Well dude that sucks ass, my brother is having problems with his 60gb PS3 we think it's the HDD so it may not be that the PS3 itself is dying. Mine is working fine and I hope it stays that way, same wtih my 360.

The nice thing about Sony's support line was that I was obviously talking to an American, instead of an Indian. The bad part is that she was rather unpleasant. Sony also has more hoops to jump through to get the repair process going (like requiring a copy of your original purchase receipt), while Microsoft's process was completely no-hassle.

m$'s xbox support is not in India, it's in Canada unless they've opened an Indian call centre. there were 2 in Canada, one in ontario (the good one) and one in bc (the crappy one)

I can't speak for Xbox (we all know the story there), but my ps3, bought used, 60Gb model... is alive and kicking.

Only two months after I bought a PS3 and it completely craps out on me. Locked up while playing a movie and no longer sends out video over any connection type, regardless of power cycles or display setting resets.

My track record this generation is now two dead Xbox 360s and one dead PS3. I may be cursed, but anyone that claims significantly better reliability can now officially bite me.

Thankfully, the only things I'm missing out on are Disgaea 3 and the Iron Man Blu-Ray. I'd probably be much more upset if I was actively playing it.

Ours just crashes at inopportune moments but that goes for both consoles. But the 360 sounds like an aeroplane these days so I'm getting concerned.

Maybe, I can't recall. I don't get to play it so often as it's at home and I'm at uni. So it always astounds me how noisy the damn thing is. This is why I would prefer the Ps3 if it ever got some decent ports of games. As it is, it's just a big ps2.

You can install the game onto the hard drive if have the NXE and it runs a lot smoother and quieter. Pity that almost everything else about the NXE is balls.

Now I don't want to turn this into a console vs PC thread (if it hasn't already), but why are there so many reports of failing consoles? Notably the 360. RRoD here, RRoD there, this is my 3rd Xbox, my PS3 no longer plays DVDs.. etc etc.

Honestly, what's with the quality of these consoles? .. not to mention getting something along the lines of "a bad copy" of a game.
