But she just smiled and turned away.
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before,
But the man there said the music wouldn't play...

Ermm... is that actually a quote from American Pie (the song, obviously)? Or is it coincidental? 'Cos that's a song about getting some unhappy news.

Anyway my 'happiest news' would be when my University acceptance letter arrived a week before Christmas a few years ago.
Yeah, I know the song is about the unhappy but the line itself displays a kind of glimmer of hope. (although I know it's dashed moments later)

Getting accepted into a University is damn big news I got rejected from my first choice because I didn't meet their foreign language requirements. Although my second choice turned out to be more what I needed anyway. Sometimes bad news is good news in disguise.

When my fiancé agreed to marry me was great as well. We were at a big dinner at a friends house with most of our friends, I took a knee, and started laughing hysterically (I was very nervous). She said ?what are you doing?? I said ?Well, I want to ask you to marry me but I can?t stop laughing.? He eyes got wide, her and the other females present started jumping and screaming. I said ?soo???
Her answer to ?the big question? ?Duh!? and then a big kiss on the mouth.
That's a really cool story, good to see there's originality still left in some mariages.

When I got engaged! Then that was beat when I got married! I love being married. All that crap from pop culture about it being bad or awful is so freaking wrong. I love it.

Also, when I got my current job! Producer at a very popular Christian radio station! I love my job! AND I just got a new car! Well, used technically, but new for me! WOO! Man I've got tons to be happy about.

You could be happy because now you're aren't wondering 'what if'? She said no! You can move on! Huzzah!

Finding out I had got tickets to go and see Rage Against The Machine-best moment of my life. Closely followed by Man United winning the Champions League (both times I've been alive), England beating Germany 5-1, getting out of hosptial after meningitis, and a girl who I liked a huge amount telling me that she had liked me, and still kind of did (that was mixed with, "SHIT!!!!" though, because she's my friend's ex, had got a boyfriend and my best friend liked her too).

Edit: Ooh, and finding out I'd got into my first choice univeristy. Thought I'd never get in, and based on the grades I got/grades they wanted I was seriously lucky.

I have never heard good news that wasn't followed shortly by worse news, or that wasn't negated later.
The only amazingly good that that has happened in recent memory was this morning I woke up singing a song I didn't hate for once.
Bah, you and I were born. Neither of us is going to be around to hear the bad news/negation of that, so it's the best news we've got!

My baby sister. I actually found out she was on the way before my old man (I was driving my mother to the medic).

Hmm, best news would be when my parents told me I could go on our school trip to Australia and New Zealand. I've had good news since then, plenty, but that was a rough year, so getting outta the country made a world of difference.

When I received my acceptance letter from American University and then again when University of Georgia rejected me so that I wouldn't have to decide between my top two.
When I found out a girl I had dated was still interested in me after not hearing from me for a month (lost the number after my cellphone fell into a pool. We have been dating for almost 4 years). I guess that isn't that current, but she is still on my mind.
My brother getting engaged last November.
My cousin getting engaged January.
I think that is enough for now.

When John Safran's producer called me and told me I was the only Osamu Tezuka expert they had access to, so they wanted me to talk about Tezuka's Buddha manga on Safran's radio show which deals with religion and politics. I was gobsmacked, so I accepted the offer. The podcast link remains in the Special Extra Content sidebar of my blog ever since. If you like I can direct you to it. If you ask that is.

That is freaking cool! Its an awesome show, congrats on getting on it.

Best news: When the girl I liked decided to give me a chance. That was two years and one month ago and we are still together and very happy.

When I got accepted into the music course I applyed for. After choking on my audition for another corse this one was a second chance, now I've just started my second year and have lots of recordings and a music video lined up.

My results for my first year of uni. I was never good at school and I think my parents were pretty disaponited but when I got a high distinction, two distinctions, two credits and a pass (which was one mark off a credit) I think they were pretty proud.

Well, recently, when Mass Effect 2 was announced and I saw the trailer. Awesome.

And any news in general that has nothing to do with race, politics, religion, or the economy is good news. Like that bit about the message scribbled into Lincoln's watch? That was good news to me, because it didn't have anything to do with us nowadays.

I guess the more you catagorize as good the more good news you'll have.
