, Rangers, Marines, CSAR, FAC, etc. Who aren't special forces, but aren't average grunts either.

Having been there, I can tell you they try desperately to pound a competitive spirit in you as soon as you step in the front door.

There's nothing wrong with it, being competitive is really important when you're in the military of a country that hasn't had a hostile military on it's soil(Not counting Japanese dropping a few military bases on their way to Pearl Harbor during WW2) in well over 100 years that is constantly sent into countries where war is a way of life rather than something you train for.

It's not something you're really going to get if you haven't been there, and it's DEFINITELY not something limited to any one specific branch of the US armed forces. Army lols at Air force and Navy for not doing anything and Marines for being dumb. Marines lol at Air Force for the same, and at the Navy when the Corpsmen aren't around(and sometimes when they are), and at the Army for being the cleanup crew after they blow the shit out of everything. Air Force lols at everyone because their chow halls are badass. Navy mostly does the same, though some of them did seem to avoid loling at Marines, at least to their faces anyway.

Most people tend to believe that their nations military is the best in some way, not just Americans.
