An M rated Zelda game, could it work?

I enjoy the innocence of the series too much to change it.

It would be funny seeing Zelda get her tits out though. But if you want that, just go to /r/ and call rule 34 on it.

Or go to DA, it's all over the place there most likely.

You'd ruin a lot of the charm of a Zelda game if you went this route.

Zelda doesn't need an M rating to be fun for even adults to play.

The last Zelda got a T rating I think, that's about as high as I can see it going.

Heck, better question.. would a Zelda with voice acting be a good thing.. an extension to that, would it be a good thing to have Link not a silent protagonist (as he always has been from the beginning)

There are a few things you can do to spice it up though.. instead of having Link the farm boy you can have Link the thief at the start of the game, IE, a hero that starts out as an immoral character.

A darker depiction of Link could also be utilized, but that'll grab a T rating if anything, like Twilight Princess was sorta darker than most Zelda games and got a T for it.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Personally, I liked the direction TP went, and I think it makes sense to have one timeline (the TP timeline) become darker while the other (the Wind Waker Timeline) gets more lighthearted.

I think them doing what they did with Metroid Prime 3 (i.e, get VAs, but keep the protagonist silent) would work, provided they got good VAs for this. The ones in MP3 sucked.

I think that if done CORRECTLY and not just an excuse to use gratuitous amounts of controversal material (whatever form it may take), than it can be good and enjoyable.

First question, do you even think an M-Rated Zelda game would work
Maybe. It would appeal to another crowd but lose it's main fanbase which is younger kids. Most people remember playing Zelda when they were younger. Also, the adults who actually can buy it would probably not be interested in Zelda.

I do think that it would be interesting to have a new twist on Zelda, but I doubt that it would work.

Second question, if there were an M-Rated Zelda game, what would you be expecting to see? (pick as many as necessary)

A) Swearing
B) Blood
C) Gore
D) Tits/Ass/Genitalia
E) Sex
F) Dark depiction of Link
G) Other
H) All
A) No
B) Yes
C) Yes
D) No... why???
E) NO
F) Yes

Honestly why would there be sex and nudity in Zelda? Even if it is rated M, it's unnecessary. Blood and gore make sense because it's a sword fighting game and adding that extra edge to it would make more sense than sex. The Dark depiction of Link actually sounds like it could work, even though it was already done.

What was bad about twilight princess being rated T? I quite enjoyed it.

The reason LoZ was successful was because it was for ALL audiences, and a M rated LoZ wouldn?t be LoZ........

Seriously, that would be like making M-rated Sonic, or M-rated Mario. It just wouldn't work.
My thoughts exactly.

The Legend of Zelda can become more outlandish, shown by some of the character designs in Twilight Princess. I can see a Legend of Zelda game with the enemy designs being more like something out of a tale by H.P. Lovecraft.
I'd love to see an entire franchise of silly Lovecraftian games (The Xbox game was one of the scariest I played- was pretty true to the genre and was definitely otherworldly) as opposed to the more serious take on it.

As far as a zelda game - you could make the regular world cartoonish (I know I keep coming back to the 2 world gimmick but it worked so well for A Link to the Past and the otherworld) and the otherworld a very dark alien twisted nightmare world with shoggoths and other horrors of indescribable geometry. This would lead to the classic but fun gimmick of switching back and forth to overcome obstacles in the otherland.
With the two worlds thing, keep in mind that there is a branching timeline, with one being cartoony (WW) and the other being dark (for Zelda, at least)(TP). Now that I thinkl about it, though, having the ability in an upcoming Zelda game to switch between the Timelines would be EPIC.

Ah see that's kinda what I'm thinking, though I enjoyed the VA in MP3.

Samus had a few lines but it was disguised by robotic kinda vocals covering her real voice.

Wasn't that the Aurora Unit?

No. Just no. Zelda needs to keep her fluffy stuffy in her shirt, Link needs to only be decapitating animated skeletons, and Gannondorf needs cheesy lines and a mullet. AND THAT'S IT!
This.

Although I would like to see a more mature setting, such as the interdimensional war they could have PERFECTLY set up in TP. The kiddies would understand it in their little minds, and the more mature would understand the ramifications of it and be genuinely interested in saving all of Hyrule.

Coming from a hardcore Gears fan, I am adamantly against Zelda shooting for over anything but a T. Hell TP was a T, and it felt almost too dark for my liking.

Some games are good with gore, swearing, and sex. Zelda is not one of them.

I meant that it attempted a grimdark world and failed miserably. That game was stupid.

Something like this?

I questioned it at first but I think a more mature Zelda anime would work.

I don't know, I thought their use of Dark is Not Evil [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DarkIsNotEvil] was pretty well done, I wouldn't trade that for a war between the Hyruleans and the Twili. That said, a more mature setting akin to that would be good.

Well, I and many others disagree on that. You're entitled to your opinion, though.
