?And I asked her for some happy news

Seeing as this is ?the escapist? which by definition means; one who avoids reality by absorption of the mind in entertainment or in an imaginative situation.
I got to ask; why so serious? The outer world is bad enough. Yes I know gloom is usually fairly intellectually stimulating, but let?s get some perspective.

Way to many angsty questions here. What?s your most traumatic moment, worst moment, worst injury, biggest bombshell and those are just samples. So to lighten the gloom and doom here.

What?s some of the best news you ever heard? Me?

Finding out I was gonna get to be an uncle was pretty damn sweet. I didn?t fully appreciate it at first because I was only 17. As I grew older I saw how awesome it is to be an uncle. Every time one of my brothers announced an addition to our big honking family (yes we honk frequently) I feel happy. I enjoy competing with my brothers (i have 5) to see who is the favorite uncle of our various nieces and nephews.
When my fiancé agreed to marry me was great as well. We were at a big dinner at a friends house with most of our friends, I took a knee, and started laughing hysterically (I was very nervous). She said ?what are you doing?? I said ?Well, I want to ask you to marry me but I can?t stop laughing.? He eyes got wide, her and the other females present started jumping and screaming. I said ?soo???
Her answer to ?the big question? ?Duh!? and then a big kiss on the mouth.

So anyone remember some 'good news' they've gotten? Or even a triumphant moment? Hell a 'soft' piece from a local news station.

I totally know what mean by gloomy posts. You forgot "Worst way to Die."

As for my best news? That would have to be when my girlfriend went out with me :)

Well I guess that whole pretense of angst and sad threads comes from rather young people or just that a lot of people consider drama to be more intellectual...

I got my diploma results and they were pretty awesome, a lot better than I had expected. I didn't really study and it didnt really matter in the end but I had great results and that was a pretty sweet email when I got it.

Our band might be supporting the Cheeky Girls! That's the best news I've had recently.

I agree, I think there's too much doomy gloomy sad stuff, it's the same in the news over the last few years aswell, I honestly can't say I've seen "happy news" on the BBC News broadcasts for ages.

That paints a fantastic picture.

For me, one of the biggest highlight moments was definitely getting into my current career.

I'm sure the moment won't be forgotten by those present. :)
What is that current career?

I met a girl who sang the blues

But she just smiled and turned away.
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before,
But the man there said the music wouldn't play...

Ermm... is that actually a quote from American Pie (the song, obviously)? Or is it coincidental? 'Cos that's a song about getting some unhappy news.

Anyway my 'happiest news' would be when my University acceptance letter arrived a week before Christmas a few years ago.

I was pretty stoked when I first moved out of home. I'm pretty sure I'm still riding that surge of happiness nine or so months later :)

I agree with the doom and gloom thing. Sadly enough though I can't think of anything that made me remotely happy lately, but it's most likely because I'm sick right now and my head hurts.

Hell a 'soft' piece from a local news station.
I can contribute to that though. Last night they showed a small piece on the news about a couple puppies that lost their mother, and were adopted by a female cat who just had her own litter. It was really cute watching all the baby animals feeding from her in harmony. :p

I just got good news I got a B in my last English A level. I also did better then the people who spent all the time revising. I'm going to shot to myself about how I'm a genius.

Erm... not a lot really. I was honoured when my cousin asked me to be godparent to his daughter, but I didn't really like of have that much contact with that side of my family so it wasn't a life changing experience.

Edit: Oh actually getting the news from my doctor that I didn't have testicular cancer. That was such a weight off my mind.

When a very challenging one person show I was asked to do finally opened and the reviews came out.

I had been PETRIFIED to do this and all the reviews were glowing, almost raves. That was a really great moment for me. But I think the best review I got was from my boyfriend who said, "I'm in complete awe of you."

Wow, now I feel good about myself. Thanks! F depressing threads! I'm posting naught but sunshine and leprechauns from now on!

Playing with my nephew is pretty awesome. It is rather nice to see someone so young and yet so curious.
